Free Music Notes for This Is The Army (1943 Film)Free Music Review: Red, White, and Blue Hit: 4 StarsHow much more Red, White and Blue can you get then this tribute to America during WW2. The songs are great, the acting excellent, and the story just makes you want to cheer for Uncle Sams boys! Of course the use of Joe Lewis was odd...but then he was a big name and national hero. This has been a favorite of mine since the 1960's when I saw it on TV. A must for any movie collector.
Free Music Review: Poor quality recording Hit: 3 StarsThe movie itself is enjoyable but the picture and sound quality is less than desirable. It also has tracking problems. I tried it on two different machines and it wouldn't track out completely on either one.
The lack of desirable picture and sound quality, as well as the tracking problems, are probably due to it having been copied at the EP speed instead of the SP speed as it should have been.
I am very upset about the condition of this recording and I wouldn't buy another recording, tape or disk, put out by this particular company.
Free Music Review: This Is The Army Hit: 4 StarsIf you like old movies like I do. You'll like this one. Great stars and somewhat of a muscial. Joan Leslie has always been my favorite
Free Music Review: Terrific film, but only available in cut, poor quality unauthorized editions Hit: 1 StarsI assume that some problems regarding rights have prevented Warner Brothers (or Turner) from ever releasing this film. I have wasted more money on poor (sound and image), incomplete DVD/VHS copies. (some falsely promising the full running time of 121 minutes).
I DO have an excellent, uncut VHS copy of This Is The Army which I taped from AMC (in the era before AMC became upwatchable because of commercial interruptions and layover material on the films themselves). This restored print had a few showings almost 20 years ago on AMC, and then disappeared completely.
I suggest that all of us who love this movie request that Warner Home Video release the restored version on DVD, and also request TCM to program it.
Free Music Review: A souvenir from the World War II with Ronald Reagan Hit: 4 StarsDo you remember that Ronald Reagan was an actor before being President of the United States or the voice and image of General Electric. That is true. it is a movie in which Ronal Reagan plys one of the main character. It is also a souvenir of World War I and World War II, a souvenir about the shows to sustain the moral of the soldiers, a souvenir about the army of your father and your grandfather. The movie has succeeded to pass through time but obviously, it is a 60 years old movie that has lost a little bit of its colors. The sound is not perfect but it was a great show. So, why not buying it? It is different and it shows how America supports its soldiers, sailors and aviators.
