Free Music Review: Step Right Up For A Musical Journey Aboard The S.S. Maysa

All aboard for a musical journey on the S.S. Maysa. I've sailed with Maysa for a decade now and have never been disappointed with her music output. Her voice is reminiscient of the flowing morning fog of a lake. However, it's universal music that will take you anywhere and you can listen to it everywhere: home, work, car, parties, etc. Someone is always destined to ask that one question: Who is that singing? It never fails. Songs such as "Hypnotic Love" "Where Have You Been" "Scat World" and "So Very Hot (my favorite)" all have a classy, breezy midtempo feel that'll surely get you to break your composure of sophistication. On a smoother current "Soul Child" "All Day Long" "Where Do You Go" and "One More Chance" is that misty breeze to the ocean. Oh, if you're simply looking to go to that lake I mentioned earlier sail over to "Unexpectedly". "Smooth Sailing" is the premier of it all. It's the reason where on this musical cruise. If you want to make that big getaway from it all, let Maysa throw you a lifesaver and wrap you with the warmth of her flow. Don't miss that boat because from here on out it's gonna be smooth sailing.Free Music Review: How about Nirvana Anyone??

I am blown away by the depth and sound this lady and her genre can provide.
Close your eyes and listen to every one of these songs and you will find the source of pleasure in the soul.
What I am constantly being amazed at are the arrangers on these albums. Maysa, Jennifer Brown, Chant Moore, Khani Cole.
They all produce what can only be described as music for the ages.
This type of sound will be "in" forever because it is such a beautiful part of our inner vibrations.
I can only say that if you like this genre, Buy it no matter what!!! All her albums I have found to be that way.
That is why I mention the other women above because they all deserve much more attention from the public than they get..
Wow!! Delight in these sounds...... and let reality go away for a while....

Hit: 5 Stars Maysa Leak is seductive. And not (just) in a carnal way. Her voice reaches out from each of the eleven tracks on "Smooth Sailing" to lead the listener on a journey into stylish R&B tinged with jazz and soul.
Maysa rose to fame as the featured vocalist in acid jazz ensemble Incognito, and her at least two of her previous solo albums bore the stamp of Cog leader Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick, directly or by influence. Not so this time. Maysa's signature sound is more progressive and modern than Incognito, while avoiding faddy hip-hop-esque production, though several tracks could make excellent rap samples.
Picking a favorite track is nearly impossible, save for a half-hearted experiment with reggae beats on "It's Time For Love," it's perfect modern R&B. Neither neo-soul or thugged out cliches, "Smooth Sailing" is perfect. Just perfect.

This is Maysa's best CD to date! All My Life is a favorite of mine, but Smooth Sailing has taken the favorite title. From beginning to end this project is solid. The soulful Soul Child produced by Bluey will knock you off your seat. She has hits in Scat World f/Ledisi, Hypnotic Love, Smooth Sailing, Unexpectedly, and the list goes on. This is easily a CD that can be listened to from beginning to end. It will not disappoint. Maysa is deserving of same recognition artist such as Anita Baker, Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey.
