Free Music Notes for Afro BlueFree Music Review: Just what one can expect Hit: 5 StarsBeing a fan of McCoy Tyner already, I had my expectation for this CD, and it was definitely met. It's a wonderful listen all the way through, as one would expect. He's such a master at his craft that he carries the song at points and provides inflections at others where another instrument takes over for the moment.
Little did I know when I first bought this CD that it's a compilation. That was a surprise just for the fact of it; it doesn't change the high quality of this CD either way, as it's a great listen.
Free Music Review: McCoy Tyner Rules! Hit: 5 StarsTo listen to this album (I assume part solo and part trio) you would think McCoy Tyner has hands the size and weight of hammers. He rings out loud and clear and passionately. He doesn't. He is a well-centered gentleman with relative small hands and a passionate sole. Don't compare this with his work with the Jazztet and John Coltrane Quartet. This was recorded after 'Trane passed and McCoy matured as a musician. I'd buy it blind. I probably already have the individual albums in my collection. This is American Jazz music of the highest level.
