this cd gives a good view of meat's career till so far al the classics are standing on it however this isn't the perfect compilation (witch compilation is ?) the 3 new tracks aren't very special they are all written by Jim steinman and Andrew loyd webber and they just don't sound like meatloaf songs and some of meat's unknown but very good songs are missing here Read'm and weep and More than you deserve From Deadringerand Surf's up from bad attitude i'm sure they could put op more songs on the album than the 19 tracks here it is a 2cd
the Cover looks good and there is lyrics book in it so it ain't that bad.

I bought this collection by default -- and am I glad I did! I consider Steinman to be one the most important rock songsmiths of the 70's-80's. And Meat Loaf sings Steinman like no one else. It's as if the two were destined to collaborate. The three "new" Steinman cuts on The Very Best of Meat Loaf are worth the price of the CD alone. Meat's voice has matured over the years; and he's "grown up." It shows. Once you've heard his cover of "No Matter What" you'll never go back to Boyzone. While most ML fans could think of a song or two that is missing from their ML favourties, this collection is firmly the best collection of ML songs available for purchase.
If you do not own any ML CDs then this is the collection to get as it includes the vast majority of ML's beauties. Easier to get this collection than purchasing a combination of one or two of the several other 'best of' ML CDs with both Bat out of Hell CDs to get the good stuff!

This is a good album for those people who only have like one album of meat loaf. Like any other greatest hits album i guess. the new songs are okay, one has to listen to it more than once to get use to it. two songs are also written by andrew webber, the great broadway composer. so if you are a fun of him, you might like this two sons.
