My mental stability has always been in question, especially by my grandma. However, after just minutes of absently listening to the tv in the next room, some internal radar picked up on the sensual sounds coming from the movie Meet Joe Black. I put down my bowling ball and slowly walked into the next room. I felt as if my world had changed. This music had slid under my skin and was traveling into my brain. I sat on the sofa next to my stuffed pink flamingo and tears slid down my cheeks. I listened and the sadness washed over me like an ocean. Yet I couldnt get enough. This music carries me away on adventures you wouldn't believe. Its the music I say. The emotions that cloak me from hearing the music have NOTHING to do with the actors. I cannot think of any score I've heard that is as poignant to the film for which it is written than Thomas Newman's "Meet Joe Black". After repeated listens I'm still fascinated by how the love theme for "Whisper of a Thrill" and "Someone Else" is both sublimely romantic and disturbing at the same time. I find that juxtaposition to be a perfect match to the film...although it had its faults, the score does not. The achingly beautiful scenes between Brad Pitt and Claire Forlani toward the end of the film owe a huge debt to Newman's score. How did the Academy overlook him for Best Original Score? He wasn't even nominated. A shame really. But no award would do this music justice. It is simply, indescribably, and deliciously beautiful.Free Music Review: The best film score available

I have heard hundreds of different scores, and personally own well over 50 scores from different movies. Out of all the of the scores I have listened to, Meet Joe Black rises to the top. Thomas Newman is ingenious in the scoring of this film. His soft and mysterious tracks carry your heart, soul and mind to strange and exotic places.
The best track on the score is "Whisper of a Thrill." It disarms you emotionally goes right to the core of your heart. It is seductive, yet sorrowfull. You are curious, yet cautious. A plethora of emotions arise when listening to this beautiful soundtracks. Thank you Thomas Newman for your brilliant work. Purchase this soundtrack - you will not be sorry.

I would like to tell everyone, that if you are a person who is detached from you emotions, this soundtrack will reconnect, you. I have never, never been so move by a piece of music. I watched the movie and found myself closing my eyes and listening to the music. Thomas Newman, whom I have never met is a brilliant man and must be an angel from God to be able to create music that not only stirs unknown emotions, but touches the soul. My personal favorites on the soundtrack are " Whisper of a Thrill", and "Someone Else, which are different renditions of the same score. No Matter you will be pleased. The soundtrack to Meet Joe Black is one of the best soundtracks I've ever had the privilege to listen to. It forms a satisfying balance of music by combining pieces from Thomas Newman's hauntingly lovely score with several light but emotional big-band hits. The addition of the Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World medley performed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole is the perfect finishing touch. If you liked the movie, by all means, get this soundtrack; it recalls all the emotion and beauty of the film. However, even if you haven't had the chance to see Meet Joe Black, or if it didn't affect you that deeply, still, give the soundtrack a try. What else can I say? It is beautiful.
