Free Music Notes for Meet Joe Black: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: Amazing Hit: 5 Stars
Like the previous review, I didn't think Titanic's soundtrack could be outdone. But I was wrong! This soundtrack is absolutely amazing! If you want to know what it feels like to experience emotion through music, this is the one. If you're reading this now, chances are you've seen the movie and kind of liked, but can't really remember the music, right? Don't worry about seeing it again, just buy the CD! If you haven't seen the movie, buy the CD anyway (Think: Titanic only better! and w/o celene dion). I can't give this CD anymore than 5 stars but if I could, honestly it would be about 99. Buy it now, you won't be disappointed, I promise....
Free Music Review: High Quality Recording Hit: 5 Stars
Digitally mastered using HDCD recording, this is one of the finest soundtracks I've heard. The music ranges from the tranquil and reflective to comical and fun. There are several tracks that have a very strong emotional component to them. Thomas Newman scored this one well with music that stands very well on its own away from the movie. This soundtrack is entirely instrumental, mixing a blend of big orchestral with more subtle pieces of strings and piano. I tend to be a fan when someone has invested a great deal of effort in mastering a recording and the use of HDCD here reflects the producers desire to create an audiophile level recording.
Free Music Review: Not for cynics...one of the most lushly romantic scores EVER Hit: 5 Stars
There are very few occasions in film where the music 'marries' the story and visuals like a fine Bordeaux 'marries' a perfect filet mignon. The haunting electronic Jean Michel Jarre over the young runners in West Australia in "Gallipoli" comes to mind, as does Omar Shariff's entrance in the desert in "Lawrence of Arabia"...and this soundtrack. The emotional intensity of the soundtrack perfectly underscores the joy and wonder of the Angel of Death (Brad Pitt) discovering the sensual, physical pleasures of life, love and peanut butter, and loses them all, again for love. It doesn't get much better than this.
Free Music Review: Beautiful and moving Hit: 5 Stars
I never saw this movie all the way through, but the few times I did catch it on tv, it was always near the end of the movie. The music featured at this stage in the film is simply gorgeous. After hearing that finale track and the version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" I knew I had to have the soundtrack. The score itself is not very cohesive, but there are many different melodies throughout it that are great on their own. The most beautiful of these themes is featured track 3 and track 19, a track worth the price of the CD alone. Even if you didn't like the film (which I did not) this soundtrack is a joy to listen to.
Free Music Review: An outstanding score with a surprise ending Hit: 5 Stars
There are a handful of films which integrate the story line and score perfectly. Meet Joe Black does this and more. I can only compare it to the feelings evoked by the soundtrack in "Somewhere in Time".The surprise ending is the remarkable rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"/"What a wonderful world" sung by the late Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. With only a ukulele, the simple eloquence and outstanding feeling of the artist are overwhelming. This cut is an icon which will stand the test of time. If you purchase the CD for this one song, you will be way ahead of the game.
