Free Music Notes for Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!

Free Music Review: Awesome debut by my favorite thrash metal band.
Hit: 5 Stars

Dave Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica, and he was pissed. So what did he do? What anyone in his position would have done of course, release an album of his own that would be faster, heavier, and more deadly to the ears than Metallica's, that not only directly attacks Metallica's first release (Kill 'Em All) with the name of the title track and album, but also with the song "Mechanix". Dave Mustaine wrote it when he was with Metallica under the name "The Mechanics" and then when he was kicked from the band Metallica slowed it down, changed the lyrics, and then called it "The Four Horsemen". So Dave Mustaine kept the original song and named it "Mechanix". I don't have anything against Metallica and actually enjoy their early stuff quite bit but this whole thing is quite despicable if you ask me. Anyway, the album turns out to be some of the best thrash metal I've had the pleasure of listening to. Dave's vocals are awesome in my opinion and very unique compared to other singers in the genre at the time. The relentless guitarists tear through song after song and never slow down. The drummer tries his best to keep up and does a pretty good job overall. My favorite tracks on the album are "Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good", "Looking Down The Cross" and "Mechanix". It's a great album for any thrash metal fan, I highly recommend it.

The remastering takes this album to a whole new level thanks to the vastly improved clarity in sound. It also includes Megadeth's cover of "These Boots" which was taken off of this album for a period of time because of an ongoing argument with the original artist. Now it's final released to us again but has all of the swearing bleeped out (at request/demand of the original artist) and while you probably won't be listening to it much because of this, it provides some good laughs hearing all those bleeps. There's also demo versions of "Mechanix", "The Skull Beneath The Skin", and "Last Rites/Loved To Deth" on the remastered version as bonuses. The awesome album art that was originally intended but never got used is on here now along with side notes on every song describing the song and the band's feeling towards it and such. Great overall package that is more than worth it for any Megadeth fan.
