Free Music Notes for Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?

Free Music Review: Great album, shut the f*ck up fallout boy lover!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is Megadeth's best album and it comes very close to Metallica's Master of Puppets. It does not sound as raw cause it's remastered. But I kinda like the remaster a bit better since the songs are more powerful that way. Even though this is not as brutal as MOP, this has better solos. This album has some nice Thrahs assaults such as Good Mourning / Black Friday,Wake up dead, Bad Omen and My last Words. The rest of the album is great too. I would say this is the closest Megadeth as ever been at Being as good as Metallica. I reccomend this album.

Also, Never listen to fallout boy lover. She is just another warped teen who likes the overrated green day and the gay good charlotte that she thinks is heavy. If you want heav ythen get this or some old Metallica. And I need to staighten out some untrue things about Megadeth. 1. Old Megadeth is not bad music! It's because listening to green day and modern day emo is not true rock, it's pop! 2. Dave Mustaine is not a bad guitarist! He acually does good solos unlike green day. Green day's solos are slow ans simple, Megadeth's and Metallica's are lighrning fast. 3. Dave Mustaine was not kicked out of Metallica cause he sucked. He does not suck! He was kicked out cause he had a drug problem. 4. Do not make your boyfriend stop listening to Megadeth. Teenage boys like me like to rock. Listening to green day and good charlotte is not rocking.
So just stop slamming on good bands!

you also made me pissed by slamming Alice in Chains and Pantera.

Back to the album, it's great, fast and brutal. Buy this with some old Metallica!

Free Music Review: A LOT BETTER!
Hit: 5 Stars

Peace Sells but Who's buying is definitely a great thrash masterpiece that deserved a remaster.

The thunderous guitar riffs are a lot clearer now. They still sound fast, distorted and feroucious. The drums also are more clear now that all the reverb from the guitars has being taken off, still fast (as on The Conjouring), aggressive (Wake up Dead) and very driving (My Last Words). David's bass lines sound a lot more prominent and reverb-less also (check the song Peace Sells), maybe it's the instrument that sounds the best after the remaster compared to the original. Mustaine also re-recorded new vocal tracks on all the songs which makes sound better in the sense that first of all they are not sunk in reverb, and second the slight diferences offer a more mature Dave Mustaine as a singer (Devil's Island as an example), yet still as angry and pissed as he was 20 years ago, and the recording can show.

In general the sound is more clear, and more "digital" per say. These can be considered a good thing or a bad thing depending on where you stand. In my honest opinion the tracks sound A LOT better. Yet i believe that this remaster is not worth buying if you already own the original records. It's a good thing and I am glad to be able to listen to my old favorites (this is my favorite Megadeth album) finally sounding as they should.

Highlights: Wake Up Dead, My last Words
Lowlights: not worth the money if you own the original.

Free Music Review: Why Mess with Art?
Hit: 5 Stars

The original "Peace Sells" is rough and raw. That quality makes it great. It also makes it awful.

I understand why people detest an artist's choice to remake an album: why mess with perfection? The material on this album makes it a Metal masterpiece!

I've been waiting since the late '80s for a remastered version of "Peace Sells" because the CD sounds like a stylus scraping against a worn groove... inside a steel drum... while water rushes loudly outside.

There will always be a rash of people upset that the remastered sound is cleaner, more polished. They do make a good point since the songs will obviously sound different than the original. But I can't enjoy listening to 96Kb MP3s, so why should I tolerate hissing noise from the original recording?

I'm also glad to hear a version of this great album that brings me to center stage instead of stranding me inside a car on the side of the highway opposite the stadium where one of my favorite bands plays "Devil's Island." Another classic metal CD that badly needed a remaster was Queensryche's "Operation Mindcrime," and that finally happened too.

I'm going to listen to this remastered version of "Peace Sells" for the next month on my drive to work. On a good stereo.

Free Music Review: One of the most influential thrash albums of all time
Hit: 5 Stars

Can you make a perfect album even better? The answer is, yes. Megadeth's re-issuing of their catalog features all of their albums with remastered sound, and remixed bonus tracks. "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" was Megadeth's first masterpiece, released a few years after their debut album. Any real metal fan knows just how influential this album was, is, and will be for years to come yet, but the real question is how this new edition sounds. The remastering process applied to "Peace Sells..." makes the album sound crisper and cleaner, with a little more bass here, a little less guitar there, etc. Now while the album does sound better than ever, the rawness that was found on the original release, which can be attributed to some somewhat shoddy production, isn't here as much thanks to the remastering, but that can't take away just how heavy and important "Peace Sells..." is. The bonus tracks include remixes of "Wake Up Dead", "The Conjuring", the classic title track, and "Good Mourning/Black Friday"; all of which are fairly solid little bonuses. All in all, it's nice getting to hear "Peace Sells..." the way it was originally intended to sound, but if you already own the original album, don't feel the need to shell out the cash for this.

Free Music Review: Megadeth sells a classic...I'm buying!
Hit: 5 Stars

Many music fans consider this to be one of thrash/speed metal's best records. "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" is doubtlessly Dave Mustaine's first masterpiece. It is a classic, standard-setting album which is one of the best and most powerful and contagious releases of the 1980's (right up there with Metallica's "Master of Puppets" and Slayer's "Reign In Blood"). The famous album opener, "Wake Up Dead," has a pair of guitar solos, as well as a couple tempo changes, and "The Conjuring" is a catchy song, with fast, propulsive riffs. Next, the title track has more catchy, chugging guitars, several small solos, and an infectious sing-along near the end. "Devil's Island" and "Good Mourning/Black Friday" both have tasty solos (and "Good Mourning" also has a very catchy chorus and almost buzzsaw riffs). From front to back, this C.D. is very memorable and nearly perfect. It's a must own for every thrash and metal collection. The bottom line is, if you like heavy metal, why wouldn't you buy "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?"? Plus, I strongly recommend getting the remastered version of this C.D. The four remixes at the end aren't anything especially interesting, but, overall, the album's sound quality is MUCH improved.
