Free Music Notes for Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?Free Music Review: Megadeth's #2 Album... and what a trip Hit: 5 Stars
This is Megadeth's 2nd best album, roughly on par with 'Countdown to Extinction' and a solid cut below 'Rust in Peace'
Note that I rarely give an A+
'Wake Up Dead' is an awesome opener with a wicked sustained riff in the opening 2 minutes that I can't describe but LOVE A+
'The Conjuring' has weird vocal delivery but a cool midsection A-
'Peace Sells' is one of Megadeth's best songs. Classic all the way A+
'Devil's Island' Good chorus makes up for mediocre music B+
'Good Mourning/ Black Friday' is one of my personal anthems. Starts slow, ends thrashy.. the best here A+
'Bad Omen' sounds weak at first but does grow on you, NOT filler B+
'I Ain't Superstitious' IS filler, doesn't fit well but hot horrible B-
'My Last Words' is a good way to finish the album, sick. A
There you have it. In my opinion PS..BWB? has 3 A+ songs.
Rust In Peace has 4 (Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Lucritia, Tornado of Souls)
Countdown to Extinction has 3, (Symphony of Destruction, CTE, Sweating Bullets)
TWNAH has 2 (Dread and Fugitive Mind, Return to Hangar)
Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, Killing is my Business and Risk have none.
Free Music Review: My Review For...Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? Hit: 5 Stars
This album came out in 1986 and is truely one of the greatest as far as thrash metal goes. Its somewhat political and has strange lyrics. Anyone who likes metal and/or likes metal from the 80s should pick this up. The songs are as follows: Wake Up Dead is a great song. The video is great also. The guitars are heavy and at the end of the song, the sorta slow riff is awesome, and a guitar with a sweet solo comes in. The Conjouring is pure madness. Peace Sells is easily the best song on the album. Great opening bass. Guitars are great. Awesome lyrics. Next is Devils Island. This song is weird because the chorus is consisted on only 2 words repeated. Still a great song and helps the album remain fast and heavy. Good Mourning/Black Friday I think adds the rawness to the album. A lot of people like this one. Bad Omen is what you listen to when you want to listen to sweet guitars. Easily the worst song on the album. I Ain't Superstitious is a great song. Love to opener. Last is My Last Words. Great closer. I listen to this almost daily. Truely great overall song. So overall, this is a great album and highly recommended. Worth some space on your shelf.
Free Music Review: Interesting Hit: 5 Stars
There is a lot of nonsense posted about Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?, for example this is not Chris Poland's last recordings with the band as he plays on extended tracks of Rust in Peace and The System Has Failed. There is a lot of nonsense posted about who is the best Megadeth guitarist, well I reckon Dave Mustaine actually changed his style between his Metallica stuff (just listen to their demos and the early Megadeth demos) and the first two Megadeth albums, I think his main influence must have been Poland. Marty plays a very clean type of rock solo, he's great but he really comes later and made Megadeth a more commercial sound for mass media. The Poland-Mustaine guitar style is more unique and interesting, it isn't just developed from a lot of guitar school. It makes you wonder if Poland was teaching Mustaine guitar over the early period of Megadeth, an interesting hypothesis as Chris then pops up later at key moments in the band's history, certainly Mustaine has become a good and interesting guitarist himself. If you want to hear how good the guitar gets then just check out the last solo on My Last Word. Anyway, a classic album...go buy.
Free Music Review: I Ain't Superstitious Hit: 5 Stars
All of Megadeth's albums are original but Peace Sells... is the most original album in my opinion.Wake Up Dead, freakin' awesome song!Peace Sells rules the album, the lyrics on that song are awesome, all the lyrics rule but Peace Sells is the best, here are the lyrics from the first verse but I'm sure everyone knows them anyway but this is for the people who don't.
What do you mean,"I don't believe god"?
I talk to him everyday,
What do you mean,"I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to,
What do you mean,"I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do,
And,what do you mean,"I don't pay my bill's"?
Why do you think I'm broke?Huh?
Those lyrics rule!I Ain't Superstitious is a cover song(funny).Black Friday rules, read the lyrics to that song,I'll give you an example.
Killer,Intruder,Homicidal man.
If you see me coming, run fast as you can.
A blood thirsty demon who's stalking the street
I hack up my victims like pieces of meat.
Of course the playing on this album rules, the riffs(amazing). You won't go wrong, buy this album.
Free Music Review: 5 Stars to the original, The Remaster doesnt sound right though Hit: 5 Stars
"Peace Sells" happening to be my second favorite Megadeth album (Rust in Peace gets #1) and the only reason that I am writing this is to comment on the remastered version. Something just doesnt sound right. It seems like the songs were played around with to much. Its almost like it was re-recorded. When I go back to my copy on cassette, even though the sound is horrid, the songs seem to sound better when they are less polished. Sometimes lousy production does an album justice. I love remastered versions of most albums, but I only like it when they get more volume and a crisper sound with less hiss. When things are played with to much (such as Ozzy's horrid remasters of him re-recording certain parts w/ different musicans, or the remasters of Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon, which they ruined, but hey that sounds best on record.) Maybe its just me, but I would love to hear other comments from other Megadeth fans that own the orginal and see if it is just me. "Killing is my Business" seems to have the same problem, but besides the remastering problem, its still one of their best!
