Free Music Review: Best live CD I've ever heard.
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is an incredible display of a metal band in top form. I have not heard a band this tight on a live CD since Iron Maiden's "Live After Death."

I saw Megadeth during this tour in San Diego. The set list on the album is only slightly different from the show I saw. High points would have to be "She Wolf," "Ashes in Your Mouth," and "Train of Consequences," which is a song I don't really care for, but it comes across live much better. Deep cuts like "Hook in Mouth," "Devil's Island" and "Tornado of Souls" are pleasant surprises, but where is "Motopsycho"? Also, when I saw them, they played "The Conjuring" which is a strong candidate for my personal favorite song ever. I would have liked to see that song on this collection.

Overall, the playing on this album is pure perfection. I haven't heard one mistake. The twin leads of Mustain and Pitrelli are flawless, and the rythym section of Ellefson and DiGrasso are solid as granite. Dave Mustaine sounds a bit funny on some of the vocals but I think it was probably a matter of vocal chord health. You can only scream and growl so much until you injure yourself. This is a better "Greatest Hits" album than their "Capitol Punishment."

Buy it, today.

Free Music Review: Megadeth make a great recording
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm gonna start off by saying that this album is great, and is definitely worth buying for the Megadeth/speed-metal fans out there. Although Al Pitrelli (lead guitarist) and Jimmy DeGrasso (drummer) are not as good and punchy as the old-school, classic Megadeth duo of Friedman (lead) and Menza (drums), the instrumental solo's are still awe-inspiring, like the drum solo in "She-Wolf" and the frequent excellent Pitrelli solos. Also, I think that Dave Mustaine's voice is still great even after his 20 years of singing, despite what others say. The only fault that I found with this album (considering it's live) is the ruining of "Train of Consequences" which was sung by David Ellefson (NOT Dave Mustaine as some people say) who should stick to his bass - and I have to say that his bass playing is still superb as usual. The reason I love this album, is because it is live, and for me that makes the tracks seem more alive and natural (rather than in a studio)... it's just a shame that a live recording wasn't made back with the original line-up and I'm also gutted that this is the end of Megadeth AFTER 20 YEARS OF THE BEST METAL I'VE EVER HEARD

Free Music Review: Their Final Outing
Hit: 5 Stars

This is my first Megadeth cd and I am going to buy another copy because this one will probably go bad after a while because of the continuous play it receives. I am a big Metallica fan also but this band seems to give just a little better concerts than Metallica. They are faster, louder, and stronger than Metallica. Metallica doesn't know what they lost when they fired David. True he was going through alcohol problems but they should have temporarily put him on the bench until he could control the drinking problem. Enough with that, this cd kicks ... The guitars never let up on any of the songs, the drums are heavy, and the bass is possible one of the heaviest I have ever heard. Every song on these two cd's rock and I would recommend this cd to any person wether or not they are Megadeth fans. If they enjoy good rock music, then they should enjoy this band. I hope Dave gets better and possibly regroups this band or starts a new band and picks up where he left off.

Free Music Review: Megadeth go out on top
Hit: 5 Stars

The first time I saw Megadeth was on the second night at the Beacon Theater in NYC during this past tour. This CD takes me right back to that night as it was a small, sweaty club and the band was at the top of their game. They played with skill, precision, blazing speed, and incredible intensity. I absolutely could not believe how tight they were and the crowd loved every minute of it.

Sadly, it looks like this was to be my last time to see Megadeth as I'm sure that many of you by now have heard that they have broken up due to Dave Mustaine's injury(press release)/relapse(if you read the MTV report). This CD is a great memento of this tour and it is the sound of a band on top of its game. I can't think of a better way to go out on top then to release a live album that spans their *almost* enitre career and sounds like they are hungry to destroy. Thank you, Dave. The metal world will never be the same without you.

Free Music Review: Like Megadeth? This Is A Must-Have
Hit: 5 Stars

This is simply a superb Megadeth performance. Twenty four songs, amazing accuracy, and a great crowd amount to one amazing album that I can't stop listening to. You wouldn't be reading this if you didn't like Megadeth, so don't hesitate to pick this one up.

Anyone concerned whether or not Mustaine can play his old chops as fast as he used to needs not worry. Accompanied by Pitrelli, Mechanix, Hangar 18, Tornado of Souls, and Holy Wars all sound amazing. Megadeth still has the speed in them.

The only thing I could say is less than stellar is the sound quality. It doesn't sound as polished as some other popular live albums (such as Dream Theater's Live Scenes From New York and Metallica's S&M), but this could be a good thing, too. The album has a raw sound that actually comes across really well.

You basically get a couple hours of excellent music for [item price]. This is absolutely a must-have for Megadeth fans.
