Free Music Review: A metal masterpiece by Megadeth
Hit: 5 Stars

Rust in peace is Megadeth`s fourth album was originaly released in 1990 and then reisued years latter.Rust in peace is known to be some of Megadeth finest work this album inspired many and keep inspiring people ,the trash-metal masters put on quite an effort on here making this a must-have album.

Dave mustaine was kicked out of his original band `metalica`and made his own band with `megadeth`while metalica sold out early in the decade, megadeth did the exact opposite they went on their own toughts not becoming too comercial. They proved how great they are with this album and they made a metal masterpiece.

The reissue has great points like the booklet is great even if could have more but whats great is that they included demos from the songs on the album and they also included `my creation`.So the 4 demos are great not many remasters have this kind of stuff normaly they just cheap reissue to get money,Dave gave more.

But it also has a bad point its that some songs are re-singed on some of the songs it sounds different than the original release. If youre dissapointed then buy the original copy of this album. But they included demos thats the plus and the new booklet is great too.

Some well known songs here and some of the greatest by Megadeth in`holly wars...the punishment due` `rust in peace...polaris`,`hangar 18`and more. All the songs here are solid metal stuff you wont be dissapointed by the tracks.9 songs but 4 demos so you have 11 songs in total.

The demo from `holly wars`sounds different from the original as it is faster and you have a short demo of `my creation`a Nick menza song. You also have demos of `take no prissoners` and `rust in peace...polaris`.Its interresting to hear the song and then hear what the demo sounded like and things they changed ect.

My favourit songs here are `holly wars`wich is so awesome crazy song with intense drumming and many solos,`hangar 18`starts slow but it gets more awesome,`rust in peace` finishes the c.d very well,`take no prisoners`is great.Well i could say every song are worthy with no fillers even if `dawn patrol`is slower than the other songs.

This is what would become the classic lineup of megadeth after many changes in the 80s Dave finaly foud a lineup that would be togheter for a while.
So if you are a Megadeth fan or you want to hear awesome metal music try `Rust in peace`its one of their best work and i recomend it very good album a masterpiece what can i say.

Free Music Review: Great, but get the original if you can find it
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the fourth Megadeth album, and in my opinion the best, with their best lineup of Mustaine/Ellefson/Menza/Friedman. Released in 1990, it is exemplary thrash/speed metal release with killer guitar riffs and songwriting by Dave Mustaine.

"Holy wars...The Punishment Due": 10/10
One of Megadeths most popular songs, and includes a great solo from Marty Friedman. A great album opener as well.

"Hangar 18": 9/10
Cheesy lyrics here, but this song presents some great lead tradeoffs and manic tempo changes. This one would have worked out great as an instrumental.

"Take no Prisoners": 9/10
This is one of the 3 songs from this reissue that features new vocals from Dave, most likely because he lost the original takes. Still a killer song.

"Five Magics": 10/10
New vocals are also featured here. Again, great bass playing from David Ellefson and an awesome intro as well.

"Poison was the Cure": 10/10
Starts off with a slower, melodic intro, then the song kicks into high gear with one of the fastest songs they've ever written.

"Lucretia": 10/10
Again new vocals are added with the remastered version (although I like these vocals a bit more). Great riffs and a great melody. One of my favorites on the album.

"Tornado of Souls": 10/10
This one is a live favorite. More great lead work my Marty Friedman and a very catchy chorus.

"Dawn Patrol": 9/10
This track is merely filler material; a cool bass riff with spoken lyrics in a fake accent by Dave. Still worth listening to at times, though.

"Rust in Peace...Polaris": 10/10
A fast paced drum intro kicks off this faced paced rocker. The unique riffage and strong vocals make this one of Megadeths most underrated songs.

87/90= *****

***BONUS TRACKS***
The bonus tracks on this reissue are quite good- 3 demos of the songs with Chris Poland (who played guitar on the first two albums) on guitar, and an unreleased track co-written by Nick Menza. These are great additions to the album.

Overall, if you are a new fan, I highly suggest getting the original over this, even though it may be hard to find considering that it is out of print. The sound is much better, but the new vocals take away from this already great album. This reissue still deserves 5 stars in my opinion, because it is a classic metal album and the best megadeth album.

Free Music Review: The Best from Megadeth
Hit: 5 Stars

This is speed/thrash metal at it's finest. This album combines all of Megadeth's best aspects which includes fast paced songs with some great guitar work and Dave Mustaine's cheesiness which actually works. 'Holy Wars...The Punishment Due' is a fast paced opener with a long but fast prelude that really sets the stage for such a great album. 'Hangar 18' is the hit off this album. I especially love the way the pace of the song changes from time to time. 'Take No Prisoners' is the other big hit off of Rust in Peace. It's a good song and all, but I'm just not a big fan of the Rattlehead voice that is present in this song.'Five Magics' is another good song that has a lot of changes in the pace of the song. I think this song is the second best song on the album (second to Hangar 18). 'Poison was the Cure' is a short fast paced song that is a different from the other songs in this album, but it's still enjoyable. 'Lucretia' is another solid track that is a little slower than the rest of the album, but still has some good guitar work (which should come to no surprise becasue after all this is Megadeth we are talking about). 'Tornado of Souls' is another awesome track, and in my opinion the 3rd best track on the album. I love the opening of the song with it's memorable quick riff. Dave Mustaine sings this song perfectly. 'Dawn Patrol' is the undisputed filler of this album. This song might appeal to you if you really like the bass and drums. I usually skip 'Dawn Patrol'. 'Rust in Peace...Polaris' is another great song with an excellent drum intro and is just full of energy throughout the song and has some short but fast guitar solos. After 'Rust in Peace...Polaris' come the demo tracks, which I'm not particularly fond of so I won't bother commentating on them. One other note, I have just recently started listening to Megadeth within the past year, so I've never heard the original version of 'Rust in Peace' because I own the remastered version of it, so therefore I can't have a word on Dave changing the songs a little bit. This is a great album and is one of if not THE best thrash metal album. I hear the songs have been tweaked a little from their original versions, but nontheless, I feel it doesn't really matter, because this album is just so great. So go out and buy this album it you haven't yet.

Free Music Review: Metallica - Eat Your Hearts Out!
Hit: 5 Stars

Who are the kings of speed metal? Metallica? Don't make me laugh. After listening to this album, the answer is clear - MEGADETH.
When Metallica were starting to make mainstream pussy metal, Megadeth were about to unleash a furious assault on the world. That assault was called RUST IN PEACE. Upon hearing the album, most metal fans were convinced - Megadeth had surpassed Selloutica.
This album is just monstrous energy from beginning to end. It's also the first album from the classic lineup of Mustaine, Friedman, Ellefson and Menza. This remains perhaps the finest speed metal album ever made, definitely up there with any of Metallica's first three albums.

"Holy Wars" is awesome, carrying on the tradition of anti-war metal songs like "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and "2 Minutes To Midnight". Likewise, "Hangar 18" is a solid slice of metal perfection, highlight by the mind-boggling shredding of Marty Friedman during the final solos. Just listen to that and tell me that Kirk Hammett is better. I dare you. What Marty does here is friggin' unbelievable. I don't know if anyone else can out-shred that guy.
And things get REALLY good with "Take No Prisoners". A motherf---er of a song, with thunderous riffs, great lyrics and those awesome chants of "Infiltrate them! Devastate them!..." The lyrics to "Five Magics" owe a lot to Iron Maiden. Great song. "Poison Was The Cure" is vicious, but Mustaine snarls the lyrics so quickly that you can't understand one word he's saying. "Lucretia" is the only average song on the album. "Tornado Of Souls" is one of the best tunes they've ever done. What a brilliant vocal melody! "Dawn Patrol" is kind of puzzling. It's sung with a British accent and only lasts about a minute and a half. But then we have the title track. Probably the best song on the album, and a heavy metal masterpiece. Love the lyrics.

The bonus demos are nothing special. But the sound quality on this remaster is phenomenal. I have the original edition of COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION and the sound is lifeless and flat. If all the remasters sound like this, then I'm sure as hell gonna buy them all!

Long live Megadeth. Long pity Metallica.

Free Music Review: Classic thrash album.
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first heard this album I was blown away now this is what real metal music should sound like, it is definetely one of my top favorites and has always remained and continues to amaze me to this day. Megadeth has returned on Rust in peace with full force I mean the guitar work on this album is absolutely amazing and all these tracks were well thought out and the overall sound is outstanding you cannot call yourself a metalhead with out owning this cd, on the first track it just blasts off with Holy wars with unrelenting speed then on Hangar 18 where both Dave Mustain and Marty Friedman trade off guitar solos and start shredding with alot of intensity the song is about a special top secret government hanger that keeps space crafts and aliens and stuff like that, Take no prisoners continues the intensity and has some nice drumming from Nick Menza. I think that Dave should have stuck with this lineup as this is what made Megadeth into a successful formula and band, every band member was in top form and it was at their peak you can tell from the level of creativity as it has so many solos and brilliant technical riffs which is something that you would always expect from a Megadeth album. It seems that it was all so effortless when you know that they worked hard, the track Five magics on this remastered version seems different as the original was superior but still a great song then theres Poison was the cure which has a great song structure and just sounds like an attack. Lucretia has some very nice bass lines from Dave Ellefson one of my favorites along with the next track Tornado of souls my favorite Megadeth song of all time it has a very nice intro and good lyrics. The rest of the tracks were pretty good except for Dawn patrol where Dave Mustain sings with a weird voice and with this re-mastered version you get an extra song called My creation which is awesome and a couple of demo tracks, anyway if you like speed/thrash metal or any kind of metal for that matter then you should definetely check out Rust in peace, the re-mastered version is quite impressive so I don't know why some reviewers keep complaining. This is an album that should be blasted at full volume to get the maximum effect.
