Free Music Review: Megadeth-the greatest American Heavy Metal Band PERIOD
Hit: 5 Stars

megadeth is by far the best American heavy metal band out there. far superior than Metallica. its unfortunate that metallica got all the hype and hoopla surrounding them, because dave and co. are the superior musicians and songwriters. this is probably my favorite album by them, and if you are not familiar with megadeth i would wholeheartedly recommend this cd to be the first in your library. every song on this album is a masterpiece, and never gets old. I rock this cd almost as much as i rock Seventh son by Iron Maiden (my favorite band). i cant really comment on the remastered vocals, im not even sure which version i got, its been awhile since i bought this one. but with that being said, with or without altered lyrics and vocals, the music on this cd is totally worth your time. if you dont have this album, you need to get it ASAP.

Free Music Review: thrash METAL masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

This record is awesome, Marty Friedman is one of the best ever on metal guitar, this album is as significant in metal as ''British Steel, ''The Number Of The Beast, or ''Master Of Puppets''. This is real metal.

Free Music Review: How can you change the vocals????
Hit: 3 Stars

Alright, so I finally decided I needed Rust in Peace on CD (I'd dealt with it on tape for about fifteen years) and seeing the new remastered edition, I figured it would be a good one to buy. So I put it in my CD player. The first two songs, fine. Then "Take No Prisoners", and the weirdness begins. The vocals sounded...cruddy as a cover band. Then "Five Magics". Wasn't it "Bestow upon me KNOWLEDGE", not "Magic"? Ah, I thought, maybe I'm wrong. But then at the end of the song...is that a muppet singing along with Mustaine? I thought that part was scarier on tape. As my tape is broken, I search out an unremixed CD. I wasn't going nuts. This new CD was much suckier than the original on these two songs at least. Everything else was fine, and did sound a little better than the original, and after looking around online I read that the original vocal tracks for these songs had been lost. But wouldn't it have been better to just not remix and remaster them than wreck the songs? Any kid that's never heard the real versions of these songs is gonna burst out laughing at something that used to be insanely great. Hopefully a future remix will fix this.

Free Music Review: 5 Star album, 5 Star Remix
Hit: 5 Stars

Normally, I would be the first guy to scream in disgust when artists remix their older albums. ZZ Top would be the best example of the horror that can happen when you remix your back catalog. However, in this case (and Raw Power by Iggy & the Stooges), the remix of Rust In Peace sounds better than it ever did.

In comparison to the original cd (which wasn't produced bad to begin with) it is mindblowing. This is the best possible example of how relevant good music can be with the right production. From the intro riffs of Holy Wars, it's clear that this remix is worth its weight in gold. I hadn't really listened to this cd on a regular basis since middle school when it came out and I have to say, it hasn't left my cd player all week. There have been many differing opinions on Dave's remixes but Rust in Peace is a home run. All a classic album like that needs is a fresh remaster/remix and it makes all the modern metal acts blush.

Remastering old albums is par for the course and hard to mess up.

Remixing is playing with fire but Dave succeeds 100% on this cd.

In short, if you don't have the remix, you're missing out. It's like going from an 8-track tape to a CD. Enjoy.

Free Music Review: Classic thrash album.
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first heard this album I was blown away now this is what real metal music should sound like, it is definetely one of my top favorites and has always remained and continues to amaze me to this day. Megadeth has returned on Rust in peace with full force I mean the guitar work on this album is absolutely amazing and all these tracks were well thought out and the overall sound is outstanding you cannot call yourself a metalhead with out owning this cd, on the first track it just blasts off with Holy wars with unrelenting speed then on Hangar 18 where both Dave Mustain and Marty Friedman trade off guitar solos and start shredding with alot of intensity the song is about a special top secret government hanger that keeps space crafts and aliens and stuff like that, Take no prisoners continues the intensity and has some nice drumming from Nick Menza. I think that Dave should have stuck with this lineup as this is what made Megadeth into a successful formula and band, every band member was in top form and it was at their peak you can tell from the level of creativity as it has so many solos and brilliant technical riffs which is something that you would always expect from a Megadeth album. It seems that it was all so effortless when you know that they worked hard, the track Five magics on this remastered version seems different as the original was superior but still a great song then theres Poison was the cure which has a great song structure and just sounds like an attack. Lucretia has some very nice bass lines from Dave Ellefson one of my favorites along with the next track Tornado of souls my favorite Megadeth song of all time it has a very nice intro and good lyrics. The rest of the tracks were pretty good except for Dawn patrol where Dave Mustain sings with a weird voice and with this re-mastered version you get an extra song called My creation which is awesome and a couple of demo tracks, anyway if you like speed/thrash metal or any kind of metal for that matter then you should definetely check out Rust in peace, the re-mastered version is quite impressive so I don't know why some reviewers keep complaining. This is an album that should be blasted at full volume to get the maximum effect.
