Free Music Notes for Rust in PeaceFree Music Review: Quit complaining about the remaster Hit: 5 Stars
I think it sounds just as good as the original. I always thought Megadeth were better than the other 3 thrash bands(though all 4 of them are awesome). Dave Mustaine's vocals are pretty good, unlike some people have said. He is a master at guitar as well. He is constantly switching out between lead & rhythm with Marty Friedman, another godly guitarist. Those stupid emo kids in Hawthorne Heights wish they could play guitar like this. Dave Ellefson is a very underrated bassist, and I find him to be a master of it. Nick Menza is a great drummer as well. This album is technical, progressive laced thrash/speed metal.
Track Ratings:
Holy Wars...The Punishment Due:100/10
Hanger 18:1000/10
Take No Prisoners: 100/10
Five Magics:100/10
Poison Was the Cure:100/10
Lucretia:100/10
Tornado of Souls:100/10
Dawn Patrol:10/10
Rust in Peace..Polaris:100/10
I didn't bother rating the extras.
Score:1710/100
This album is a masterpiece! If you like metal, this gem's for you. If you like emo, go cry in a corner and slit your wrists, because this album's too heavy for you, and it might break you in half.
Long live Megadeth!
Go jump off a cliff Hawthorne Heights!
Free Music Review: im not gonna make a pun with "rust in peace" in it Hit: 5 Stars
when i first got this cd i had already heard the first 2 songs, holy wars and hanger 18. i must not have let it grow on me enough because i didnt like it all that much. i never heard the orignal so i couldnt tell you where the vocals were replaced and how it sounds, but i think dave sounds pretty good on this overall. i now love all the songs, including the demos and my creation (although a metal song about frankinstein's bride is a little questionalble). the demos are a little different from the originals. i really dont know what makes me like them as much as i do. dawn patrol is a little... song i guess, about air pollution. its just a bass line and dave or someone rapping but it makes laugh, and i dont mean that in a bad way either. i just think it sounds pretty funny, especially the little rat squealing thing at the end. holy wars i a classic and hangar 18 is one of my favorites, the solo battle type thing at the end is awesome, but i love what the song is written about as i am very interested in aliens, government conspiricies, ect. take no prisoners is an awesome war song. poison was the cure is way too short but still great and all the other songs are also excellent. so, if your a fan of thrash and you dont have this, you may want to give yourself a new title.
Free Music Review: Rust In Peace: One of the greatest records of all time. Hit: 5 Stars
'Rust In Peace' is certainly a metal masterpiece. I'm listening to it right now. On Five Magics right now. But....I digress. This is a sensational piece of art. I'm so very glad I own this record. I got it for Christmas a few years back and have been in love with it ever since. No album I have had since then can stand up to the sheer technicality and brilliance of Megadeth's 4th offering. Just a brilliant piece of work. Any metal fan must own this piece of music. Megadeth is highly underrated, and it's sad to see that they are not considered one of the greatest bands of all time. Oh well. I know I'll always love them and I hope you will too if you pick this album up. Trust me. You will not be dissapointed. Megadeth has snarling vocals(they actually are vocals that mean something, that have a message behind them), amazing guitar work( Mustaine and Friedman worked together to create a blazing guitar duo), superb technicality(this music is not simple to play. 'Five Magics', alone, could take you a good while to even be sub-par at perfecting if you play guitar. It's like 5 songs in one), and an all around rhythmic masterpiece. Once again, metal fans should buy this record. It's literally required. Good day. Bang your head 'til it bleeds!
Free Music Review: 5 Star album, 5 Star Remix Hit: 5 Stars
Normally, I would be the first guy to scream in disgust when artists remix their older albums. ZZ Top would be the best example of the horror that can happen when you remix your back catalog. However, in this case (and Raw Power by Iggy & the Stooges), the remix of Rust In Peace sounds better than it ever did.
In comparison to the original cd (which wasn't produced bad to begin with) it is mindblowing. This is the best possible example of how relevant good music can be with the right production. From the intro riffs of Holy Wars, it's clear that this remix is worth its weight in gold. I hadn't really listened to this cd on a regular basis since middle school when it came out and I have to say, it hasn't left my cd player all week. There have been many differing opinions on Dave's remixes but Rust in Peace is a home run. All a classic album like that needs is a fresh remaster/remix and it makes all the modern metal acts blush.
Remastering old albums is par for the course and hard to mess up.
Remixing is playing with fire but Dave succeeds 100% on this cd.
In short, if you don't have the remix, you're missing out. It's like going from an 8-track tape to a CD. Enjoy.
Free Music Review: megadeth's MASTERPIECE just as metalica's got "master"... Hit: 5 Stars
this is the top creation of megadeth throughout all the years.
they've had many great albums, but this is their one true masterpiece.
just like metallica's got "master of puppets", pantera's got "cowboys from hell" and radiohead's got "ok computer".
it's the band's finest period with it's best drummer, best bass player, and the legendary guitarist MARTY FRIDMAN , also well known for his solo albums and past days with JASON BECKER.
* the album starts with the furious fast strong and well built riffs of HOLY WARS,which is one of their better written songs to date if u ask me.
the song is mostly about stupidity of humanity when it comes to wars,fightings,killings.... "killing for religion, something i dont understand".....
* hangar 18 is one of the "hits" on this album and one of their more known songs. a well known riff and a killing solos "battle" in the end between mustain and friedman.
you can hear the effort on every song. it just floats out of them.
the album is strong ,angry and fast all the way, well written riffs and well put solos.
dave's singing is hilarious and cinical, his writing is focused.
a masterpiece indeed.
