Free Music Notes for Rust in PeaceFree Music Review: last of the megadeth great cds Hit: 5 Stars
this was truely a great cd upon it release fury of thrash metal they had fresh blood marty friedmen, nick mensa and they were also uot to prove themselves to the world nick another drum tech worth his weight in gold and marty a solo musican and guitar shredder fit the mold well. this cd had so much in it sometimes you wondered if dave was paid buy the minutes on the cd or the riffs he could squeeze in one song. all in all a fast and technical cd Marty and dave worked off each other like dave and chris many time you could have thought they were sparing(sometimes the solos were really out of place with lenght and ping ponging back and forth.nick did some real great drumming and has alot of energy and dave Jr. was showing threw the mix more. this cd showed the world megadeth was real taking a shot at the title and more than a one trick pony, they tried new and very originial structures in songs.high points holy wars,5 magics, tornado, take no prisoners,& rust in piece. My creation was on thr remasters and was a great song also. they should have taken the momentium from this cd and recorded something similar to this in stead of countdown and they could have showed up metallica by not following their lead but Music Review: The best Megadeth album of all time Hit: 5 Stars
1990's "Rust in Peace" found Megadeth undergoing another lineup change, only this one would stay together for a while, and was undoubtadly the best lineup the band ever had. Joining Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellefson were guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza, and from the opening track on it is apparent that this was Megadeth at their very best and found the band stepping out of Metallica's shadow. The vocals have been re-recorded, taking out the reverb and sounding crisper and cleaner than before. Opening track and fan favorite "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due" sounds better than ever on this remastered edition of the album, along with "Hanger 18", "Take No Prisoners", "Lucretia", and "Tornado of Souls" sounding better than ever as well. A few bonus tracks are included as well: demos of "Rust in Peace...Polaris", "Holy Wars", and "Take No Prisoners", along with a previously unreleased track entitled "My Creation", which are nice little bonuses. While purists will say the original version of "Rust in Peace" is the real deal, this is definitely worth buying if you are a Megadeth fan and don't already own it, but if you do don't feel the need to shell out the cash for it.
Free Music Review: Best Metal Album Ever? Hit: 5 Stars
This has to be one of the best metal albums I've ever heard, next to Blind Guardian's Imaginations From the Other Side.
Holy Wars... the Punishment Due - 10/10 Incredible, great solo's and outstanding riffs. Probably my favorite song.
Hanger 18 - 9.5/10 THE song for metal guitar solo's.
Take No Prisoners - 9/10 Great intro riff and a nice chorus.
Five Magics - 8.5/10 Cool and a little unusual sounding instrumental intro and a decent second half
Poison Was The Cure - 9/10 This song would be a 10/10 if the first minute was just taken out and the second part were the entire song. The dual guitars are interwoven to produce such a fast thrashy sound, it's amazing.
Lucretia - 9/10 Just in general a very good song.
Tornado of Souls - 9.9/10 Great riffage and chorus, not to mention one of my favorite solo's ever! Not a 10/10 because it can't be equal to Holy Wars.
Dawn Patrol - 4/10 Meh, I think of it as an intro to Rust In Peace... Polaris. I wont penalize an album for bad songs... they can just be skipped.
Rust In Peace... Polaris - 9.5/10 A very strong song.
Free Music Review: How could I not own this album? Hit: 5 Stars
I'll be the first to admit that Ive only recently (in the last 5 years) gotten into metal. I think Mudvayne was the first "heavy" band that got me away from listening to Dave Matthews band all the time. In the progress, Ive bought all of In Flames material, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, half of Dark Tranquillity's catalog, Pre-Black Album metallica, Testament, Exodus, Etc... I try to sample everything.. Which brings me to R.I.P.
Ive got to say, the one thing that always has turned me off about Megadeth, was Dave's vocals. Something about his voice turned me off.. but damn. This album is freaking amazing. being a long time guitarist, its the first thing I look for in a band. The textures of sound are just unreal; I now see why so many people put this album up there with the classics, and its deserving. Dawn Patrol, Hangar 18, Holy Wars... and every other track is good.
Metal Heads already know this, though. so this review isnt going to help many... but if you're like me, and are still getting deeper into what metal is all about, check this out and see where some of the new-era metal bands are getting their styles; its all here.
Free Music Review: awesome record Hit: 5 Stars
Rust in Peace is an awesome record. If anyone is looking to get into speed or thrash metal, this is the album for you. Each track has something good about it.
Holy Wars-Great song. I really like the "punishment due" part.50/50
Hangar 18-Second best song on the album. Love the trade-off solos.50/50
Take No Prisoners-Fast song, but gets old quick. Lyrics are offensive.30/50
Five Magics-Very progressive, overall great song. Lyrics again a bit offensive.45/50
Poison Was The Cure-Fastest, overall thrashiest song on the record. A bit repetitive.40/50
Lucretia-Marty rips a solo at towards the end. That solo itself adds an extra 10 points.47/50
Tornado of Souls-Near perfect metal song.50/50
Dawn Patrol-A filler track with a cool bass line-30/50
Rust in Peace-totally underrated.50/50
My Creation-OK song.40/50
demos are just crappy sounding versions of Holy Wars, Take No Prisoners, and Rust in Peace. never listened to them. great if you like bad production.
Overall, I urge anyone who likes/wants to like thrash or speed metal to pick this album up.
