Free Music Review: Not much new, but it brings me hope
Hit: 4 Stars

This album only has a few new tracks on it, and repeats some from the live album as well as some from The World Needs a Hero. The new tracks included are well worth it (Conjuring, Time). I think this was simply a filler to keep Megadeth fans hopeful until Mustaine can come back (and he will be back, I pray). Love the title and the idea, but I can see how some will be disappointed. The way I look at it, any new Megadeth is good Megadeth.

Free Music Review: WHY IS EVERYONE DOGGING THIS RELEASE?
Hit: 5 Stars

I THINK THIS IS AN AWESOME RELEASE. WHAT BETTER WAY TO GET A MEGADETH FAN INTO MEGADETH. THIS CD OFFERS SOME AWESOME LIVE TRACKS FROM MEGADETH'S CAREER (Holy Wars, Symphony, etc.)+SOME OF THEIR BEST SONGS FROM THEIR LATEST ALBUM, THE WORLD NEEDS A HERO. I ALREADY KNOW 2 PEOPLE WHO GOT INTO MEGADETH AFTER LISTENING TO THIS CD. THE REASON FOR THIS IS BECAUSE THIS CD IS CLEVER BECAUSE IT BASICALLY COMBINES RUDE AWAKENING WITH HERO. THIS IS A GOOD IDEA FOR CURRENT FANS. WE HAVE A NICE COMBINATION OF 2 ALBUMS, BUT ALSO 3 NEW SONGS THAT, ALONE, MAKE THIS CD WORTHY OF BUYING. IT ALSO GIVES US 3 NEW LIVE TRACKS: TIME, USE THE MAN, AND THE CONJURING. I THINK THIS CONJURING IS EVEN BETTER THAN THE ONE ON PEACE SELLS. TIME AND USE THE MAN ARE ALSO AWESOME. ANOTHER THING, THE REST OF THE LIVE TRACKS ON THIS CD HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED BEFORE. SOME OF THESE LIVE SONGS WERE RELEASED ON RUDE AWAKENING, WHICH WAS RECORDED IN PHOENIX, AZ (except for the peace sells medley, which was recorded in Tucson the day before), BUT THE SONGS ON STILL ALIVE ARE NOT THE EXACT SAME ONES... And the rest of these live tracks are some of the other songs recorded in Tucson. So none of these live tracks have been released before. The live tracks are all awesome. Holy Wars [is great], and the rest are all awesome. ANOTHER THING, THIS IS MEGADETH!, A BAND THAT HAS BEEN DISBANDED. IT'S AWESOME TO HEAR FROM DAVE MUSTAINE AGAIN (HE WRITES A MESSAGE ON THE INSIDE COVER) SAYING THAT HE'S ALIVE AND WELL... AWESOME CD, MEGADETH

Free Music Review: Where's your head Dave? (or Sanctuary...)
Hit: 2 Stars

With the ghost of the once mighty Megadeth hanging above the heavy metal world, Sanctuary Records has decided to release this compilation featuring two whole unreleased live tracks, a few other live songs from Megadeth's first domestic live album "Rude Awakening" which was released earlier this year, and six tracks from Megadeth's "World Needs a Hero" which was released last year. The two unreleased live tracks ("Time" and "The Conjuring") are worth a listen or two, and if this was priced quite a bit lower I could maybe warrant a purchase, but if you already own "World Needs a Hero" and "Rude Awakening" than there is absolutely no point in wasting money on this. I just hope that Megadeth will return someday so Sanctuary Records doesn't have to keep putting these types of compilations out just to fulfil a record contract.

Free Music Review: There just isn't an excuse for this....
Hit: 1 Stars

When I first heard that Megadeth was releasing this "album", I thought,"Cool, a couple live tracks, and maybe some unreleased songs, b-sides, etc." Damn, was I ever wrong!!!
Megadeth basically [disappointed] us over with this one...six leftovers from the RUDE AWAKEING live album, and half of THE WORLD NEEDS A HERO, which was their last album! Let's face it, the only people still buying Megadeth albums are long-time die-hards, so chances are, anyone thinking of buying this album already owns TWNAH or RUDE AWAKEING. So why bother? There is no point.
I realize Dave Mustaine wants to make a buck, but c'mon!!!
I've bought all their albums over the last 15 years or so, I'm a longtime fan from when I was like 12 listening to PEACE SELLS...and I've never felt ripped off like this.
Save your money for something else...anything else!!!!
Cheap money grab / contract fulfillment I guess.....

Free Music Review: What the Heck?
Hit: 2 Stars

Stupid Me, I picked up this CD without reading the track listing before buying. I thought it was just made up of unreleased live tracks. I eventually found out while reading the track listing in my car that half of it is unreleased live tracks, while the rest is old material previously released on The World Needs A Hero album. So Why Bother? Why didn't they release the rare and hard to find tracks like DUKE NUKEM, CROWN OF WORMS, ONE THING, COMING HOME, NEW WORLD ORDER, SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION (THE GRISTLE MIX), and TRUST (ECW INSTRUMENTAL REMIX) along with the live tracks. Those tracks are harder than heck to come by, so they should've released them instead! AGHHHHHH Only buy if your a completist. Hopefully Megadeth will release another album sometime in the future with all of their rare tracks much in the vein of Hidden Treasures. We can only hope.
