Free Music Notes for The System Has FailedFree Music Review: Awesome Hit: 5 Stars
Ok, I'm not really a kid. Anyway, I only got into Megadeth a year ago, and TSHF was my very first album from their library. I had always listened to Metallica back in the day, and I was aware of Mustaine and Megadeth, but never got around to listening to their work. I was missing out. For their earlier work, I have KIMB through Youthanasia, and TSHF is probably my favorite. People will compare it to RUST and always say that is not as good, well too me it is just a little better. Rust in peace is phenomenal. Let's look at an overview of the cd's content
Blacmail the Universe- Extremely fast riffing coupled with politically heated lyrics make this the opitome of "MEGADETH" 5 Stars
Die Dead Enough- Beautiful guitar work from one of my favorites, Chris Poland. THe lyrical verses are a bit short but very powerful-more of a Mustaine song than a Megadeth- 5 stars
Kick the Chair- diehard thrash song with battling solos between Poland and Mustaine- very representative of the albums title- 4 stars
Scorpion- a bit slower tempo than the previous titles, but Mustaines solos are mind blowing- 5 stars
Tears in a Vial- Again feels like a Mustaine solo work, and it is subsequently the weakest link on the album- 3 stars
I know Jack- filler, very short and basic sound- 2.5 stars
Back in the Day- awesome riffing, kind of tired and hokey lyrics but still a good song- great solos from both Poland and Mustaine
Something I'm Not- the first song from this album I heard before getting it, it's also the most hateful song targeted towards Lars and the rest of Metallica- great quitar work from Mustaine who does all the solos, also his son chimes in the background further disrespecting the Metallicats, very funny. 5 stars
Truth be Told- The slowest song on the album will take some time growing on you. THe second half of the song has some brutal riffing. It's lyrical content is also very deep and thought provoking.3.5 stars
Of Mice and Men- ANother Mustaine piece- it has some very cliched lyrics but is worth listening too every so often 3.5 stars
Shadow of Deth- Mustaine shows his religious side with a passage from the bible followed by one of the best solos ever put out. The solo's structure is very tight and flawless.1000000000 stars
My Kingdom- a short song that is more like a literary work- awesome sound to it 4 stars
Free Music Review: Oh....my...GOD. Hit: 5 Stars
This may just as well be the BEST album I have ever heard, and that's no joke. This is not the same Megadeath that some of you may remember, but I think they've improved SO MUCH.
Blackmail the Universe - Awesome opening song, very political and almost macabre. 8/10
Die Dead Enough - This song ROCKS. Definately one of my favorite on the CD. Lots of different types of vocals and the lyrics are amazing. 10/10
Kick the Chair - Another political song. Great, the rhythym is what really caught my attention. Not the best song on the CD, but really close up there. 7/10
Scorpion - THE BEST SONG EVER. This is my favorite song of all time and definately the best on the CD. Mustaine's vocals are accompanied by what reminds me of a little demon that sort of echoes behind him. A rather creepy song, but nonetheless, the best. 11/10
Tears in a Vial - Eh, honestly, this song isn't that great. the story behind the song is great, but personally I did not like this song at all. 4/10
I Know Jack - A 40 second song! Who ever thought of that? XD This one's not for lyrics or vocals, enjoy the music and ignore the rest. 8/10
Back in the Day - This song might take some getting used to, but nonetheless promising. The lyrics are a bit confusing, so I try to ignore them and appreciate the vary of different vocals. 6/10
Something I'm Not - I love this song because I know that everyone can relate to it somehow. Sort of a ranty song, not a very unique vocal presentation or music. But the last line is very awesome. 9/10
Truth be Told - Yet another top song on this CD. The vocals and music blend perfectly together and the lyrics are amazing. This is a personal favorite of mine. 9/10
Of Mice and Men - Sort of a life story. The rythym is very catchy, not really a dancy sort of beat. A good song, but not great. 8/10
Shadow of Deth - This song is just sort of...weird XD But I love it anyway. There is no singing, just some guy talking about God and such. Yay! a religious song! The beat is the best, I think. 10/10
My Kingdom Come - The beat and rythym is the only thing I like about this song. It seemed sort of forced in at the end, definately not a great song. 5/10
Free Music Review: The System HAS FAILED Hit: 5 Stars
Amazing, way much better than what I was expecting, since it was recorded with hired musicians only. Dave Mustaine really kicked asses with this one!
It's cool to notice that this album haves a style of its own, but at the same time, reminds us of pretty much all Megadeth albuns so far.
1. blackmail the universe (10/10)
- great opener. You just gotta love the beggining with the female reporter saying: "...this is breaking news - the Air Force One was shot down somewhere at the middle east..." Great song
2. die dead enough (7/10)
- I had to listen to it a couple of times to get used to it, but I'm starting to really like this song now.
3. kick the chair (10/10)
- Yeeeesssss!!! This song is really close to "Take no Prisioner" from RIP, but it's way much better IMO.
4. the scorpion (10/10)
- Very innovative track, really really good.
5. tears in a vile (9/10)
- Very similar to a Cryptic Writing song.
6. i know jack (x/10)
- Not really a song, just an introduction to the next one.
7. back in the day (10/10)
- Amazing song, with insane riffs. I really reminds me of "Eye of the Tornado", from RIP.
8. something im not (8/10)
- This Track could be on TWNAH album, specially due to that introductory guitar riff. Cool song, people are saying it is directed to Lars Ulrich and I think that they are probably right.
9. truth be told (9/10)
- A song that might fit into the "Risk" album, with a killer tempo change near the end.
10. of mice and men (10/10)
- My favourite track. It has elements from CTE, CW and Risk, with good lyrics and a really catchy chorus.
11. shadows of deth (x/10)
- Kinda reminds a remixed version from the song "Into the Kungs of Hell", that had a "demoniac" voice leading it, just like this one. Way too short though.
12. my kingdom (8/10)
- Good ending, with a solid rock/metal song here.
Conclusion: This is a great albunm, that has blown away my weak expectations. Mustaine is BACK!
Free Music Review: this should be retitled St. Mustaine, oh wait this has solos Hit: 5 Stars
You know the story, Metallica vs. Megadeth, who's better?, who's faster?, blah, blah, blah, the bottom line is if Megadeth carbon copies Metallica album after album what the hell happened here? I mean, Dave Mustaine, and Megadeth have a drummer that plays drums and not a frickin' garbage can on this album unlike on Metallica's St Anger. Megadeth also welcomes back Chris Poland to do lead guitar and solos and unlike Metallica with no solos on St. Anger. And more importantly, Dave is actually singing on the new album unlike James Hetfield on St. Anger who screams, barks, shouts, and basically sounds like ca-ca throughout! So all you Metallica worshippers and Mega-haters all rolled up into one, where are your stupid comparisons to Metallica with this new Megadeth album? Huh!!That's what I thought. Dave Mustaine is a musical genius, who actually has always been better than Metallica and always will be, writing intelligent lyrics with substance, i.e. Foreclosure of a Dream, Breadline, Kick the Chair. Whereas James Hetfield always writes about fire, anger, hate, black, fire, death, hatred, blah, blah, blah the most annoying being the lyrics in Enter Sandman, "it's just the beasts under your bed, in your closet, in your head!". What the hell is James singing about? What beasts? Who the hell is and what is a Sandman? I don't get it?!?! To say Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction is a carbon-copy to Metallica's 1991 black album is ridiculous! Megadeth are head -n- shoulders above Metallica, musically, lyrically, and with intelligence. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs therapy just like Metallica did. Come on, St. Anger was the worst piece of crap I ever heard..."I'm madly in anger with you...I'm madly in anger with you" Is James talking about Dave Mustaine, Is James jealous of Dave? I don't know? What the hell James is saying in any of his songs! I do know this, Dave (St.) Mustaine has scored a grand slam with The System Has Failed. It's a wonderful, thrash-paced record with solos, songs about politics, laws, life experiences (which you can get a message from), etc.
Megadeth >>> - Metallica (this is Metal up your asses Lars and James)
Free Music Review: A great way to end a fabulous career. Hit: 5 Stars
If you dont know by now, The System Has Failed will be Megadeth's last studio offering, and what a great offering it is. Who would have thought that Dave Mustaine would come back and strike with spit fire hits, a blend of new and old, which hint upon Countdown To Extinction and Youthenasia. (I hope I spelled those right) Thrash legend and pioneer Dave Mustaine does not dissapoint on this album lyrically, his lyrics will haunt you for decades as any Megadeth fan should know. Here is a break down of all the tracks.
Blackmail The Universe: 10/10
Die Dead Enough: 9/10
Kick The Chair: 10/10
The Scorpian: 9/10
Tears In A Vial: 8/10
I know Jack: 40 second instrumental: 5/10 great riffs and drums, Dave should have made it in to a full instrumental track.
Back In The Day: 11/10 My fav track.
Something Im Not: 8/10
Truth Be Told: 8/10
Of Mice and Men: 8/10
Shadow of Death: 5/10 another small snippet, could have done more with it
My Kingdom Come 9/10
This album is way better then their last two efforts combined. This album should get all the neumetal fans in to Megadeth and away from the utter cheese that is going around, a great album to start of you Megadeth collection. Some people compare evreything Megadeth do to Rust In Peace, this is by no means Rust In Peace 2, however it is a great album. Great return for a thrash legend. If you compare evreything ANY ARTIST does to Megadeth's Rust In Peace, you will never satisfy yourself b/c nothing can top Rust In Peace, even Metallicas Master of Puppets, Ride The Lightning, and And Justice For All fall victim to Rust In Peace. Let it rest in peace and open your mind and enjoy The System Has Failed, Ive gone through the album once and love it. This is also one of those albums that you have to listen to a million times to appriciate and grow on you, Once Ive done this I will post another review. Hope this helps, Get this album today, you will not be dissapointed.
