Free Music Review: Great new talent!
Hit: 5 Stars

Melody had a unique style - kind of a mix between Norah Jones, Diana Krall and Eva Cassidy. I thoroughly enjoy this CD and I don't get tired of it. It is a fresh sound and her own style. The mix is varied and she changes it up from bluesy to folksy to jazzy. You will be glad you bought this CD!

Free Music Review: "Unchained" Melody...
Hit: 4 Stars

just saw "Sweeney Todd" and the character Johanna (who was the daughter of Sweeney Todd / Johnny Depp) reminded me of Melody Gardot. Both were temporarily confined to their bedroom, (especially Melody after her debilitating accident)...Johanna says..."if I cannot fly, let me sing". Johanna's love interest also asks her "do they think walls can hide you?" No, Melody, walls cannot hid you or your "melodic" voice...
Yes, there is a similarity to Norah Jones, but much more here...it's impressive that she wrote all of these songs, but I would love to hear her sing some of the classic standards sung by Diana krall or even Shirley Horn...

Free Music Review: Very good, easy to listen to, and it grows on you!
Hit: 5 Stars

Certainly reminiscent of Norah Jones, perhaps a bit jazzier, but after several listenings I am buying it for my friends.

Free Music Review: Take note of this emerging new artist
Hit: 5 Stars

We saw Melody Gardot perform live in December 2006 and were impressed by her vocal styling and maturity. Worrisome Heart contains a great mix of tracks, it's hard to choose a favorite. If you like jazz or blues, you should check out this CD. I've purchased extra copies for gifts so that friends can discover this great young artist.

Free Music Review: ... a wealth of wishes ...
Hit: 4 Stars

Leading with the title track, Philly-based singer-songwriter Gardot has her Pink-Panther, moondance groove graced with a chance trumpet, adding a sweet touch of jazz to her acoustic ruminations. So it goes through each track. Gardot's garden of Janis-Ian confessional folk, Shelby-Lynne naked country, and Billie-Holiday wistful defiance is dotted with sprays of improvised clarinet, violin, or cello. This classy set is a sophisticated step-up from the raw, piano-based demos occasionally heard on local NPR affiliates and college radio. It's as if Gardot's history of heartbreaks (which she credits) and her life-altering auto accident gave her a set of newly opened windows to her soul. This 34-minute teaser of a debut promises a wealth of wishes from this worrisome heart.
