I enjoyed this quirky movie when it came out, but the soundtrack is just fantastic! This is a great compilation of wonderful music. I love movies and am always noting the soundtrack deciding on whether it is something to buy. I have worn out two CD's of this one and now want another for myself and one to give to a friend. Who knew Queen Latifah had musical chops like this? Too bad she wastes her talent on so much rap music. She was beautiful in the movie too. Buy it, Keep it!Free Music Review: THE QUEEN is masterful

If you purchased this for the first track alone it is more than worth it. Superb!!! The subtlety, range and perfection of pitch meshed with the emotional interpretation on LUSH LIFE can not be outdone. All the rest is gravy and there's a lot. Critics didn't care so much for the film--I loved it, and audiences seemed to miss the black humor and interplay of music with plot advancement; but for me the film and the music merged and are stellar. If you like jazz and easy listening this album is for you. And who really blew me away was Queen Latifa. I had no idea she could sing like that. She should be doing more jazz songs, she has such a pure voice. I play this over and over in my car I can't get enough. She's up there with Lena Horne in my book. Queen Latifah shocked me. She has a beautiful voice. She needs to do a jazz album with the right promoters. If I didn't know it was her, I would swear it was Nancy Wilson. This soundtrack is a perfect mix. There is nothing on here that I don't love. I won't even buy a CD unless I know that I love at least 5 songs. This CD has sky-rocketed to the top of favorites list.Free Music Review: I love this CD!

This is a fabulous CD! I just got it yesterday and I've been listening to it over and over. Queen Latifah has a new fan in me, especially if she releases a CD of standards. Every song is distinct and doesn't suffer from any identity problems like some jazz tracks seem to do. I loved all the songs, but have to say Mariah and Celine move over! There's a new Queen in town!
