Free Music Review: MESHUGAH, STILL DRIVING SPIKES INTO YOUR BRAIN
Hit: 5 Stars

I was really impressed with their newest release. I've seen these guys twice now and their show is nothing but mind numbing. Obzen is just as good as Destroy-Erase-Improve.
I've noticed people writing reviews on how "They" didn't get there CD on time in the mail... Get a life! You can't review something so stupid on the music review, try rating the seller you idiots!
Anyways- This release has everything Meshuggah is known for. I really didn't think they could improve, but alas they did. If you love Metal that has meat on it. Or if you love off-time, in-yo-face rhythms, this is for you. The vocals are right there, I don't know how he sings over those obtruse rhythms, must practice alot by sitting in New York traffic with horns blarring and people screaming, trains and explossions going off... Amazing.
Just buy this if you liked them in the past. Or, you can listen to your Green Day CD's instead...NOT!

You will never hear metal this heavy and technical. Period.

I'm fairly new to Meshuggah. I own Obzen, Chaosphere and Destroy Erase Improve. I'm waiting to buy the others though i have illegally downloaded the other albums before i can purchase them. yes, call me a whatever you want, but that is how i operate. This album is Without a doubt the more well blended and eclectic of their catalog. It's Perfect.

I would recommend hearing some of what this sounds like before buying it as it is definately not for everyone, I've tried to get people into it and failed severely.

Oh, and 10 bucks to whoever can guess time signatures and changes exact...

Highlight tracks for me personally,

1. Combustion
3. Bleed
4. Lethargica
5. Obzen
9. Dancers To A Discordant System

Free Music Review: "Clarity so brightly shining"
Hit: 5 Stars

Like many Meshuggah fans I felt they peaked with their fantastic EP "I" which epitomized everything they were working towards with their polyrhythmic Math Metal approach; and with their highly experimental follow-up album "Catch Thirty Three" I was sure their glory days were behind them. I was mistaken. With "Obzen" there is an amazing infusion of groove added to each and every track, seemlessly infusing this new direction with their already jaw-dropping, calculated Progressive Metal time signatures. Influences from bands like Tool and Mastodon come to mind frequently throughout this recording, the albums "Lateralus" and "Leviathan" most notably. The result is Meshuggah's best and certainly most memorable album yet. Each song sticks with power and precision all the while feeling like parts of brilliant machinery put together into one dynamic creation. Highly recommended.

Obzen, an instant classic... nothing short of what we all come to expect from these machines. Production value is top notch as meshuggah took the recording process and producing their album into their own hands, once again. This just goes to show how talented and innovative these five individuals are. Everyone into heavy music could use a little a' this in there life. Released by nuclear blast, and still paving new territory in individualized textures, while retaining their very characterized, and now, very trademarked sound. The only thing I would have added (if they asked me...) would have been a more involved attempt to explore their more melodic, atmospheric tendencies. But they didn't ask me and I cannot complain either way, they are still all that is truly innovative metal today, and I have a feeling, for awhile...

Free Music Review: INCOMPARABLE, IMPECCABLE MASTERPIECE
Hit: 5 Stars

This album has, for me, turned the world of music on its head. No matter how many times you listen to the tracks, you never get bored; this seems to be the common bug behind the music of today. It's capriciousness is startlingly fresh. The lyrics awaken us to the bleak world in which we live, and the guitars/bass/drums split the sky of our mind. A treasure trove of philosophical/political/and existential divulgence, which should make the average "thinker" relish in many an orgasmic climax. Really, how many albums out there can you name that actually make you think?

Is this one of the best albums of all time? Without a shadow of a doubt! This type of celestial artistry (atheistically speaking) deserves our attention.

MESHUGGAH, there is no other...
