Free Music Notes for ObzenFree Music Review: Their Best Hit: 5 Stars
Ok, no song can ever top Future Breed Machine for me, but this album as a whole is easily their best. Nothing is a close second, but that record sounds far too similar throughout. Take Nothing, add more variety and flavor as well as a jackhammer to the face and you get ObZen. Phenomenal and crushing. It is also clear that touring with Tool has rubbed off on these guys: a very good thing. Just listen to the guitar on the first song and you'll know what I'm talking about. But this is not Tool, this is a 28 Days Later zombie on speed tearing at your throat. Buy this album.
Free Music Review: Sound of Future. Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not sure I'd put Obzen in the top tier of Meshuggah albums, as the last couple of tracks don't quite hold my attention, and very little can match the rush that came with hearing their early work for the first time.
But even if Obzen isn't the band's best work, it still sees them exploring their own unique sonic territory and pushing boundaries most bands don't even seem to know exist. For listeners who share Meshuggah's odd sense of adventure, this album gets my unreserved recommendation. Five stars for most bands, five for Meshuggah.
Free Music Review: Behold the Evolution of Mankinds Most Prodigious Mutation Hit: 5 Stars
Meshuggah have very much outdone themselves on this album. Previous works, I've found, all tend to fall below the line of satisfaction. In fact, I don't even consider hitherto their body of work to be all that mentionable. Obzen is a Giant/Epochal leap in the right direction for Meshuggah. It brings everything to the table --- and I mean everything. It's decisively dark, moody, philosophical lyrics and melodies not only entice the adept listener of music, but also the free-thinker as well. Do your life a favor and have a listen.

Free Music Review: Abject Savagery Hit: 5 Stars
This is the only band I have heard since Metallica that I think has significantly advanced the metal genre.
That statement probably pisses people off, but has anyone else made anything this fresh and effective?
Tool, maybe. But, Tool was not a leap in intensity from Metallica.
"Bleed" is the most savage song I have ever heard.
Love it. This album should come with a Surgeon General's Warning.
Free Music Review: Now this truly is a classic. Hit: 5 Stars
I'm a brand new fan of this band so I admit that they may have released some better records prior to this...I wouldn't know. All I know is that this is the absolute best death metal record I have ever heard asside from maybe only one other (by the band Death). I love this album...it is so dark, serious, and genuinely technical. These guys are real muscians. Wow!!!! I'm addicted to this album. Incredible muscianship!!!!
