Free Music Notes for Live Shit: Binge & Purge (CD & DVD)

Free Music Review: I was there !!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

What can you say when your favorite band issues a record of the concert they played at your city ?? there's no way to be objective and neutral, this is for me the best live record ever made, in the peak of Metallica's career, with an audience (Mexico City) that waited for 15 years to see Metallica live so you can feel the people extasis on each track.

Some of you may not be aware that Metallica was supposed to play only 2 dates in Mexico City but they sold out both concerts in 2 hours (50,000 tickets), so they cancelled Hawaii and stayed to play 3 more nights. I attended two of the nights and saw people outside the arena trading jewelry and watches for a ticket, absolutely crazy. Metallica changed the track list every night, and this record has the best pieces of each of the five concerts. A must to have for any Metalli-fan.

The only negative is that the boxset only contains audio from Mexico City, not a single video.

Man, I felt myself nostalgic.

Free Music Review: An awesome classic rereleased
Hit: 5 Stars

Thats right folks. You Metallicats can finally own your own copies of Binge and Purge without the quality ever degenerating! I think the Seattle DVD captures the Metallica Juggernaut at the hight of its career. The Justice show captures the band with a ferocity that has not been seen in recent years. The sound quality of each disk is awesome. The thundering guitars and deep thump of Lars' bass drum is clearer than ever. Blackened live is something not to be missed and the full version of Master of Puppets is awesome. NOt to mention rare jems like ANd Justice for all and the awesomely heavey sound of Thing That Should not Be..pay attention to Jaymz delayed growling in the middle it is pretty cool. The San Francisco show has an awesome drum solo on it and captures the Deep Purple classic "Mistreated." These two disks truly capture the fresh fame of Metallica as they were enjoying the newness of success. An absolute must for any serious Metallica fan.

Free Music Review: The next to the last great effort from Metallica
Hit: 5 Stars

If you have never seen this concert set before, you are in for a surprise.

The ....And Justice For All live DVD is enough to make this set worth every penny spent. This concert shows Metallica at their best (except I think if Cliff Burton had survived his tragedy this Disc set would have been even better.) The Black album concert is fair but not as flashing as the ...And Justice For All concert. Even the C.D.'s are quite a trill, if you bypass the back to back solos. I especially was shocked the first time I heard this set since it includes "So What" (a song that was unreleased in the Metallica Catalog prior to this sets original release.)

Like this review states this was one of the last great efforts form this band (Okay Okay Garage Inc. was great, but everything else wince this Box set has sucked. Just hope their new bassiest will bring back this one time great band.)

Free Music Review: Way Too Freakin Cool!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Its been a long time since I have given Metallica 5 Stars. Missing the cut includes (Re)Load, S&M, Garage Inc (4 stars for Garage). Anyway I never owned the 1993 box set (Couldn't afford it back then) and couldn't find a record store to have it when I could.
Anyway this CD is like reliving one of many Metallica concerts that I have attended. Yes there is no 5.1 Audio Remix, but then again I have bought live import CD's like "Loaded For The Bear" and when you hear that sound quality, (Like somebody used a cassete recorder in the back seats) you really appreciate the quality of this set. Everything "Black" and before (Which is the best Metallica anyway) is on this CD.
After being diasppointed with St Anger I bought this and my Metallica fix is all good now. For someone that never had the 93 set and only had live ...imports, I'm extremely happy!!!

Free Music Review: THE GREATEST LIVE COLLECTION EVER MADE!!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This box set is just excellent!!! Three CD's of audio (Live in Mexico City, February/March 1993) and two DVD's of video (San Diego, January 1992; Seattle, August 1989), now in a more convenient package than the original, and a bit cheaper. Where most groups would just throw together a half-baked live compilation, leave it to a group like Metallica, who truly gives their rabid fans nothing but the best, to amass a thunderous set like this. The Mexico City set is really good, though there is a sharp drop in audio quality between discs 2 and 3. The San Diego set is pretty cool, but it's the Seattle set (taken from the "Damaged Justice Tour 1989") that is worth the price of this collection alone!!!! I don't know what else can be said about this killer live package other than if you buy it, you will want to watch it and listen to it all the time!!!
