Free Music Notes for MetallicaFree Music Review: Unarguably the greatest Metallica album... Hit: 5 Stars
...And arguably the greatest album ever. This album is simply mesmerizing.Stunning. Pros: *Quite simply, the greatest Metallica album of all time. *The songs are AWESOME!Here's a quick take: -"Enter Sandman":the biggest Metallica song.Listen to it and you'll know why.Hot Hammett solo.Scary rhythm guitars. -"Sad But True":pure power stomp. The instruments are so powerful, that you might get disoriented when you turn on the volume to a high level! -"Holier Than Thou":one word:AGGRESSIVE!You know what, make it two words:AGGRESSIVE AND POWERFUL! Fast, furious, powerful, punishing, with hot solos.I don't know why I have this strong feeling that it's aimed at music critics. -"The Unforgiven":a new kind of song for Metallica, since they used orchestral instruments for the first time,if I'm correctly informed.Heart-breaking song.Hammett's solo makes it even sadder.A great display of James' song-writing abilities. -"Wherever I May Roam":an instant classic, this is one of Metallica's finest songs.Cool opening, excellent lyrics, burning solos(one of Hammett's hottest solos),this song is pure art. -"Don't Tread on Me":not one of my favorites(yes, you guessed right:I still listen to this album every single day),but didn't Metallica have a different point of view about this issue in "...And Justice For All"? -"Through The Never":powerful song.Excellent lyrics, cool guitars(especially James'),strong ending. This one song everyone will love. -"Nothing Else Matters":is it just me,or is Metallica very close to writing a love song(I hope not!)?You'll know what I mean when you hear this song.James' voice was warm, the instruments were amazing(Michael Kamen, the maestro behind the current Metallica S&M album, worked with them on this song). -"Of Wolf and Man":probably the most powerful Metallica song. It's the perfect Metallica song. The opening has to be the most powerful opening you'll ever hear. This is what this song is all about:pure power. Great opening, great instruments, great lyrics, great vocals, great ending and great solos.Everything is great about this song.Sometimes,I find my self singing the four first guitars, and then continuing with the drums,by stomping the ground or by punching the noisiest thing around, like a table or something! That's how obsessed I am with this song. It's virtually that powerful. -"My Friend of Misery":mediocre. -"The Struggle Within":old-style-Metallica. *Metallica changed their style to a better one. Cons: Musically,I can't think of anything. Bottom line:unless you've been living under a rock for the last ten years, you already have this album, right?

Metallica's sixth studio album, "Metallica," is in my opinion incredible. It is nicknamed "The Black Album" for its jet black cover. This is the third studio album featuring bassist Jason Newsted, who replaced Cliff Burton after he died in a tragic bus crash. The black album is one of their more popular albums, with such radio hits as "Enter Sandman," "Sad But True," "Unforgiven," and the ballad "Nothing Else Matters." The album takes you trough a journey, beginning on the energetic "Enter Sandman" and ending on the heavy, fast-paced riffing and almost rap like vocals of "Struggle Within." The cd kicks off with "Enter Sandman," a song with lyrics about nightmares and things that go bump in the night. This isn't a very good song in my opinion, good, but not enough for me to particularly like. The second track, "Sad But True" dishes out lyrics dealing with the bad side in every human being, and possesses two solos and a guitar themed interlude, not to mention a huge, heavy, crushing verse riff. Great song. Next is the relentless "Holier Than Thou," offering lyrics and gossip and rumors. The song is very rough and Jason's bass can be heard very well. Not great, but good. "The Unforgiven" is ballad like song, offering lyrics possibly about not enjoying life to the max. The song is great, not to mention an incredible solo. My only complaint is the solo should be way longer. "Wherever I May Roam" is another great song. Relatively slow tempo, but good. It offers up lyrics about being on the road constantly. "Don't Tread On Me" is another favorite, featuring very catchy melodies and riffs. "Through the Never," though not great, delivers nice riffs. Next is the famous ballad, "Nothing Else Matters." Though it is considered to be a message to the fans, it was originally a very emotional song about a loved one, by James Hetfield. The band happened to overhear him playing it and forced him to put it on the album. I guess I am not the only one who thinks this was for the best. "Of Wolf and Man" begins with a pounding riff, developing into a great song. "The God That Failed" is not a favorite, but still a great song, with a catchy verse and lyrics about James' mother's death. His mother was a Christian scientist and refused medical attention believing God would heal her. God `failed,' thus inducing a song. "My Friend of Misery" is a definite favorite. IT offers up great riffing and a melodic approach. The cd ends on a strong note, with the fast-paced and almost rap like "Struggle Within." This cd has brought great enjoyment to me and I would encourage you to look into it. I hope this review was helpful. Ah, doesn't matter as long as you didn't think it totally sucked.
Free Music Review: The Album for New Metallica Fans Hit: 5 Stars
Ok, most of everybody has probably already heard the songs "Enter Sandman," "The Unforgiven" or "Nothing Else Matters." Why? Because they get some radio-play. They are probably the songs that get most listeners into this band and pretty soon they purchase all the albums and become a metallica fan. That's how i became a metallifan because The Black Album was the first studio album i bought. Now i own all the albums and i would have to say that their best are 'Master of Puppets' and 'Ride the Lightning.' But the Black Album is a great album with a more melodic side compared to the previous album "..And Justice for All." Their songwriting has evolved into a more complex meaning. The rhythm in all the songs are very catchy and well all the solos are strong and powerful because Hammett remains as probably one of the best lead guitarist along with Dimebag Darrell, Kerry King and Marty Friedman. Here are reviews for the songs:Enter Sandman: One of their best and most popular songs of all. 5/5 Sad But True: Great song with great drum beats. its too bad kid rock took the rhythm for this song to make 'American Badass.' 4/5 Holier Than Thou: Probably one of the heaviest songs in the album. Otherwise a great song. 4.5/5 The Unforgiven: A great slow song that talks about the government controlling weaker peoples' lives. 5/5 Wherever I May Roam: The intro is really great. This is one of my favorite songs in the album. 5/5 Don't Tread on Me: .."Liberty or Death" this sounds something like from 'Justice for all'. Better than average song. 3.5/5 Through the Never: Another really heavy song. Not as good as Holier Than Thou. 3.5/5 Nothing Else Matters: THE SLOWEST SONG metallica has ever done. It is another radio-played song that is dedicated to loved ones. 4.5/5 Of Wolf And Man: Great intro and a catchy tune. Lars Ulrich does great with this song. some wolf moans and noises make this song be a perfect song for a Werewolf horror movie. 5/5 The God That Failed: Great song with a great bass tune in the beginning. This song is mostly about broken promises. 4.5/5 My Friend of Misery: Another of my favorite songs. It is the longest song in the album and has probably the best songwriting. 5/5 The Struggle Within: The last and probably the heaviest song in the album along with 'Holier' and 'Through the Never'. AMAZING drumming from Ulrich makes this song a favorite for the heavy-preffered fans. 5/5 This album is REALLY GOOD and it's probably the best album to start off from. If you prefer the more heavy-metal style, then 'Master of Puppets' would be the best. But overall, this one and the previous albums are the best.
Free Music Review: The Best Metallica Album, Just... Hit: 5 Stars
Metallica. The name itself says most of what they are all about. Metal. Pure, adrenalin-filled, electrifying heavy metal. This album sums up for me what Metallica are - heavy metal full of energy, speed, talent and desire to succeed. The albums starts off with the unbeatable 'Enter Sandman', undoubtedly the best heavy metal song of all time and contains some of the best pieces of metal ever written, like the classic 'Nothing Else Matters' which still sends shivers down my spine after all those years. The main thing about all these songs is they all compliment each other so well. I don't know how and why this is so but they just seem to glide from track to track. All the songs on this album make you want you to just pick up your guitar and jam the sh*t out of the thing! Please note: do not steal other people's guitars and end up getting fined, its not that good. Songs like 'Enter Sandman', 'Holier Than Thou' and 'Wherever I May Roam' are certainly the best songs to bang your head to, but it's the last four songs on the album that make this album what it is. They aren't as upbeat as the first few but sure as hell worth listening for especially 'Struggle Within', which sounds more like a four minute jamming session than a song , is played at light-speed and with perfect quality and fails to drop below 100%. Only let down on this album is 'Sad But True' which I feel with Metallica's skills could be improved quite a bit. Here's a quick review of each of the songs:1. Enter Sandman - Great tune, great beat, great solo, a classic. 10/10 2. Sad But True - Good song with a great tune that kid rock stole which seems to make sense to say that this is a bit too simple for Metallica. Repeated lyrics aswell. 8/10 3. Holier Than Thou - Very heavy and brilliant lyrics. Love this solo. Nice bass breakdown too. 10/10 4. The Unforgiven - I can't work out what the songs about exactly but it's something like a boy who's life has been restricted by those who have brought him up and they've ruled his life for him ??? It's just the best song on the album with great lyrics, many great tunes, superb solo and Hetfield sings it with so much feeling it's unreal. 10/10 5. Wherever I May Roam - I have always classed Metallica as the best one-tune-per-song band. This song song has basically one big tune that is pure heavy metal. Great guitar work, excellent lyrics, one of the catchy-est Metallica songs. 10/10 6. Don't Tread On Me - Good song with great tune. Slightly wierd lyrics and never really hits me as hard as some of the others although still worthy of its place on the album. 9/10 7. Through The Never -
Free Music Review: Underrated Masterpiece! Hit: 5 Stars
It seems that many Metallica "fans" seem to enjoy putting this album down, for some reason. They claim that, with this album, Metallica lost their edge and sold out. Listening to this album, I'm wondering if we heard the same one. This album may not be quite as epic or technical as previous releases, but it's every bit as thrashy, heavy, and good. This album was my introduction to Metallica a few years back, and I've never stopped loving it. The songs are full of crunch and vitriol, and the two ballads ("Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters") are very emotional and melodic. There are still a lot of great solos, and Lars still dishes out some pretty impressive drumwork (especially on "The Struggle Within"). The production quality is excellent (probably the best of all their albums), so every instrument is distinct and hard-hitting. There are no bad songs, but if you want to hear a great one, check out "The Unforgiven". This is one of the best ballads ever, with very emotional lyrics and a great vocal performance from James Hetfield. If you love heavy metal and do not love this album, there is probably something wrong with you. I rank this album third, behind "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets", and one of my top 20 favorite albums. It's better than "And Justice for All" mainly because of the production quality, and better than "Kill Em All" because that album is too repetitive and rough around the edges (but still very good, mind you), and well, do I even need to explain why it's better than "Load" and "Reload"? The simple fact of the matter is that Metallica was still a great band at this time, and did not sell out with this album. This album was much heavier and better than anything else that was popular at the time (except for Pantera's "Cowboys from Hell"). "Load" and "Reload" were the ones where the music changed for the worse, but even those albums weren't so bad. If Metallica ever did sell out, it wasn't until the awful "I Disappear". If they ever get another bass player, and Hetfield ever gets out of rehab, let's hope they stop doing that kind of stuff and go back to the basics. Megadeth and Iron Maiden already made incredible returns to form with "The World Needs a Hero" and "Brave New World", if Metallica does another album like this, then metal is officially back. Otherwise, they may as well just call it quits. Anyway, buy this album, it is one of the best.
