Free Music Notes for PilgrimageFree Music Review: PILGRIM'S REST Hit: 5 Stars
What a bunch of fellow pilgrams to have on your journey Messrs. Metheny/Hancock/Mehldau/Patitucci/DeJohnette all of which feature often in my music collection. All playing Michael Brecker originals starting with the cross-rhythmic, freeform of 'The Mean Time, to the circular solo travels of 'Five Months From Midnight' and then to the pulsating 'Anagram' and I'm only to track 3. Great soloing from all concerned and a must have for your collection. Micheal Brecker was critically ill when he made this final recording before his untimely death in Jan-2007. Resting in the Reeds with Trane.
Free Music Review: We miss you Michael Hit: 5 Stars
What can you say? Michael Brecker was truly one of the greatest saxophonists that has ever lived. He is my personal favorite, and as a tenor saxophonist, he has had a profound influence on me musically. Like many, I am very saddened by the loss of Michael, and this album is a poignant musical statement from a beautifully complex and unique spirit in his final hour. I would recommend this album, as I would any of his incredible recordings to anyone who can appreciate art of real depth and passion. Five stars are not enough...
Free Music Review: Michael Brecker's final album is simply amazing. Hit: 5 Stars
This is the final album by the late great Michael Brecker, and it does not disappoint! I'm not going to go off on an overly long tangent about how amazing this album is. I'm just going to say that the muscianship, song writing and overall groove of this album put it in the same class as such seminal albums as "Kind Of Blue", "Giant Steps", "Songs in The Key Of Life", "Birds Of Fire" and all the rest of the classics! If you like Jazz/Fusion that is devoid of gimmicks and mindless self indulgence then this album is for you.
Free Music Review: Insert > Press PLAY > Press REPEAT > 7th Heaven Hit: 5 Stars
Since PILGRIMAGE arrived I've listened to it perhaps a hundred times. It is often on REPEAT in my car/kitchen CD player.
The more you listen, the more you hear. Pure joy.
If you've not heard of Michael Brecker but like John Coltrane or Wayne Shorter, give this man a listen. You may, as I found to be true, suddenly find yourself in possession of everything he recorded.
Also, if you're a Pat Metheny fan, you get some of PM's best playing too.

NOT MUCH TO SAY BUT I HAVE THE FEELING THAT THIS RECORDING OPENS NEW PATHS TO MUSICAL STRUCTURE IN JAZZ FROM NOW ON.An excellent RECORDING WITH EXCELLENT GUESTS ACCOMPANYING MICHAEL BRECKER in this fine disc .It is definitely his most powerful effort to show all of us that whoever face life with elegance and grace then dignity will follow him everywhere.IT IS HIS MASTERPIECE FOR MANY REASONS .THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE IS ABSOLUTELY HIS STRENTH TO SHOW THAT MUSICALITY AND HARD TRIAL GOES TOGETHER.
