Free Music Notes for PilgrimageFree Music Review: fabulous Hit: 5 Stars
If you are a fan of Michael Brecker this is a must have. As if the fact that it will be the last cd he ever releases isn't enough reason to purchase it, it is also a remarkable musical masterpiece. I honestly do not know how he managed to play at a level that is above the usual while practically on his death bed. The accompanying musicians are as good as they get as well, so the interaction between players and overall playing is just spectacular throughout.
Free Music Review: Michael Brecker Pilgrimage Hit: 5 Stars
An album to be kept in our minds for a long time.
In his last work, few months after his death, Michael Brecker surpassed all their past works.
He is brilliant, leading a very talented group, comprised of pianists Herbie Hancock and Brad Mehldau, guitarist Pat Metheny, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Jack DeJohnette.
Only original compositions, Higly recommended.
Free Music Review: Masterful Hit: 5 Stars
What a legacy to leave us. If you have listened to Michael Brecker at all over the last 10 years then you need to buy this CD. It both sums up all that has gone before and tells us that there was so much more to come before Michael Brecker was taken from us at a much too early age. Wonderful ensemble playing and briliant extended solos that reference the past and point to the future.
Free Music Review: Exquisite, sublime Hit: 5 Stars
The last album from a true master. Heaven has another of our truly great talents: must be a great band up there! All modern jazz fans simply must buy this, it's essential, packed with superb compositions and craftsmanship. I've played it heaps since purchased, and there's more to find on each listening. Buy now, don't wait!
Free Music Review: Outstanding album Hit: 5 Stars
Michael Brecker was surprisingly (given his illness) up to the task, and performs brilliantly. The writing is among his best, and he has a great group. Jack DeJohnette really drives the band, with great solos delivered by Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny. Easily the most important album of the year.
