Free Music Review: "Call Me Irresponsible ... Michael Buble's performance is Irrestible ... Reprise (2007)"
Hit: 5 Stars

Reprise/ Warner presents "CALL ME IRRESPONSIBLE", featuring pop vocalist of the millennium Michael Buble, the Vancouver crooner with his latest release with new material and some vintage standards --- Canadian crooner's third studio release, is about as responsible as it gets --- featuring an unforgettable youthful style that takes you back to the '40s, '50s and '60s --- listening to every tune on this album brings back memories of Nat King Cole (one of my favorite singers of all time), Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra as they were crooning favorite standards of the day --- Buble is a cross between James Dean and Elvis Presley in appearance, with the style and ability of Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin --- Michael has the uncanny ability to nail each track with his signature style and making it his own.

Buble's performance is impeccable, the renditions are simply from the heart --- one can hardly pick a stand out, entire recording draws on the swinging Clayton-Hamilton Orchestra at his back, plus slow tempos with blends of original sentiment and gorgeous melodies in the order in which they appear:

1. "The Best Is Yet to Come" (3:05) - (Cy Coleman/Carolyn Leigh) - One of Tony Bennett's all time greatest hits and Michael does it proud.

2. "It Had Better Be Tonight" (Meglio Stasera) (3:06) - (Mancini/Mercer/Migliacci) - Henry Mancini's catchy tune from "The Pink Panther", with a cool David Foster arrangement.

3. "Me and Mrs. Jones (4:33) - (Huff/Gamble/Gilbert) - Buble has a good thing going with this track

4. "I'm Your Man" (4:59) - (Leonard Cohen) - The beast won't go to sleep, has Buble bringing it home

5. "Comin' Home Baby" (3:27) - (Dorough/Tucker) - Buble shares the stage with Boyz II Men, with a Mel Torme classic tune

6. "Lost" (3:40) - (Buble/Arden/Chang) - An original song with a relationship that Buble puts behind him with this heartfelt lyrical masterpiece

7. "Call Me Irresponsible" (3:16) - (Cahn/Van Heusen) - Big hit for Jack Jones but move over, Buble is taking this one on and filling those big shoes nicely

8. "Wonderful Tonight" (4:12) - (Eric Clapton) - (duet with Ivan Lins) - And then she asks Buble and Lins, Do I look alright ... they reply we feel wonderful cause we see the love light in your eyes

9. "Everything" (3:33) - (Buble/Change/Amy Foster Gilles) - a Buble original sets this album apart from the rest, you're every song, and I sing along cause you're my everything

10. "I've Got the World on a String" (2:47) - (Arlen/Koehler) - Lifes a wonderful thing as long as I hold that string

11. "Always on My Mind" (4:30) - (James/Thompson/Christopher) - Girl I'm so sorry I was blind, you were always on my mind

12. "That's Life" (4:15) - (Gordon/Thompson) - Many times I thought of cutting out, but my heart won't buy it

13. "Dream" (5:05) - (Johnny Mercer) - Doesn't get any better with one of my all time favorite songwriters and his classic 1944 tune, with the best arranger on the planet Johnny Mandel

Special footnote, Bublé was born in Burnaby, British Columbia --- He is of Italian descent with dual citizenship in Italy, graduated from Cariboo Hill Secondary School --- Bublé grew up listening to his grandfather's collection of jazz records --- Bublé highlights the importance of his grandfather in encouraging his musical tastes. "My grandfather was really my best friend growing up --- He was the one who opened me up to a whole world of music that seemed to have been passed over by my generation --- Although I like rock and roll and modern music, the first time my granddad played me the Mills Brothers, something magical happened --- The lyrics were so romantic, so real... the way a song should be for me --- It was like seeing my future flash before me. I wanted to be a singer and I knew that this was the music that I wanted to sing." (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

My wife and I were fortunate enough to see Michael in a St. Louis concert, met him back stage --- might add this young man made a very positive impression on all who attended that night's show --- he's a first class guy and has everything going for him --- couldn't happen to a nicer person...it's like second nature with his natural ability to vocalize and be a crowd pleaser is pure magic --- shows why Buble has the the stuff stars are made of...he's the hottest property in the genre of "American Standards" today --- as Michael warns his band, "get ready it's about to start all over again" --- climb aboard this musical merry-go-round, you'll never regret it --- Good Luck, Michael with your sophomore studio recording --- it is definitely your biggest triumph.

Free Music Review: I'm Irresponsibly Mad For . . . This CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

I fell in love with this CD at first listen! I'm sure you will, too!

To make an impact on the ears of fine music aficionados, a singer has to have a great vocal style, an enormous talent and an innate passion. Michael Bublé, without a doubt, possesses all these qualities. It's so impossible not to love and truly be impressed with the beauty of this latest offering from Mr. Bublé, another one of his heartwarming and remarkable recordings.

I first heard Michael Bublé in 2003 over a radio station in L.A. singing "Moondance," and that song turned me on to his gorgeous music and I was totally beguiled by his smooth voice, his great singing style, and of course his tasteful choice of material on all his recordings. And the rest is history. To date, I have most of his notable CDs added to my collection. I especially love the CD he recorded exclusively for Hallmark for its Valentine's Day offering, with love, Michael Buble, and of course his self-titled CD Michael Bublé, It's Time, and the Dual Disc/DVD Come Fly With Me (CD & DVD).

In this CD, the singer from Canada has illuminated the timeless songs of Johnny Mercer, Sammy Cahn, Henry Mancini, Jimmy Van Heusen, Harold Arlen, Ted Koehler, Cy Coleman, Eric Clapton, among others. He made each song breathe a new lease on life and gave each one a wonderful twist starting off with a sparkling version of John Clayton-arranged-track, "The Best Is Yet To Come" down to dazzling "Dream." I've never heard this Johnny Mercer classic interpreted in a most beautiful way until now. The charming arrangement was done by one of the greatest Sinatra arrangers of all-time, Johnny Mandel. The first time I heard it, I got goose bumps and chills up my spine! It reminds me so much of a legendary icon of a singer when he was younger. Many thanks to Johnny Mandel's brilliance and creativity in arranging superb and enchanting charts, and Michael Bublé's flawless rendition as well as the excellent instrumentation of the finest studio musicians for making this song so special and hauntingly beautiful.

My favorites include Johnny Mercer's "Dream" and Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight," which is a duet with Ivan Lins, a Brazilian singer/composer and well-known for his remarkable compositions such as "Love Dance" and "Velas." Listen closely to its enthralling Bossa Nova arrangement by David Foster and Jorge Calandrelli (strings) and the mesmerizing guitar solo by Hector Pereira. The inclusion of its Portuguese lyrics adds an enchanting glow to this song. The Latin-infused version of Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer's "It Had Better Be Tonight" ("Meglio Stasera") is a joy to listen to. I'm also delighted with the title track, Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen's "Call Me Irresponsible," one of the best tracks and one of my absolute favorite songs of all-time. Ditto with his swinging version of "I've Got The World On A String." I love its additional background vocals . . . "Hey Michael, come on and swing, looks like you've got the world on a string."

Two original songs, "Lost" and "Everything" showcase the singer's talent as a songwriter. He co-wrote "Lost" with another promising Canadian singer Jann Arden, and pianist Alan Chang. I love "Everything" for its heartfelt lyrics and music with a nice contemporary flair - it's now one of my favorite new songs.

"You're my carousel
You're my wishing well
And you light me up when you ring my bell
You're a mystery
You're from outerspace
You're every minute of my every day"

My congratulations to Michael Bublé, David Foster, Humberto Gatica, Johnny Mandel, Jorge Calandrelli, Don Sebesky, Bob Rock, John Clayton and all the musicians involved with this wonderful recording. I'm looking forward to your next project.

Absolutely, totally and most definitely recommended for your listening enjoyment.

P.S. I'd like to sincerely thank a friend of mine who has a generous heart for sending me this CD (and a couple more) after reading my reviews and my Wish List and who really likes the same kind of music I so love. I appreciate your kind gesture and your praises on my reviews!

P.P.S. I can't wait to be at Michael's concert in L.A. this summer. I hope "Dream" will be on the repertoire.

Free Music Review: Michael sells his songs without even trying--he's THAT good !!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Call Me Irresponsible was bound to hit the charts when Michael Bublé released this fine album. Michael's work is outstanding and he easily can match any crooner of the entire twentieth century! The sound quality is excellent and I love that artwork, too!

The album starts with Michael singing "The Best Is Yet To Come;" this number sounds fresh with its big band style arrangement and Michael never sings a superfluous note! Michael's voice is in excellent form and the music complements his vocals perfectly. "It Had Better Be Tonight" has a Latin flavor that works wonders for this ballad; and the brass helps the melody along, too. Michael sings this love song with energy and enthusiasm and this truly amazes me! It's a very strong number that Michael easily aces.

"Me And Mrs. Jones" is a fine cover by Michael Bublé who sings this passionately with all his heart and soul. His voice is smoother than silk and you'll want to slow dance with your sweetheart to this tune. "Comin' Home Baby" is a fine duet between Michael and Boyz II Men; they harmonize and sing this number wonderfully! The piano arrangement really shines and this number is easily a major highlight of this CD.

"Call Me Irresponsible," the title track of this album, places Michael front and center--and he sings this marvelously. The musical arrangement makes good use of the brass and it all works very well. "Everything" is yet another fine tune that Michael Bublé sings to perfection, listen for "Everything;" it's a beautiful ballad.

"I've Got The World On A String," a Harold Arlen number, sounds fresh and new--Arlen would be proud! The backup vocalists do a great job and I really like "I've Got The World On A String." This number benefits from a fine, brassy musical arrangement. "That's Life," a number Frank Sinatra liked to sing, has Michael singing this very well; and it's just as enjoyable as when Frank sang it. The background vocalists are OK; but Michael didn't really need them for this number. I think "That's Life" would have sounded even better without the background chorus.

The album ends with Michael Bublé performing "Dream." "Dream" is a classic pop tune that Michael does with heart and soul every step of the way. "Dream" gets a solid treatment from Michael and it makes a good ending for this album.

Michael Bublé fans will, naturally, want this in their collections. Fans of classic pop vocals will also find a lot to like on this album.

From top to bottom, this is a great CD. Every track Michael does it perfect.
I have yet to see him in concert, but should I get the chance I will. Probably one of the greatest singers (now) of our time.
He has taken off where Frank Sinatra left off.

Free Music Review: Bublé Triumphs Again - Bring on the Grammys!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I am 25 years old and absolutely love this music! Michael Bublé is an amazing entertainer in the style of Sinatra, Darin, and Martin but brings a charisma all his own. This 'Call Me Irresponsible' CD has solidified him as a force to be reckoned with in the music world.

Forget the hip hop and rap stars, this guy is the real deal! The music he sings is timeless, and his own songs are from the heart. 'The Best is Yet To Come' has always been one of my favorites of Sinatra and Nancy Wilson. Bublé's version is even better! His smoothe vocals coupled with the big band sound are extraordinary.

'It Had Better Be Tonight' is amazing. This guy has a wide range of vocal ability and it is clearly displayed in the song at the end with the long phrases. One of my favs.

'Me and Mrs. Jones' and 'I'm Your Man' are incredibly sexy, and 'Comin Home Baby' is a neat duet with Boyz II Men.

'Lost' is a beautiful original song that Michael wrote, and the lyrics are extremely powerful. 'Everything' is a fun up-tempo love song that is just carefree and fun to listen to. I love his original pieces.

Oh, and who can forget the title of the album 'Call Me Irresponsible'? What a fantastic vocal display Bublé has recorded on this song. It is just amazing.

'I've Got the World on a String' is so much fun. It just makes you want to get up and dance, and you can hear Michael's personality come through in his voice.

'Always on My Mind' is perhaps the greatest version of this song recorded to date. It is reserved and heartfelt, and his voice is stunning.

'That's Life' is so much FUN!!!! The choir is excellent, and it sounds like Bublé is really enjoying himself. You will too!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CD to everyone!!!! Please enjoy and catch Michael on tour in your city this summer. He's even more remarkable in the flesh!!!!

Somebody give this man a GRAMMY!
