Free Music Notes for Call Me IrresponsibleFree Music Review: Lounge lizard...NOT!!! Hit: 5 Stars
OK folks...I'll try not to write a long review because of the positive comments posted so far. But personally, it is hard for me to compare this new CD with the previous ones as each stands on its own merit. Back to this one...
The kickoff tune is "The Best is Yet to Come." Too bad this is the only track featuring the killer-bee Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, but it sets the tone for the entire album. I have my favorites - namely "Comin' Home Baby" (with Boyz II Men providing tight harmonies), "Me and Mrs. Jones" (one of my favorites from the Philly soul era) which Mr. B. puts his own stamp on (that's Emily Blunt's voice you hear as the song fades out), the title song (with a knockout Bill Holman chart), and so on.
PLEASE do not call Michael Buble just another "lounge lizard" (I hate that label)! He surrounds himself with the very best to make an album like this sound so great...go check him out when he tours in your area!!!
Free Music Review: Yes, he really has got talent! Hit: 5 Stars
First off, Michael Bublé is one talented guy. His vocals are amazing, no matter what style he's going for. And he's great at chosing songs that will really showcase his talent. My favorites: "It Had Better Be Tonight (Meglio Stasera)", "Me and Mrs. Jones", "Lost" (self-penned... AMAZING!), "Call Me Irresponsible" (he's so good at the jazz-y stylistic stuff!), and "Always On My Mind", but it's not really saying much to single these few out because I love every one of the songs on the album (and all of his albums, actually). It's full of more of the good stuff that he had going on in It's Time. Just a guy singing songs that you can't resist loving, whether that means snapping your fingers to the beat of a fast number or smiling sentimentally while Michael croons away in the background. And he really is a pretty darn good singer, which is saying a lot in our life and time.
Free Music Review: The music on this CD is cool , smooth and groovy Hit: 5 Stars
I love this new CD from Michael Buble. My favorite track is "Everything". It is a very upbeat and romantic song. "The Best is Yet to Come" is such a fun optimistic song. All of the instruments compliment Michael's vocals well on this song. "Me and Mrs Jones" is another standout track. Michael's vocals on this song are very smooth and enjoyable. I love his rendition of this classic song. "Lost" is a sad song. It has a beautiful tone though, and I really like it. "Comin' Home Baby" is an uptempo track. Boyz II Men lend their vocal talents on this track. This track sounds so groovy. "Always On My Mind" is another excellent track. The piano playing by David Foster is very pretty here. "It Had Better Be Tonight" is an up tempo high energy track that makes me get up and dance. The music on this CD is very entertaining. I recommend this CD to anyone who loves music.
Free Music Review: Love it! Love it! Love it!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Without a doubt, "Call Me Irresponsible" is Michael Buble's greatest album so far. I cannot fathom how a person can take a song and inject so much emotion into every note of melody and every syllable of lyric. His take on "Me and Mrs. Jones" is masterful, and "I'm Your Man" exudes so much vulnerablility, it is almost unnerving. "Everything" is very light, but sweet and entertaining at the same time. The Sinatra classics are expertly recreated, and it is obvious that Buble has the utmost respect for a great legend. In my opinion, Michael Buble is destined to be a legend as well. Anyone who can make a Willie Nelson standard ("Always On My Mind") tolerable is nothing short of a musical genius! If you enjoy music that evokes emotion and can still give you a fun ride, you must get this CD!!! You will not be disappointed!
Free Music Review: Really, really - surprisingly - good. Hit: 5 Stars
I liked Buble's first CD, even though it was heavy on the Sinatra mimicry. Well, this one is too, a bit (several of the orchestrations are complete rip-offs of Nelson Riddle's), but Buble is finally coming into his own as a singer. I've always said he owes as much to Mel Torme as he does to Sinatra and he proves it here with his great cover of "I'm Comin' Home" (oddly backed by Boyz II Men). But his best performances are reserved for two out-of-left-field covers, most notably his big-band treatment of Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" and an exquisite bossa nova reinterpretation of Eric Clapton's heretofore-mediocre "You Look Wonderful Tonight." Buble and Brazilian treasure Ivan Lins turn it into a wonder of delicacy and beauty, and together their voices are otherworldly. Truly wonderful.
