Free Music Notes for It's TimeFree Music Review: Just Buy It! Hit: 5 Stars
Michael Bublé has enough written about his incredible ability to take older gems and make them his very own. Other reviews speak eloquently and truthfully on his behalf; the young man has everything it takes and more. He also has the *&^%!! to take some not so old songs and make them gems, simply by the beauty he infuses into them. Michael....please tell me that you chose the songs and not the A & R staff!!
The only song which gets totally messed up is Quando, Quando, Quando. I was in heaven listening to Michael sing the intro; it was truly great until the first two words came out of Nellie's mouth! Like an electrical jolt, the song was pulled out from under Michael's feet and it was no longer his! I don't think that duets will ever work well for someone with a voice like his. With that said, his rendition of "You Don't Know Me" holds up to any version I have heard and loved over the years. Seeing "(A)Song For You" on the track list made me nervous because my opinion is that Barbara Cook owns that beautiful Leon Russell song! Once again, a new rendition that can stand proudly, side by side, with Cook's heart wrenching version!
However, one song in particular on this CD which blows everything else into the background is Michael's very own, "Home"; (he does take credit for writing the complete lyrics in one of his interviews). It upstages everything on the CD. If you haven't seen the partial music video on his web page or the full live version on his AOL-sessions page, check it out. Thankfully the song was included on this disk but to see him sing it in two different video formats brings a whole new dimension to the pathos and the pain he expresses from his heart. I can't wait till he introduces more of his own compositions into his upcoming releases if a song so beautiful as "Home" was lurking in his heart! Michael has said in his DVD release that he has never lied in his entire life and "Home" takes the stand to bear witness to the fact!
Aside from the music, the CD insert has some extremely beautiful and sensual photos of a man who could make the hottest looking Armani models run for shelter! Oh grow up, already, you music purists! Do you think that if Michael still had his voice but looked like Andy Griffith that tens of thousands of screaming young fans would stand in line at his various venues, just hoping to touch him or get a kiss (something he frequently does)? Let's face it, he's a 10++ and if you've got it Michael, flaunt it!
Free Music Review: Doesn't get much better than this Hit: 5 Stars
How is it that I never heard of this guy until 2 months ago? I love Harry Connick Jr., and so do some girls in my office. One of them forwarded the URL for Michael Buble's website to me, so I visited, and listened to the two songs playing there. I was immediately hooked.
Next time I went to Best Buy, I bought this CD. He's smooth, no doubt about it, and he sure can surround himself with a kickin' group of instrumentalists. (Did you see him and his band perform on the Today Show on Aug. 19? Man, those guys were smokin' back there. Great horns!)
I didn't so much like "Quando," because Nelly's got a great voice but she doesn't have the styling down for this genre so much. She had the pop rifs creeping in here and there, and I don't like the pop scene, so it kind of turned me off.
But the rest of the tracks were all great. "Save the Last Dance" is just so much fun, and I never appreciated the song "How Sweet It Is" until I heard Michael's rendition of it.
"Home" is so soulful, so heartfelt, that you can practically see the guy sitting on a train, in a hotel room, staring out the window, thinking of home and the love that waits for him there. He tells such a powerful story that it visualizes itself for you in your mind as you listen. And isn't that what this art is about? Bringing the story and feelings to life for us? It's masterfully done here.
"You and I" is another powerful song. I don't like sappy stuff, I just cringe at it, yet I was sitting at the computer listening to it through my media library, and when that song came on I just stopped everything. And I started getting teary, I will confess it, though I hate to say it out loud. That's how intense that song was.
Michael is an artist in the true sense of the word. This album is so enjoyable, I'm going to get his first one when I go to Best Buy again. And I'm playing "It's Time" for everyone I can, so they'll buy it, too.
Free Music Review: Save The Last Dance For Michael Bublé Hit: 5 Stars
This is truly a charming CD! This is as equally nice as his first two recordings. It starts off with the very theme of this gem of an album, "Feeling Good." Every listener will feel good hearing all the songs delightfully rendered by Michael Bublé in this wonderful recording produced by David Foster, Tommy LiPuma and Humberto Gatica. The second track is a swingy take of George and Ira Gershwin's "A Foggy Day (In London Town)." Followed by a song popularized by Ray Charles "You Don't Know Me" and that so splendid duet version of "Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado, a beautiful Bossa Nova arrangement by David Foster and Jorge Calandrelli.
The other highlights are his heartfelt renditions of Stevie Wonder-penned-song "You And I," Cole Porter's classic "I've Got You Under My Skin," Campbell/Connely/Woods' "Try A Little Tenderness," a song that speaks of a 'tender loving care' treatment . . . "It's not just sentimental, she has her grief and her care, but a word so soft and gentle makes it easier to bear. . . and when she's weary, try a little tenderness."
Chris Botti, a trumpeter-extraordinaire contributed his talent in "Song For You," a Leon Russell composition. "Save The Last Dance For Me" is also one remarkable track with its nice arrangement.
My absolute all-time favorite in this collection of fabulous songs aside from "Quando, Quando, Quando" is his superb interpretation of Mack Gordon and Harry Warren's ever-charming song, "The More I See You." The jazzy arrangement was done by John Clayton, Jr.
"As years go by
I know the only one for me
can only be you
My arms won't free you
And my heart won't try."
I truly enjoyed listening to this wonderful CD. You will, too!
Free Music Review: TRULY STUNNING!!! Hit: 5 Stars
i am so happy i was lucky enough to discover this album! i am very new to the type of brilliant music this album presents - But getting bored with the regular rock and r&B that i hear these days, i was desperate to find something different. If your one who wouldnt go for music like this, i strongly suggest you just try it out and you'll be suprised at how much you enjoy it! i only got this album very recently, and since then have got four other michael buble cd's!! the songs simply oozes sophisticated, amazing melodies, and vary from fun, upbeat latino tracks to relaxing, moving songs that will make you melt. The gorgeous Buble doesnt fail to impress. It's Time definitely shows off his wonderful vocal talent and he knows just how to make each classic hit his own. His singing voice is clearly influenced by Sinatra, Fitzgerald and many other great music legends and oozes charm, sex appeal and charisma. Every song is just remarkable in its own right.
The highlight tracks, as hard as thay are to pick out, would probaly be You Don't Know Me, the way Buble sings this sweet number just melts me to the ground! Can't Buy Me Love, a brilliant, catchy, jazzy song i love it! The More I See You, again another fun and enjoyable track with a fabulous second half. How Sweet it is, i can't listen to this without tapping my feet or moving to the beat in some way! I seriously lose myself when i listen to Song For You and Under My Skin has all the appeal and attraction that Sinatras version has. All the tracks are truly breath-taking!! If for some stupid reason this album doesnt please or impress you, than you obviously dont have the abilty to recognise and appreciate true talent and real music!
Free Music Review: A singularly striking voice that you CAN'T pass over! Hit: 5 Stars
Michael Buble is, without equivocation, one of the finest male singers we've yet to see--period! He easily ranks up there with Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr., Nat King Cole, and many more of the greatest ever! (Note, for newcomers: his last name is Buble with the accent on the last syllable, it's not pronounced "Bubble" as I MYSELF once thought when I was a newcomer to this man's work. hehehe GRIN)
This album It's Time does not fail to disappoint! In my personal opinion, the title is a bit confusing, since HIS time to rise to stardom began a while back with his first CD (simply entitled "Michael Buble" from February 2003) and his performances.
The album opens strong with "Feeling Good," a great tune with a wonderful arrangement. Then comes "A Foggy Day (In London Town)," one of my personal favorites. Buble also does an awesome duet with Nelly Furtado on "Quando, Quando, Quando." There is also a very interesting jazzy arrangement for The Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love."
With all these wonderful songs and terrific interpretations, I really have to stop and think before I tell you all what my favorite song on this CD is. Michael Buble truly emotes so well with ALL his songs! I suppose if I had to pick just one song I would have to go with "Save The Last Dance For Me." It's so romantic; and Buble executes it flawlessly.
This man's talent is truly rare and his positive reviews are much deserved! It's energizing to enjoy Michael's hard work and talent when he shares with us his singularly striking voice and interpretations to the classics. Tony Bennett, watch out! GRIN
