Free Music Review: Perfection

At the time of writing, "It's Time" is still riding high (at #4) on the Billboard Jazz Album charts and this is after residing on said charts for 89 weeks. The album has sold over 2 million copies. Based on this feat alone I would encourage anyone to at least give this album a try. His debut was blinding enough but in my view, this one is even better. David Foster and Humberto Gatica have done another great production job on all but one of the songs. (Tommy Lipuma produced "The More I See You") Chris Botti joins in on "Song For You" and basically, what we have here is a jolly good set of familiar songs that are great fun to listen to.
A lot of people, especially those into pop and r&b, feel that standard singing is easy. You only have to see how reality "talent" show contestants fail dismally whenever big band time comes around, to know how wrong they are. I still feel Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett are three of the greatest singers that ever lived and they did (and do) their business without the bells and whistles that many singers feel they need these days. Buble can consider himself a modern day peer of these greats, no question. His voice is just that good.
The best suprise of this album for me though, was Nelly Furtado on "Quando, Quando, Quando". I had no idea the woman could sing as well as she does here and the way her voice complements, blends in with and harmonises with Buble's, is just sheer magic.
Great album. Even if you don't like jazz singing or easy listening, I think there's a great chance you will like this.
Free Music Review: Sizzlin' sentimental songs -

Oh my this cd is soooooooo hot. My eardrums are smokin' and so will yours. David Foster and Humberto Gatica prove once again that their partnership in sound production has no rival for attention in my ears.
Michael Bublé and Nelly Furtado sing a sentimental samba duet that sealed my affection at track four. "Quando, Quando, Quando" is so outstanding. It starts with a gentle guitar by Heitor Pereira and spectacular flute by Dan Higgins. The echo of Nelly Furtado's voice is lovely and her voice is so compatible with Michael's. Then they sing together and her harmony with his is just incredible.
I think the tempo changes and Big-Band arrangement of "Can't Buy Me Love" show off Michael Bublé at his vocally versatile finest. "The More I See You" is another smokin' swing treat.
I was thinking at about track 8 with the saucy, latin "Save The Last Dance for Me" that there is just no way I can handle anymore musical tenderness today. And then I hear the ballad "Try a Little Tenderness" at track 9 (the piano by Randy Waldman creates mood du jour). Jochem Van der Saag's keyboard and harmonica contributions on "How Sweet it Is" are remarkable at track 10. I'm sure at that point in the disc I can't stand anymore when Chris Botti's trumpet and Michael's voice on "Song for You" reduced me to pathetic pile of pudding. I was toast - both sides.
I think this cd is even better than Michael's debut and I have to say his first cd blew me away.
I will never tire of this audio heaven. Never.
Free Music Review: GREAT CD, GREAT ENTERTAINER, NICE MAN

SELDOM DO I GO TO A CONCERT OR MAKE A PURCHASE BASED ON FRIENDS RECOMMENDATIONS, BUT AFTER HEARING HOW TALENTED BUBLE IS I DID BOTH AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. THIS YOUNGSTER HAS ALL THE MAKINGS OF BECOMING A SUPERSTAR.
AT HIS RECENT CONCERT IN ORLANDO WE WERE ENTERTAINED IN THE FASHION ONE WOULD EXPECT OF THE RAT PACK IN THEIR DAY. FILLED WITH LAUGHTER AND THE MOST FANTASTIC MUSIC, MR.BUBLE PROVED TO US THAT HE HAS THE ALL THE INGREDIENTS IN SPADES. THE STAGING AND ORCHESTRA WERE PHENOMENAL AND THE TIME JUST FLEW BY. RIGHT UP TO THE LAST NOTE HE HAD THE AUDIENCE IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND AND JUDGING BY THE MIX OF THE FULL HOUSE, FROM TEENS TO GREAT GRANDPARENTS LIKE US, HE IMPRESSED US ALL. WHAT A SHOWMAN!
AND WHAT A MAGNIFICENT VOICE......
WE HAD THE GOOD FORTUNE TO SPEAK WITH HIM BRIEFLY AND FOUND HIM TO BE WARM, FUNNY AND POLITE. MY WIFE JOKINGLY SAID HE WAS WELCOME TO COME TO OUR HOME FOR DINNER AND HE GRINNED AND SAID "YOU'LL HAVE TO FEED MY BAND TOO, BECAUSE WE ALL LOVE GOOD HOME COOKING!" JUST A PLEASURE TO SEE A FINE YOUNG MAN WITH HIS HEAD ON STRAIGHT.
ON "I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN" WE THINK MR. BUBLE DOES A BETTER JOB THAN SINATRA AND THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING AS WE LOVE FRANK MORE THEN ANYTHING. MY WIFE CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF "SONG FOR YOU" AND "QUANDO QUANDO QUANDO".
MR. BUBLE IF YOU READ THIS, DINNER IS WAITING FOR YOU AND YOUR 'BOYS' WHENEVER YOU COME BACK TO ORLANDO! IT WAS A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU. PLEASE RECORD STARDUST AS THAT IS OUR ALLTIME FAVORITE SONG.

Free Music Review: Buble on a winning streak

There is a troubling trend in music, and entertainment in general, where a bright young artist follows a brilliant debut with a weak follow-up. This is known as the "sophomore slump" and Michael Buble most emphatically avoids that pitfall with his latest release, IT'S TIME.
Building upon his earlier success, Buble steps up to the plate with this swinging, confident album that not only meets expectations, but exceeds them. Check out traditional favorites such as the spicy "Save the Last Dance for Me," the exquisite "Try a Little Tenderness," the jumping "Foggy Day in London Town," or the playful "Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado...Buble brings an appreciation for the classics, but offers his own unique zing to bring out new flavors and colors.
Perhaps my favorite is, "You Don't Know Me," a wonderfully arranged and perfectly sung rendition of one of the great pop ballad standards ever written.
Buble proves here that he is no fluke, no one-hit wonder, but he has the moxie to be on the stage for a long, long time, and his name will not sound out of place alongside Sinatra, Bennett, Darin, Connick, Martin, and the other great crooners.
If you liked Buble's first album, you'll love this one. In fact, anyone who loves real music with real passion, real melody, and real instrumentation, will enjoy this CD. Michael Buble is part of a new wave of artists who are sparking a renaissance in appreciation for the classics, and he's doing it with excellence and flair. Great CD!
Free Music Review: An Album With A Soul, I'm At Home With Michael Buble...

I frequently overlook Michael Buble's albums for some time now, whenever I'm at HMV. However, one morning I sam him at GMTV and he sang the song "Home" and I was absolutely stunned by this young man's performance! It was live!
One thing that melted me whilst listening to this album, specially to this song is that Michael sings not only with passion, but with truth and honesty as well. Opera singers do usually have this gift, and some pop singers (Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin.)
His technique is impeccable, his breathing is soulful, yes, it's not a soul album but an album with a soul. The song Home and You and I are specially beautiful. Streisand sang this in her 1972 Lazy Afternoon Album, way way before Mr Buble was born!!!
I do hope ther'll be a Streisand and Buble duet! His voice is more suitable to love songs and ballads, rather that Sinatraesque songs.
Some compare him with Josh Groban, but whilst Josh Groban is a superb singer, somehow, his singing is empty and cold, his technique is too perfect and soul less, Michael Buble's the opposite. It's like caressing your favourite pillow or having an exquisite bath. It's makes one very comfortable, at home and happy.
I'm so happy he's coming to Scotland in a forthnight. There's just one ticket left at the SECC in Glasgow and thank goodness I was able to get it. (No more tickets at the Edinburgh Playhouse!!!)
