Free Music Review: Nice work by a nice guy. Hit: 5 Stars
Being something of a lover of jazz and light pop - a habit I picked up because of my love for figure skating, I found Michael Buble almost by accident a few short years ago. He was performing at BB Kings where by sheer good fortune I was taken for a fun evening with friends. His show was great and he was a dynamo. The thing that tipped the scales as far as I was concerned was his sincere love of the classics and a sense of timing unparralled. After his set he ventured into the audience and took the time to talk to many of us and he expressed such genuine appreciation that I was struck by his often humorous, but always humble comments and honesty. No prima donna attitude here.
On It's Time I can hear the growth he has made as a singer and the confidence shows. The control he now has over his vocals and range is something to behold and quite likely the reason that each and every song he sings, he owns!
Tender at times while vibrant and strong at others - but always, always in full and total control - he's become a master of song.
Evidently this is also a David Foster production and showcases Foster's ability to get the best out of every instrument and arrangement.
Yes, this is nice work by a nice guy.......It's Time.
Free Music Review: My review based on the cd, plus seeing him in person. Hit: 5 Stars
New Orleans is where I met the man on the cd and what a charmer he is. After the show he signed autographs at his bus and he looked a little tired, but then after the performance he put on it's no small wonder. He not only sings so well, dances, and the show was hilarious as he clowns around, tells good jokes and involves the audience. Yes, he does it all and does it all well. My husband says he's much like a cross between Dean Martin & Bobby Darin on stage - that's high praise from my hubby.
Sitting on one side of me was a lady with her husband and their teenage grandchildren and on the other side a group of 20 something very attractive young ladies. Such diversity and so nice to see people of all ages and stripes finding this guy's music as their common denominator. My husband and I have his earlier album and find that this one is just that much better, perhaps because of the song he and his pianist A. Chang wrote together called Home. Home will etch itself into your memory if you hear it just once and you will take it with you wherever you go, I know that's what we found. Take care of yourself Mr. Buble, we want and need you to keep entertaining us with your style, grace, charm and talent for a long, long time!
Free Music Review: "Time" to buy this cd!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Wow! This guy is just way too smooth! I really enjoyed Michael Buble's last two cds and he has most definitely topped that success with this new set of incredible songs. I think this is his best work yet!
Buble starts out the cd with a nice song, "Feeling Good", which...well, makes you feel good! He follows up with one great song after another. Standouts to me are "Quando, Quando, Quando" with songbird, Nelly Furtado; "Home", an original song written by Buble, which is also the cd's first single; great uptempo versions of "Can't Buy Me Love" and "How Sweet It Is" and lovely ballads like "Song for You" and "Try a Little Tenderness". This is a great cd to pop in the player and listen to from beginning to end. Nowadays its hard to say that about a lot of cds, but it is true of this one. All the songs are perfectly picked for this album.
Buble is, of course, compared to Sinatra and Harry Connick Jr but he's really finding his own place in the crooner/vocalist genre. If he continues with cds like "It's Time", he's gonna be around for a long while and I don't think anybody will be complaining! I HIGHLY recommend this cd. Its a refreshing change from the hip hop and teen pop soaked air waves!
Free Music Review: A Breakthrough Album for a Real Crooner Hit: 5 Stars
If you have yet to hear about Pop vocalist sensation Michael Buble, then it's high time you get caught up on your entertainment news. Since his 2001 self titled debut album `Michael Buble', and his sophomore follow up `It's Time', the twenty-something native of Vancouver has taken the world by storm. As if his polished pipes weren't enough, the Canadian crooner also possesses the looks, charm and attitude as if he is a missing member of the fabled Rat Pack.
`It's Time' continues the winning formula of Buble's previous release, by taking classic well known songs, and putting a fresh and unique spin on them. The opening track is a slow, steamy take on the timeless Nina Simone tune 'Feeling Good' followed by an up tempo version of the Gershwin penned `Foggy Day in London Town', what follows is a terrific mix of songs from several different eras and artists including The Beatles and Ray Charles. We are even treated to a Buble original composition, a ballad called `Home', in which we hear of the complexities and struggles of life on the road.
This is a great album, and if you are a fan of the standards, pop genre then you should really check this one out, I don't think you will be disappointed.
