Free Music Notes for Alias [Original Television Soundtrack]

Free Music Review: Best TV Soundtrack
Hit: 5 Stars

This is well worth your money for any Alias fan, and it's better than most movie scores.

Free Music Review: Rockin'!!
Hit: 4 Stars

I've always been a fan of movie and television scores. I always wanted Buffy to come out with a score CD, but alas, it never happened.

Apparently J.J. can read my mind or something, because he knows this is exactly what I wanted. The music is wonderful, definitely motion-picture caliber.

My favorite track so far is "Spanish Heist" because the spanish guitar mixes so well with the other beats and just creates this awesome sound (and it also reminds me of Anna Espinosa). The entire CD is great because the tracks alternate between high-speed techno songs and slower, string-driven melodies. That's pretty much the way Alias works. Sydney goes on some mission at 90 mph and then is back home dealing with some more down-to-earth drama.

The only thing I didn't like about this CD is that it's only from season one and it doesn't label the episodes each song is from. The avid Alias fan will know most of the melodies instantly, but there are still a few tracks that confuse me. Hopefully season two is on its way!

Free Music Review: Alias SCORE
Hit: 4 Stars

I agree with another reviewer that this isn't really a Soundtrack but a Score. This is all original music written and used in Alias. I echo the sentiment that there needs to be a true Soundtrack that collects the songs that are in Alias. There are collections done all the time, why can't it be done in this case.

This Score is great. The original compositions fit the tone of the show to a T. Enhancing and even bringing out moods that the viewer experiences. Listening to it brings back the memories of the episodes that the pieces were used in.

I bought the soundtrack because I'm a big fan of the series and thought it'd be a nice accompaniment. I was very disappointed as I listened to this CD because it was quite plain that most of these selections must've been very muted background music. I could remember almost none of it and suspect that several selections are longer than they were on the show. #1 "Main Title" is the one we hear every week and is perhaps the most successful tune to my ears. #14 "Badenweiler" has similarities to "Main Title" as does #22 "Wetsuits". #25 "Bristow and Bristow" has a little of the title style but a lot of other stuff too and #26 "SD-6 Dance Party" just sounded like a pointless reworking of #25. #21 "It was Anna" was very short but good, nothing like the others I've mentioned.
