Free Music Notes for Invincible

Free Music Review: Only album great enough to buy outside the underground
Hit: 5 Stars

(. . .) If you are a fan of music that in total definition is MUSIC, songs written with passionate dedication to theme and message, then chances are you will adore this album. If you can let go and let your ears savor sound, without concerning yourself with the connotations attached to the artist...then you are one of the lucky few like me, who recieve a ticket to experience something more beautiful than any contemporary pop artist, or artist for that matter, can give. I feel blessed that I am able to see through and directly connect to Michael Jackson's music, be it reactionary, or expressive. Enough hoopla, upon first listen I had some issues of course, with being able to let go and appreciate the subject matters on the album. But about the fourth songs, tears began to flow, and I was completely reassured that Michael is alive and well and remains in the pulse of where honesty and art meet in a wedding of commercialism, dated reactionary statements, and SEARING honesty on ballads that make my heart ACHE (. . .)1.Unbreakable - yeah right unbreakable...cheese to the Nth...but with a free ear...and ANY sort of pop sensibility in you...find that knee jerking to the pings and BAAM it happens to be some seriously catchy schmack. Congrats, welcome to liberation.

2.Heartbreaker - Can you say JERKINS? This track is the most obvious production wise on the album, but good lord if anyone can talk smack about this mans beats and MJ's ability to weave in and out of them...then uhh...uhhh...then you are just unENLIGHTENED.

3.Invincible - an extremely loose, hip track with unique vocal relation to beats. belated and pop filled. This is an MJ song all the way. Shots back to the classic MJ sound, reminds me somewhat of "another part of me" melodically, except well produced and with different subject matter...of course. Ok i did that track no justice. next?

4.Break of Dawn - AWWWWwww schick (. . .)Thanks MJ for this gift of romance sound. Oooo. Smooth.

5.Heaven Can Wait - Ok I just have to say thank you so, so much. So far after repeated listenings to the album, this track...it devastates me. It's the track that made me burst into tears. This song is honesty. Love. Pure Love. Oh my god. Tears come. You would be hard pressed to find a song as simply honest about how TRUE LOVE feels. =-| *sniffle*

6.You Rock My World - This is the first single so you all heard it, but yo, it's a good track. A little repetative, and in NO WAY represents the best tracks on this album. It is a nice light and steady sway across the dancefloor. A true crooner-esque chase her, explain...give in the eye and ear...the object of our desires. Let's express a charm that enchants...and you gotta sing this track and shimmy. You gotta shimmy.

7.Butterflies - from what I understand it's the next single...and with PERFECT reasoning. This shoots back timeless Michael Jackson style. This is the light love jam that is GUARANTEED to be one of the more favorite cuts ont he album...because honesty like this is sparse in modern pop or r&b. Those muted horns are the absolute sweetest thing I have heard in years. this one should get alot of airplay, and if it doesen't...then I wonder if America has forgotten what it's like to be in LOVE.

8.Speachless - this is another moving love track that transcends the others in honesty and cuts RIGHT to the bone with emotion. It sounds heavenly. Heavenly, like it should have been the last track on GHOST or something. Good lord. Bare and ethereal. I could make a movie to this. It would have to have so much dodge that it blinds out everything, music. Another one that makes me cry.

9.2000 Watts - A driving and full on pop track in overdrive. A bit more variation in the chorus notation would be welcomed. This sounds like a club track, I would drop this schmack in a goth/industrial club to show them what's up. Haha. Aww yeah. 2000 watts...8 ohms...dope stuff. I wonder if they pitched MJ's voice down, or if he was coached to sing in that lower key. I really really wonder that. 3D! 3D!!!!!

10.You Are My Life - ANOTHER LOVE BALLAD! Oh and it is so welcome (. . .)This is sweet song making flooded with honesty, another great example of MJ's croonin. If you can't let go and love this track, then you SERIOUSLY need to stop watching TV and tune in and start being honest with yourself alright?

11.Privacy - MJ wants the press to leave him alone? Is that really true? Is this even an ISSUE anymore? Does anyone really care anymore? BESIDES all that and the cheesy rock vibe...how he PRONOUNCES the PAPARAZZI...is SLEEK as anything and has a seriously brooding tone to it. This track reminds me of his other rock songs, it's grind is earthy and past the embarassing sound at first...get it lived in and you could growl too. Sleek.

12.Don't Walk Away - this track always got lost to me the first few times I listened to this record...but more and more these love ballads just click. This sounds like vintage MJ. Another honest cut that transcends superficiality in favor of an expression of adoration so true it can only exist in melody. chalk up another one for love.

13.Cry - The MJ inspirational breed. You can change the world. As cynical as I am, he nearly convinces me here. I love being honest with myself. Let's all cut the crap and get real. This is an MJ song that spits truth and suggestion and healing in the face of an EMPTY american culture that has nothing better to do right now than buy american flags to fly on their cars and pretend to understand what's right and just (. . .)P>14.The Lost Children - guess what this song is about? Hey good job MJ, there has never been a song that I know of about missing children. I don't come into contact with that kinda thing that much so it is hard for me to take this one to heart...but bottom line is that this song has a great message and is a WELCOME addition to the world in my opinion (. . .)P>15.Whatever Happens - this is one of the best cuts ont he album. A truly haunting number about HARDSHIP. It's about a couple facing some sort of unstated trouble...and to "whatever happens, don't let go of my hand". Chilling. Another song that makes me cry. I swear this one scares me. Bad things happen. We need love to help us through. Haunting. I would have prefered this as the last track because it leaves you with a really ominous greyness, and despiration for companionship. Beautiful guitars by Carlos Santana as well.

16.Threatened - A closing pop number that stands just a centimeter shorter than the other POP tracks on the album. An updated thriller for the new century. I am down with it. I can't wait to see some sort of video for this. I bet that would be some fun stuff! Twilight Zone samples and all. MJ is alive and well.

In summation, this is a wonderful collection of songs that are made for people who can let go and appreciate music on a direct level (. . .) I love it, fully. Well, WELL worth the purchase. And if you don't like this...then you are denying yourself some serious goodness. (. . .)
