Michael Jackson was our generation's Elvis Presley. He could move and sing like nobody else before him. He was an icon, a legend, a mystery, almost godlike on stage where fans would pass out from the excitement. His professional life and genius cannot be forgotten. This album will probably always be the best-selling album, record, cassette, compact disc for the rest of my life as far as I know.
This was the Michael Jackson that the world rediscovered and fell in love with all over again. He was no longer a member of the Jacksons singing group or the Jackson Five. He always outshined his older brother, Jermaine, Tito, Randy, and Jackie with his soft-spoken voice and singing talents.
This was his second album that was produced by Quincy Jones. His first album was a considerable achievement but Thriller has mesmerized and changed musical history forever. It wasn't just the songs, but his moves, and his videos like Billie Jean, Beat It, and Thriller which had parental warning before the screening and was considered controversial in 1983.
Thriller made unbelievable records in sales and with the hits rolling out.
Michael Jackson passed away yesterday at the age of 50 years old.
His personal life overshadowed his professional achievements. We all knew he was a troubled individual from the tabloids and news stories. But somehow yesterday, I finally had to forgive him because it made no sense in judging him anymore. I felt guilty for owning his record that I gave it away a few years ago.
I hope he has finally found peace and thanks for giving us great hits and songs that made us all dance and try to imitate you. There will always be imitators but only one Michael Jackson.
He never repeated the same success after Thriller but then again, nobody else has come close to that achievement and that is a remarkable one.
I'm going to remember you not for your personal problems but for the dancing, moves, and the songs. Onstage, you were loved by your audiences who longed to see you come back. Offstage, you were a lonely manchild. I hope you know how loved you really were in life.
Free Music Review: BEYOND AMAZING in SO MANY WAYS - 10 Thousand Stars

This combo CD AND DVD set is beyond cool. Michael's raw genius and diverse style are captivating beyond words. Every song on the CD is a favorite. Actually recently learned the lyrics to "HUMAN NATURE" amazing lyrical and musical talent is an understatement. This CD is great for the car where I BLAST the CD, and people smile. But much more than smiling, the songs go to my soul.
The DVD has special effects that are phenomenal when Michael transforms into a creature that captivated my imagination.
I want to share one of the most poignant parts of this 25th Anniversary set, and this is an actual letter from Michael on the inside front cover of the lyrics booklet.
Quoting what Michael wrote verbatim:

I would like to thank you for helping me make THRILLER the biggest selling album of all time.
As we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Thriller, I know that I would not have been able to reach any of the historic accomplishments associated with this album, without the love and continued support of you...my fan.
I hope you will enjoy the new and previously unreleased bonus tracks included in the 25th Anniversary Edition, as well as the new remixes by my friends, Akon, will.i.am, Fergie, and Kayne West.

Mr. Michael Jackson certainly came through for us all big time. It's poignant and bittersweet to read what he wrote so close in time to his passing. From the beginning and all the way through his career, he poured his heart and soul into the music he created for us.
I HIGHLY suggest this edition - it is a treasure, as Michael still is!

Free Music Review: Five Stars For The Original Material

While the foundation of Michael's superstar solo career was laid with "Off The Wall", "Thriller" was the true launching point of it!
After making a strong debut with the "OTW" album, Michael (along with producer Quincy Jones) set out to make another hit with the album "Thriller." Little did either man know that it would be the mega-hit that would launch one of the most spectacular (and admittedly controversal) careers ever in the history of popular music.
On the album itself, the first song I ever heard was actually "Beat It" and then "Billie Jean" and then "Thriller"! The song that made me a fan though was "Human Nature." An underrated slow jam that has been sampled many times over the years, particularly by the female singing trio SWV for their song "Right Here" during the New Jack Swing era of the late 80's and early 90's.
To be honest, of the original tracks, only "Lady In My Life" was the weakest and even that one wasn't a dud. Its certainly better than a lot of music we hear today!
As I said, it gets five stars for the original material. I've never heard the alternate versions/bonus stuff so I can't rate them. I would recommend this and "Off The Wall" personally. While he has good music throughout the years, those two albums (to me) are his strongest.
Free Music Review: THE ALBUM THAT MADE MICHAEL THE KING OF POP

What can you say about this mega-classic? The album that not only made Michael the King Of Pop but also made him the first MTV Superstar. It also let artists & record labels know that you can promote your song or album on the music network. Yes the videos from this album("Billie Jean", "Beat It" & of course the greatest video of all time "Thriller") were amazing but Michael & producer Quincy Jones know you need a good song first before making that hot music video people will talk about the next day with your classmates or co-workers. And that's what Michael & Q did back in 1982. Classic tracks(that didn't had music videos) like "Wanna Be Starting Something", "Human Nature", "P.Y.T.(Pretty Young Thing), "The Lady In My Life" & "The Girl Is Mine" are still memorable tracks because they're good songs. That's what new artists & record executives are missing today. They need to listen to this album from the first track to the last. You need amazing songs to make a great album. Do you hear that Bieber & Ke$ha? If you want to be the next superstar, let the King Of Pop show you. This is one of the albums you need to study(the songs, the singing, the production, good musicians, the heart and dedication). I remember when this album came out I was just 2 or 3 but I still knew who Michael Jackson was because everyone knew who he was. He was a great talent in music and "Thriller" is the perfect title for his defining masterpiece because that's what it is. Every single song is magical and moving because Michael who was also a consummate professional gave such a stand alone performance that to this day has never been topped. My very favorite song is "Billie Jean". It's a creative track that mixes dance, pop, hip hop and R&B. I also especially enjoy the title track and "Beat It" because these are both pure '80s staples. Like millions and millions of people I am heartbroken today. I have been watching his videos on BET since last night and the one thing that resonates through all of his music, ever changing styles and dance moves was Michael's professionalism and perfection. Such an immense and unique talent has left this world. I am not sure of many things in this world and I don't know where Michael Jackson is right now or where he is going. But I am certain that wherever he is there is lots of happiness and beautiful music. Thank you Micahel for all of the years of entertainment and may you rest in peace.
