Free Music Review: KING OF POP REIGNS !!!
Hit: 5 Stars

THRILLER 25TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION IS SIMPLY AWESOME!!!!!

I just can't stop playing THRILLER 25..Did you all see the 2006 World Music Awards, where the GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS awarded Michael Jackson an award for selling at that time over 104 million copies of THRILLER worldwide? Now, that is a record that is simply amazing. Congratulations, MJ. We your fans miss you terribly, MJ. Please come back to the stage real soon. I haven't been to a live show since your live show and am anxiously awaiting your return, MJ. The imitators and perpetrators are simply BORING me to tears. GREATEST ENTERTAINER EVER!!!!!

Free Music Review: Michael Jackson's Thriller
Hit: 3 Stars

If you're a Michael Jackson fan there is a chance you already own the original Thriller album. If you are an ocasional fan (like me) this is a good opportunity to own a history making album in a nifty shiny cover. The extra material is a few bits of dialogue by Vincent Price (not very impresive) and a original unreleased song from that time (which is nice). The "new version" songs are not that good. Only one of them feels like a new take on the original song, the rest are basically remixes with no soul or feel to them whatsoever.
From a collector point of view sure, buy it. From a fan that wishes to own the original Thriller sure, buy it. For somebody wanting to hear new takes on old MJ songs, not a good investment.

Free Music Review: THE BEST!
Hit: 5 Stars

I WAS 13 Y.O WHEN THE ORIGINAL THRILLER WAS REALESED. I GREW UP WITH MJ AND 25 YEARS LATER IT'S STILL THE BEST RECORD OF ALL TIMES!!!!!!!!
NOW EVEN BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

Free Music Review: Thriller Is Still A Thriller!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a must-have for music/entertainment fans around the world. I love it. If you weren't a MJJ fan before, you will be now. Make sure you check customer image #5--there's a list included of what's inside on a loose piece of paper. I would have liked it to have been included with the other pages. It's easily lost or damaged otherwise. That being said, this is a wonderful gift from Michael and the gang. Enjoy!!

Free Music Review: Still a Great Pop Album Buoyed by the Original Videos But Weighed Down by Mostly Unnecessary Remixes
Hit: 4 Stars

Suffice it to say that the original 1982 release of Thriller was probably the most serendipitous moment in modern pop music history - the ideal melding of a young and uniquely talented entertainer seamlessly crossing established genres and a powerful veteran producer used to breaking the rules. A quarter century later, the result of their collaboration still kicks into high gear with unbeatable hooks and sharp production values. Sure, there is a discernible sheen of eighties gloss to the music, but each song is still a pop gem. Only two of the nine original tracks, "Baby Be Mine" and "The Lady in My Life", were not released as singles, and they are consequently the least recognizable to my ears. The rest have passed on to our collective consciousness with a few sounding even better with age - for example, "Human Nature" sounds even more sophisticated today thanks to the fluttery Toto-esque arrangement , while the insistent beat and bass line of "Billie Jean" remain timeless.

The audio tracks beyond the original album are bound to disappoint, and for the most part, they do. Vincent Price's 24-second voiceover introduction to "Thriller" is inexplicably added here, even though it would have made more sense to insert it before the "Thriller" track if at all. The last song on the disc is an unreleased track from the original sessions, "For All Time". Sounding like an overproduced variation on "Human Nature", the song likely contains some later overdubbing since Jackson's vocals sound discernibly older than the rest of the album. The five remixes are a variable lot. The least inspired track is "Beat It 2008", a knock-off the original where Fergie duets with the young Jackson voice with barely any distinction. The Kanye West remix of "Billie Jean 2008" also disappoints, as West slows the song down to a frustrating marching-band tempo in order to add a heavier bass line and louder strings. Better is will.i.am's approach to "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) 2008", which brings a real snap to the lithe original. Reworking arguably the weakest song on the original recording, he remixes "This Girl Is Mine 2008" by substituting Paul McCartney's vocal for droning rhymes and a rap interlude.

The best of the bunch is easily "Wanna Be Startin' Something 2008", which Senegalese-American hip hop/ R&B singer Akon slows at the outset and brings more seamlessly to percolating life with honest-sounding world beats. The accompanying DVD contains the predictable elements - the groundbreaking MTV-saturated videos for "Billie Jean", "Beat It", and his fourteen-minute, special-effects-laden opus, "Thriller" directed by John Landis, as well as his career-defining performance of "Billie Jean" on the "Motown 25" special (1983). All are worthwhile to have presented on one disc, and the youthful Jackson peaking in his early twenties showcases a vibrancy of talent that remains timeless. At the same time, the images, reinforced by the photos in the lyrics booklet, leave me with a sense of melancholy over what has become of Jackson in the intervening years. If it's possible to cast aside the media glare from his personal idiosyncrasies, it can be agreed that he produced at least one album for the ages. The extras presented with the 25th Anniversary Edition seem all the more superfluous by comparison.
