Free Music Notes for Michael Jackson: The Ultimate Collection (4 CD's + 1 DVD)Free Music Review: Cool CD Set! Hit: 5 Stars
I got this for 29 bucks at Best Buy. It was awesome because I have been listening to Michael Jackson my whole life. The man is a genius. Sadly he is insane, and he is losing it with all the surgeries and whatnot. The music is still great! This Place Hotel makes me just jam, as does the demo of PYT (No offense to uber talent James Ingram) but the demo is in my opinion more beautiful, sexy and sweet. I love to hear this one, it does bump even if its over 20. The songs on disc 4 are something strange to me. No one seems to notice that Fall Again (written by Robin "When I Get You Alone" Thicke) was scrapped by Jackson as he found it too poppy, and substituted by Speechless (one of the only duds on Invincible) was actually picked up by Glenn Lewis and performed on the film and soundtrack Maid in Manhattan. In the back was written for "Get on the Bus" but wasn't included because Spike Lee believed it wasn't Black enough. The track Beautiful Girl verges on Elevator pop, while The Way You Love Me, while mis-named and sung (I love the way "how" you love me??) is one of my favorites. Also watch out for the keyboard overload that is "We Are Here to Change the World" Also for those who wonder where's all the Paul McCartney stuff?? Michael and Paul haven't been friends since 1989, they fought over the Beatles catalog and of course using the songs so numerously would create a reason for MJ to give PM royalties. Stop wondering. Paul and Mike are no more. I do however wish that the underrated neo soul classic One More Chance from Number Ones was included, it truly is one of his better latter day singles. Also missing for whatever the hell reason is once again Scream with his sister Janet. I know she too is a controversy queen and also it would have him giving her royalties, seeing as shes on Virgin Records. It does deny us little people who pay for stuff, but I can just pull out my HISTory CD. The concert DVD point blank sucks. The singer on "I just can't stop loving you" is not the talented Siedah Garrett, rather a backup singer who is cheaper to keep around than Siedah, tramping it up on stage in thigh high boots. She is good though. The dated everything in the show doesn't help and seeing all those foreign people screaming and getting carried away made me just stop the DVD. The Garden performance was 100% amazing, even with the likes of Crackhead Whitney Houston and sexpot/mama Britney Spears. That would have ultimate'd this collection through the roof. I love jackson so this ehh collection gets 5 stars. Love the songs and rarities, but I would be willing to shell out more for a box set with all the songs u want, all the songs you've never heard and some interviews like the interesting and open minded quincy jones interviews from the special edition album reissues. That would have made for a bigger collection but well worth it. You'll see, its good but not great!! Thanks for reading this!!
Free Music Review: The Most Respected Man In Music History! Hit: 5 Stars
Take a look at the man who captivated us. The one who spend over four decades working to entertain us. The one who gave up his childhood to record legendary music, the one who grew up, and recorded the best selling albums in history: Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, History, BODTF, Invincible and Number Ones. What's sad is that "haters" use their life to write reviews on a purchase they never made, and spend their day bashing the biggest selling artist. They mark the 5 star reviews as "not helpful". I pity those people, or should I say, the ONE person who is in disguise as many people. This album is the only career spanning album that covers his hits and most pleasing songs. This cannot be labeled as a repackaged "redundant" album. After all, these songs helped him gain status as the "King of Pop.". Since the R&B filled #1 single from 69' "I Want you Back" to the other 3 #1 singles produced by the Jackson 5, there is nothing that can be labeled "disappointing". The disco-filled "Dancing Machine" from the united Jackson's, to probably the best Jackson's song "Lovely One", this is sure to please any listener. "This Place Hotel" ranks as one of the best songs recorded in music history. The haunting lyrics read: "We went up to the stairs in the ceiling room, there were two girls sitting in the room, she walked up to my face, and said this is the place, called Hearbreak Hotel". If compared to Elvis's "Heartbreak Hotel", Elvis may just have to stay put!The Grammy Winning Album" Off The Wall" produced #1's including "Rock With You" and "Don't Stop Til' You Get Enough". The 1982 unreleased song "Sunset Driver" would have had a good place on the Thriller album. The fast upbeat song gives a
"city street" feel. Maybe the most haunting ballad is "Scared of The Moon", which displays his talented and yet virtually unmatched vocals. It may be the original "Little Susie" from 95's History album. Bad also produced 6 #1's including Smooth Criminal and the rock anthem "Dirty Diana". Dangerous, maybe the best album in history in my opinion. Producing hits like "Black or White" and "Remember The Time", this can be the highlight of the boxset. "Who Is It" is remixed. "Someone Put Your Hand Out" is the highlight of the 3rd disc. Monkey Business, recorded in 89' also is something to dwell on. Ballads on the 4th disc including the autobiographical song "Childhood". "Fall Again" and Beautiful Girl could have been released and would make great singles! The jazz flavored "The Way You Love Me" is so catchy. Finally, it ends with the anti-war song, "We've Had Enough", which also has some of the most inspiring lyrics. All in all, this is the ultimate collection, worth paying every penny for!
Free Music Review: Really the Ultimate! Hit: 5 Stars
If you've ever considered picking up an MJ release for your collection, this boxset is the one to buy! If you're already an MJ fan, then you have no excuse to walk away from this!
First -- you get all the biggest hits. ABC, I Want You Back, Ben, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Smooth Criminal, Black or White, Remember The Time, You Are Not Alone, Blood On The Dancefloor, You Rock My World... All the classics are on here.
Second -- you get most of the fan favorites! Some songs that are excellent, but that weren't hugely successful as singles... Songs like Wanna Be Startin' Something, Dirty Diana, Jam, Who Is It, Unbreakable, Butterflies... It's missing a few great songs, however, like Scream, Leave Me Alone, and Workin' Day And Night, to name a couple.
Third -- you get all new songs and demos. We've Had Enough, MJ's newest song, is excellent! Powerful and complex; the genius we've come to expect from MJ! In The Back, a groovy song with a sort of intricate simplicity. Fall Again, a beautiful ballad showing off Mike's vocal range. Sunset Driver, the funkiest track I've ever heard, all the way from the early 1980s! Beautiful Girl, On The Line, Someone Put Your Hand Out, all good ballads. We Are Here To Change The World, the theme song from the Disney 3D movie, Captain EO! It's upbeat and great to listen to! Cheater, Monkey Business, and even more! It's all amazing to hear!
Fourth -- The live concert DVD! One of the most energetic and mind-blowing concerts ever performed! My personal favorite out of all his tours! From the big bang of an opening with Jam, to the amazing Smooth Criminal, to the electric Workin' Day and Night, to the final, heart-stopping performance of Man In The Mirror, this is one concert not to be missed! You see some of Mike's best dancing and singing ever!
Fifth -- A beautifully designed booklet, featuring high quality pictures (some never-before-seen), a great text, and a complete chronicle of Mike's history up to this point!
So if you're thinking about picking this one up, I suggest to just go for it. Sure, it costs a bit more than a regular album, but you're not getting just one album... You're getting four, plus a DVD! And there's no better collection of Mike's material available than this boxset right here. Pick it up -- you won't be disappointed!
Free Music Review: Something like a Phenomenon Hit: 5 Stars
Recently Michael Jackson's child molestation trial has caused a media frenzy keeping him in the public's eye which is why I've chosen to review his music. if you have not expierenced Michael jackson you need "The Ultimate Collection!" Michael jackson is a living musical legend who has sold more records than any other artist in history.
What sets this compilation apart are the hard to find cuts such as "someone in the Dark" ans "scared of the Moon' from the E.T storybook. the Ultimate collection consists of both CDs and live video performances by the artist;although all of his greatest hits and number ones aren't in this collection the value still stands unmatched. We all ahve our favorites from Michael's many hits but I am confident that there are a generous amount of your favorite tracks in this collection.
this collection covers music's different eras:from michael's childhood stardom,to his bubble gum days all the way up to the compassionate rebel without a cause movement. You can hear it in his voice and see it in his performance his transitioning from a boy to a man and Michael never looses his edge. the world was changing during those times and Michael's music didn't miss a beat. He never lost his rythmic, soulful, and rock hard messages of hope and restoration. The Ultimate Collection has seventy-three tracks such as "We are the World","Thriller",and even earliers tracks like "ABC".it's not often an artist of such high esteem compiles his hits into a box set, considering how many many hits there has been to choose from, this is truly a phenomnon.
this anthology will definetly levae a lasting impression on you. the songs not only showcase Michael's unique talent but it also allows you to see how he has perfected his craft over time growing as both an artist and an entertainer. I give The Ultimate collection five stars. some might view this collection as incomplete and unworthy of five stars but i say the mark of a true performer is to always keep them wanting more. So go out and buy this piece of history and expierence Michael as the singer, songwriter, and entertainer we have all grown to love. i sa"why buy an album when you can have The Ultimate Collection."
Free Music Review: The Music, The Perfermance Hit: 5 Stars
Any review that reviews the *life* of a performer rather than the music and performance has a rather unfair axe to grind. After decades of music critics giving a wide berth to performers as Jerry Lee Lewis or Chuck Berry (or . . . there are plenty of performers who have crossed some fairly serious boundaries of one kind or another), it seems that Michael Jackson must pass a special standard. No one is making excuses for unaccetable behavior (sharing beds, sleeping bags, and bedrooms with pre-adolescents - at most one hopes); this behavior - even if it extends all the way toward Jerry Lee territory - should not permit professional or amateur critics to reduce his art to his life. Clearly, if one is really listening (and from samples, the sound quality and uncovered lyrics are extraordinary), it is clear that Michael Jackson was dealt a lousy hand in life and did not play it well; he nevertheless shows quite a bit of courage to release a song like "Scared of the Moon" at this time. No one can use the word "terror" and be speaking of someone else's childhood experience; it is a convenient literary device to swap the gender while getting the matter off his chest. Again, it is no excuse, but for an artist in the midst of such a serious crisis that could make this his penultimate collection as a musician (also differing from artists such as Lewis, Berry, Polanski, etc.) this is an act of rare courage. I hope this matter can be brought to a speedy close with the least damage to all parties, but whatever happens, Jackson should know that his real fans will ALWAYS respect his work and his artistic gererosity of spirit and guts. Fans, if they are fans, ought to be an artist's friends and friends maintian love even when they do not always "like" certain behaviors or attitudes. And this music, captured in pristine form, will stand. His dancing can only be imitated and his songwriting is unique in its raw depiction of a soul in torment. (Not to mention that the music itself kicks [...]!) Jackson is one of the few real legends of the past hundred years and should be accorded respect for his accomplishments.
