Free Music Review: Great Collection of Hits and Unreleased Songs!!!

I bought this the day it came out as I counldn't wait to hear the unreleased tracks. I was dying to hear Sunset Driver and the P.Y.T. demo. I was NOT dissapointed at all. Sunset Driver is an excellent song. I think it was meant to be put on Off The Wall but the booklet says it was recorded for Thriller. Anyways, I dont know why the song was never put on an album, maybe Michael was just being too picky. Other notable songs on disc one are "You Can't Win". I was glad to hear they had the long version with "Can't Get Outta The Rain" on it. The "Shake Your Body" demo is very similar to the final cut version. Disc two has the demo of "P.Y.T". I was looking forward to hear. It is mid-tempo, I guess Quincy Jones wanted something faster for the album. I really like this demo a lot. It is very catchy for a demo. As far as the rest of the boxed set, all the hits are there. My only complaints are that "Human Nature" wasn't put on. And as for unreleased tracks, where is "Hot Street"? Put Hot Street and Sunset Driver on the cd and you got two excellent unreleased dance tracks. "Carousel" is also another track from thriller that is very good but was unreleased. Wish that was on there as well. The dvd concert is good but I would rather see a concert from the "Victory Tour" in 1984 or even the "Bad Tour". The unreleased material on disc's 3 and 4 are O-kay. I just feel that MJ's best music was from Off The Wall and the Thriller era so I just wanted to hear as much from that era than anything else. Long before he was on trial for child mollestation, Michael Jackson was a musical genius. (He was also black and had a nose). The four disc boxed set "Michael Jackson - The Ultimate Collection" stresses that point as far as it could possibly go, and while it isn't perfect it's great primer for most fans.
Over four discs, you'll the hear the evolution of Jackson's music, from his days with the Jackson 5 through the "Thriller" era rigt up to today. You'll get to hear almost of all of Jackson's biggest and best known songs, a partial list of which would include "ABC", "I'll Be There", "Ben", "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", "Billie Jean", "Beat It", "Thriller" and "Bad". Also included are many surprise inclusions such as "Lovely One", "This Place Hotel", "State Of Shock" (with Mick Jagger), "Someone Put Your Hand Out" and "Beautiful Girl". The live dvd is amazing as well.
My only complaint is that a lot of good songs have been left off. There are too many too list, but they include "The Love You Save", "Rockin' Robbin", "Human Nature", "P.Y.T." (the album version, not the demo), "Another Part Of Me", "In The Closet" and "Will You Be There". Also, I didn't really like the unreleased tracks.
These qualms aside, this is an excellent collection of Jackson's best. Let's hope he's exonerated from his current charges and makes more great music in the future.

His Voice is a Instrument that Rivals Frank Sinatra.you just know the Runs of a Timeless Instrument. the songwriter MJ took his game into another level when he was inspired. he is a Musical Genius that has Influenced so many Artists all over the world form all Backgrounds&whatnot.of course I would be Happy getting a whole Box set of unreleased Material because MJ has some tight Unreleased tracks in His Vault. this is Easily One of the Greatest Box sets Ever. much Dap to Nelson George as well. Michael Jackson is a Timeless Musical Genius. throuh the years He worked with Great Minds like Berry Gordy,Gamble&Huff,Quincy Jones amongest others. Made Music History becoming the first Artist to Debut Number 1 on the Singles Charts with the R.kelly Written&Produced Track "You are Not Alone".MJ Broke down the Class Ceiling at MTV.MJ was the Jackie Robinson of the Video Era.MJ is One of the very Few Artists to go From being a child Artist that was Great to Being even Greater as a Adult Artist. But the best bit of the boxset is without doubt the AWESOME live dvd!!! oh my god!! as soon as i got this boxset and i went home and put it on my dvd player with surround sound on full blast i was totally baffled by michaels incedible dancing!!!
even my son who is not an mj at all just couldn't get enough of this DVD!!! (he has been practicing the moonwalk for 2 weeks lol)
and the boxset packing id so great! i expected it tobe made out of crappy carboard but its not. its got this whole leathery texture going on and its just goregeous!!! and the 62 page booklet has such high quallity paper!!
even over at the hmv website they said that this is one of the best BOXSETS ever produced!!!
AND THEY WERE SO RIGHT!!
