Free Music Notes for Band of BrothersFree Music Review: Soundtrack to One of the Greatest TV Mini-Series Ever... Hit: 5 Stars
"Band of Brothers" is the soundtrack accompaniment to the HBO Miniseries "Band of Brothers", produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg and based on the book by World War II historian Stephen Ambrose.
The twenty selections on the DVD, nearly all orchestal pieces, were composed and conducted by Micharl Kamen. They are the sometimes stirring, sometimes introspective background to the journey of E Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, from its formation at Tacoa, Georgia, to its staging area in Britain, through battles in Normandy, Holland, Bastogne, and Germany, and finally to occupation duty in Austria at the end of the war.
Fans of the miniseries and the book will enjoy this excellent music DVD as a reminder both of a superb achievement in television and of the heroes who inspired it.
Free Music Review: powerful Hit: 5 Stars
Ok, so I may be like 17, but a few years ago it was on TV and just recently has come on the History channel again (have been watching it early early in the mornings and also now on Sundays) and I dunno why, but the music in this is just so powerful and moving. For some reason it really reminds me of Gladiator and the music within that movie (also a very good, strong soundtrack). I love music and I love the music in Band of Brothers. There is something about it that is just so moving. I am also always on the move to learn more about music and I love how in the 9th episode, it had a piece by Beethoven and as soon as I heard it I pinned it (I also somehow amazingly remember listening to it in music class).
Just something about the music makes it amazing. Very gripping, beautiful, sweet and also has a tinge of sorrow to it.
Free Music Review: A great soundtrack for a great series Hit: 5 Stars
I recently began watching the series on DVD and it's amazing. From the opening theme, I recognized something familiar - it was Michael Kamen, who was also responsible for the music in "From the Earth to the Moon" HBO series (though for that series they never released an isolated score).
Fortunately, this time they released the entire score of the miniseries. The score is somber and meloncholic but the theme is amazing. Like "Saving Private Ryan", the score is used somewhat sparingly but it shines when needed. It doesn't distract us from what is happening on screen.
For those that liked the series, I definetely recommend this. Even if you have not seen the series, but liked the "Saving Private Ryan" score (or like film scores in general), it's worth listening to.
Free Music Review: You will never listen to it the same again Hit: 5 Stars
Once I saw the mini series, I had to have the cd. I am SO not the one to buy soundtracks. I think out of the 400 cds I own, 5 are soundtracks. I loved the movie Gladiator. Loved the music just as much. Didn't buy the soundtrack, but I am close to doing so. Band of Brothers topped it all. I even went out and bought the 6 disc dvd mini series and couldn't watch it fast enough. If you have not seen the mini series, but you do buy the soundtrack, it is still a great score and emotional. If this applies to you, WATCH THE SERIES! Find a friend, relative who taped it off HBO, or steal it from someone, but get your hands on it somehow. You will never listen to the score the same again. It will bring up visuals from the movie that will have you appreciating the score that much more.
Free Music Review: The true sign of perfect movie music Hit: 5 Stars
As always in my experience with film music,it is only when heard without the visual, that you really hear the true essence of the musical contribution to the film. Michael Kamen may have been around for some time,I know nothing of him or his other music, but I can assure him that the music from "Band of Brothers" put's his name up there with Ennio Morricone,John Barry,James Horner,John Williams,Dimitri Tiomkin,Maurice Jarre, and Bernard Herrman. What I mean is "The Greats! My other great love of music is the Symphonic works of Sibelius,Vaughan Williams and Dvorak. I can often feel the Film scores of the aforementioned are the great Symphonists of the later half of the 20th centuary. "Band of Brothers" is yet another great Symphony.
