A beautiful and elegant soundtrack befitting of one of the best productions ever made for television. Dispelling the necessity for celebrity actors, this is a fine mix of elements of production. I can only imagine the first time Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Hanks listened to the finished composed soundtrack. I can see them smiling from ear to ear.
Maestro Kamen hit it just right, in my opinion. The haunting waltz as main theme buzzes in my head and I do not tire of it. Honor, respect, courage and valor - that is what I hear in the music. One such reviewer uses the word, "schmaltz" in describing this soundtrack. Get a life, Bud. This soundtrack has sentiment but it is not sentimental, there is a difference.

Free Music Review: Another one for your Michael Kamen collection

Anyone who was moved by the HBO series, and enjoys movie scores will also want to have this CD. I was surprised that it was not quite as flourishing, for lack of a better word, as other Kamen scores such as From The Earth To The Moon or Iron Giant. But the subject matter obviously did need a more somber, subdued tone and sensitivity, and it is full of beautiful melodies and arrangements. Thankfully the score also does not possess the obvious or almost patronizing military ditties found in most war movies. The music is very elegant, touching and inspiring. I forsee some of these tracks being played at memorials, at airshows, and by the West Point band in their outdoor concerts, in the future -- perhaps a few becomming traditionals with time.Free Music Review: Great, but typical

This soundtrack is, without a doubt, the best soundtrack to become available since Gladiator. And for a TV program, especially a miniseries, this has EXCELLENT music and emotional quality to it. Some of the best tracks are 1, 2, and 3. The only downside to this score is that it is somewhat typical of today's instrumental, specifically involving choral numbers, scores. There's just not a whole lot difference in this score from anything else, unless you count the beautiful, haunting "Plaisir D'Amour," which very aptly uses a chorale. Aside from this, it is a VERY good soundtrack and well worth picking up. The only way this soundtrack could be ruined would be for it to be completely misused in the actual series.Free Music Review: beautiful score

It's funny how musical taste almost always follows a pattern. Many years ago I heard for the first time a song called "Besides you" by the New York Rock Esemble. I truly believe that it is one the most melancholic and beautiful melodies that I've ever listened to. More than twenty years later I heard the main theme of "Band of Brothers" and experienced the similar feeling I got when I heard "Besides you" for the fisrt time. Doing some research I found out that both themes belong to the same composer: Michael Kamen. I shouldn't have been surprised. Not many composers have the ability to write music in such a sentitive way. It's a beatiful score.Free Music Review: The music gets me every time.

I can not help but be moved every time this music plays during the series. I bought this soundtrack about a year ago and it hasn't lost any of its emotion yet. Kamen created a beautiful score for Band of Brothers and for the most part, it can all be heard on this on cd. Sure there are a few minor pieces missing but when you have everything on this disc, who could complain? If you are a fan of the Band of Brothers series, I would recommend you buy this cd. It is deffinently one of the best soundtracks I have ever bought. What can I say, no matter how many times I listen to Band of Brothers, the music gets me every time. Thank you for reading.
