I've always told my friends and family that Michael McDonald WAS the Dobbie Brothers period. He made that group . He rocked my world on the album Living On The Fault Line. An album that in my opinion was better than Minute By Minute and all the other Doobie Hits with Michael. I've been waiting a long time for an album like this with the true rich tones and qualities of his voice and with his unbelievable clear lyrics ability. It sounds like he's right there in my car!! Michael you have done an outstanding job on this CD and I hope you do a tour to promote it. In my opinion you do Motown better than most of the original artists. I'm an African American and the phrase "Blue Eyed Soul" was used back in the day to discribe White artists who could sing a song and make it sound like it was coming from his/her soul...or in other words..."sounding like a Soul Brother or Sister!!Well....Michael McDonald has always had that "gift", even when he was with the Doobie Brothers. Michael is not just "singing" on his MOTOWN CD...Michael is SANGING!!
Any fan of the Motown era will appreciate this CD. I think this is is a wonderful tribute, by a talented, and gifted artist!!!
To the writer who indicated the Motown sound was "tired", obviously that person doesn't have an ear for good PURE music! The Motown Sound..will never die!!!!

Though most of the details about why this is an excellent cd (Michaels voice, the arrangements and production, attention to detail, etc.) have been covered, I wanted to reiterate just how good this disc is! One reveiwer said the songs sound as if they are Michael McDonald's own - I couldn't agree more. But since they've been around for so long, I think more people may get turned on to all that great music from that historic time period. I have alway been a fan of Michael McDonald's music and have always been able to hear his background vocals on other artists music. He sounds just as good as ever! This is one of the few dics in my collection that I will be able to just turn up the volume and sit and listen to it, over and over.Free Music Review: Simply The Best!!

Ok, I've been a fan of Michael McDonalds voice from wayyyy back in the day but have never actually gone out and bought his album....until now!I heard him on that telephone commercial, like some people, and absolutely had to have this "Motown" album. Not that I could just leave it at that, I also had to get his greatest hits. This album "Motown" is simply the best, the cream of the crop. I received it on Monday and today is Thursday and I have listened to nothing else.The 'do-overs' of these CLASSIC songs is a huge undertaking for any artist. But Michael has proved himself worthy and surpassed the originals! I would love to tell you my favourites, but I cant - they're all great! Well done!

I love The Doobie Brothers and I love Michael McDonald...and I love this CD. If you like The Doobie Brothers and/or Michael McDonald, then you'll definitely like this CD. It incorporates some of the best Motown hits and Michael McDonald does a GREAT job covering them. The CD is filled with R&B/Soul rhythms and Michael McDonald's voice is diverse with extreme octaves.
I definitely recommend this CD if you like this kind of music and/or his voice.
My favorite songs on it are: I Believe (When I Fall in Love It Will Be Forever), Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours, I'm Gonna Make You Love Me, Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing, Reflections, Ain't No Mountain High Enough, I Want You.
