Michael Schenker is one of my favorite guitarists! This is an amazing compilation as it includes selections from all the groups he recorded with: Scorpions, UFO, Michael Schenker Group (MSG), and the McAuley-Schenker Group, but the best thing is the fact that a lot of rare b sides were added too!
The purpose of this retrospective is to show his amazing guitar skills rather than gather up the hits as Schenker never really had any songs at the top of the charts anyway! Highlights are plentiful like, for example, the early Scorpions number from their debut "It All Depends" displaying a jazzy influence and "Loverdrive" from the album of the same name. From the UFO years you get the epic "Rock Bottom" and some other underrated numbers: "This Kids", and the short instrumental "Arboy Hill". The MSG output is represented by the awesome instrumentals "Into The Arena", "Captain Nemo", and top notch hard rock: "Desert Song", "Armed And Ready", and "Lost Horizons" among others. The AOR phase fronted by singer Robin McAuley produced a lot of excellent tunes, notably "Here Today Gone Tomorrow", and the acoustic songs "Nightmare", "Anytime", and "Paradise". All those are only some highlights since every song is well worth hearing!

Every one of these rare tracks offers something memorable! Both "Give Her The Gun and "Sweet Little Thing" were released in 1973 and they represent the very first recordings that Schenker did with UFO, a must have for the fans! The live version of "On With The Action" is better than the studio one! The unplugged version of "Paradise" is amazing, the UFO anthem "Only You Can Rock Me", also an unplugged version, sounds fantastic while "Vicious" is pure hard rock at its best!
Still, there are some songs that were left off like for example "Doctor Doctor" but there is so much good stuff here that it is not missed so for those who would like to get into Schenker, my advice is to add this compilation to your cart! Get inside the arena and enjoy over two hours of pure hard rock from Michael Schenker..."The Mad Axeman"..."The Master Of The Gibson Flying V"!
