Free Music Review: New Jack Jammin
Hit: 5 Stars

Michel'le was a distinct artist of the New Jack Era, and that was because she was decidedly un-New Jack. Her jams were so distinctive that you didn't want to categorize. This album came out in 1989, when I was only 2, but never fear...I still know wassup. My Mom and Aunt used to jam the audio-cassette all day and everyday. I know the words to half the album. My favorites are Nicety, No More Lies, If, and ESPECIALLY Silly Love Song and Something in My Heart. She has the vocal skills to make a toddler groove. Her voice is very unique: it's never weighed down by heavy or tremulous vibrato, and is extremely jazzy, in inflections and tone. Many of the slow jams from the late 80s featured high-voiced sirens like Pebbles (and all of her light-skinned cousins, lol). Michel'le, however, is a warm high alto and she owns the range beautifully. Actually, considering how grating and annoying her speaking voice is, i think she deserved a Grammy for her vocal production alone, independent of the wonderful material. Seriously, if someone came to me asked to audition with that speaking voice, I'm not sure what I'd do. If you wanna Jam and then Groove then this is the perfect disk (cassette) for you. It's gets no better.

Free Music Review: This brings back memories
Hit: 5 Stars

I was too young to be in love at that time but I remember jamming to " No More Lies" on the radio. In fact, I enjoy the whole album, and listen to them all except "If" and "Special Thanks" - her squeaky voice cracks me up.

Free Music Review: Love this CD
Hit: 5 Stars

I was 17 when I purchased this CD. The entire CD is great but "Something in My Heart" was my theme song that year. I was in love for the first time and the words of the song and Michel'le's beautiful voice made me cry (in a happy way). It was the first song that has ever moved me and everytime I hear the song, it still reminds me of that new love feeling and tears me up. I highly recommend this CD. It IS a shame that Michel'le did not blow-up. Her voice is amazing--- she has that squeaky speaking voice but shocks you with that rich diva singing voice. Where is she now?

Free Music Review: A Sad Fact
Hit: 5 Stars

Michel'le didn't blow up because she was ahead of her times and Dr. Dre was no longer at Death Row to help her with the beats. Songs like "No More Lies", "Nicety" and "Something In My Heart" confirms that she had what it took to be a top diva.

Free Music Review: Yes!
Hit: 5 Stars

This LP came out when I was little and I loved the tape so much. The thing is, I really only loved the uptempo songs! Not just the popular "No More Lies" and "Nicety" because "Keep Watchin" was my jam! Recently I bought the CD and I am in love all over again. I love having Old School night at my place and right along with Aretha, Marvin and Al is my trusty Michel'le! "If", "Something in My Heart" and "Silly Love Song" are timeless classics. Now my favorite song is the one that I always overlooked, until I went through the drama myself. The heartfelt "Close to Me" is throbbing with passion coming through my speakers and I listen to it "every night before I go to sleep". This is one underrated woman with talent these young girls could only fantasize about. It would be nice to hear from her again.
