Free Music Notes for Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil: Music From And Inspired By The Motion PictureFree Music Review: Stylish soundtrack... Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of those albums that is true "mood music." Johnny Mercer's songs are well kept and delivered with a touch that is intimate yet fun at the same time. Kevin Spacey and Clint Eastwood both display their musical talents here and are nice compliments to the women who've contributed to the album. Particularly nice are K.D. Lang's "Skylark" and Alison Krause's "This time the Dreams on Me." You may only see the movie once, but you'll listen to this soundtrack over and over again.
Free Music Review: Soothingly beautiful. Hit: 5 Stars
Though I did not think mush of the movie I loved the book and adored the soundtrack. The compilation of voices on the CD were truely hard to come by, I have not been this thrilled about a CD for ages. By far my most favourite song is that sung by a non-singer, Kevin Spacey. Showing us that he just may be able to do it all he thrills us with vocal chords that we should hear from more often. Also congrats to Mr and Miss Eastwood for nicely done songs. I do not think that this is one CD I will get bored of anytime soon!
Free Music Review: You Won't Be Disappointed Hit: 5 Stars
My Mother couldn't believe a 15 year old California girl would want this CD, I loved the movie and I loved the music. I had to get it! This soundtrack talked to this old soul of mine. I recommend anyone with a fondness of Jazz to get this CD. The greatest song on here turned out to be sung by the most surprising! Kevin Spacey doing a wonderful rendition to Ol' Blue Eyes "That Old Black Magic" and kudos to Mr. Eastwood himself for taking a shot. Wonderful music, very impressive.
Free Music Review: Johnny Mercer at his best Hit: 5 Stars
This delightful CD, which was inspired by the movie of the same name, is a compilation of composer/singer Johnny Mercer's music by various artists. "Autumn Leaves" and "Fools Rush In" never sounded better than on this CD. Kevin Spacey does a passable rendition of "That Old Black Magic." Clint Eastwood joins the fun as he sings Mercer's "Accentuate the Positive" with his deep voice. This album will certainly make the day of all who love Jazz, the Standards and the music of Johnny Mercer.
Free Music Review: Awesome! A must-have! Hit: 5 Stars
After reading the incredible book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which I highly recommend, I became enthusiastic about the book itself and Savannah. The movie was great, but it didn't quite match the book. I wasn't expecting much from this soundtrack, but I thought I would give it a try anyway. I was shocked to say the least at this fabulous work of both contemporary and older jazz tunes. Very romantic and soothing. I must say, I was surprised to hear Kevin Spacey!
