Free Music Review: This is a great lollipop to suck on
Hit: 5 Stars

Where as MIKA been all my life. This album is in a category all its own. Musically it's just impossible to describe the beautiful laid tracks that support MIKA's also talent as a vocalist.

This album is alternative in that it encompasses more than your average pop music. MIKA, who has declared his self bisexual, brings his sexuality to this album. Not in an overbearing way, but clearly when you hear the album you know this is an album by someone who is comfortable opening many doors and exposing themselves to be criticized by their musical talent.

Listen to the track "Bill Brown" to get a further understanding of MIKA's ability to encompass a world that usually stays behind closed doors. "Grace Kelly" is a pop hit, and falls in the lines of the other tracks on the album, but has a greater appeal to others who will only hear the one single. "Lollipop" is a fun track with a super catchy tune, this is playful and cute!

MIKA scores two thumbs up for this album. I look forward to listening to his follow up album which was recently released.

Free Music Review: This is my happy CD
Hit: 5 Stars

I first saw Mika perform on the Graham Norton show and was immediately hooked by his amazing voice and infectious music. I call it my happy CD because it always lifts my spirits whenever I listen to it. I cannot wait for his next CD.

Free Music Review: Mika Rocks My Face Off!
Hit: 5 Stars

Not only is Mika's voice incredible, so is this cd! I absolutely love the songs "Grace Kelly," "Lollipop," "Big Girl," and "Stuck in the Middle."

Free Music Review: Debut album (you are beautiful)
Hit: 5 Stars

I am not much of a pop fan. Okay, I'll admit that I have some on my computer and it is really catchy, but in general pop isn't my first choice of what to listen to. Nevertheless...
A couple weeks ago, someone linked me to the music video of Lollipop. I was addicted instantly. After checking out some of Mika's other music videos, I knew I just had to get this CD. That investment paid off - I'm not entirely sure just what it is that makes almost every track on this album so irresistable, but Mika's got it down to an art.
Most of the tracks are bouncy, catchy fare, although they're far from being meaningless fluff. For instance, "Grace Kelly" apparently talks about Mika's frustration with the music industry's attempts at creating his image for him, "Lollipop" is a message from Mika to his little sister about love, and "Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)" reminds women that big can be beautiful - Mika again draws on personal experience here, as his mother was a larger woman and he saw the way people treated her based on her weight.
My main problem with the album is that Mika, like so many other artists, can't resist throwing some slow songs into an otherwise energetic, fast-paced album. Thankfully, his slow songs aren't bad, but I'm still not a fan of artists insisting on throwing slow songs into an album when they're really not needed.

Free Music Review: Mika-licious
Hit: 5 Stars

All hail the new prince of pop, Mika Penniman. This Lebanon born, Paris raised British citizen is Europe's best kept secret and the closest we'll ever get to another Freddie Mercury but he is in no way a replacement for as he holds his own with his self written tunes that will leave you feeling good and wonder why he hasn't crashed the American music scene yet. From his smash hit "Grace Kelly" to his anthem to the big girls of his life "Big Girls You Are Beautiful" he finds his way into your heart and head.
