This is a great album release "Music Of The Spheres" by the legendary multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield : interpretations of the music created by the movements of the planets & influenced by "Tubular Bells" music to create a wonderful masterpiece. Notable solid tracks are "Harbinger", "Silhoutte", "Animus", "Aurora" & "Musica Universalis".It has 14 songs (though three are repeated as "reprise"), great sound & musical artistry of a very high standard,a highly recommended listening to Mike Oldfield's fans & as well as new ones.
Free Music Review: I would call tubullar bells 4 ENHANCED Hit: 5 Stars
I own all Mike Oldfield's titles and i rank this as 2nd or 3rd, above just are, perhaps, ommadawn or incantations. Also, i would call it tubular bells 4 ENHANCED. Hayley Westenra: Bueatiful girl and great voice. Lang Lang: what can i say about this pianist? He's a virtuos of piano. The orchestra sounds just like Wiener Philharmoniker or Berliner Philharmoniker, but credit of conductor is missed. No matter this fact, it's a great, great album!!! So, actually i rank it as 1st M. Olfield's album.
Free Music Review: Mike's finest work Hit: 5 Stars
Mike Oldfield has had a great music career, but his latest work "Music of the Spheres" is a departure from the more electronic syhthenthised sounds of the past to a more classical style piece with Mr. Oldfield's mixing of voice, guitar and piano intertwined. The music is actually one powerfull work from end to end completely circular. If you haven't heard this music you are missing the most romantic and powerfull works, that has been recently created.
Free Music Review: mature Hit: 5 Stars
It's a great idea of Mike to try classical music. It's mature and melodic, complex and powerful. It's one piece from beginning to end. He successfully uses the full instrumentation which gives it a richness.
He uses silent parts and more powerful peaks in a very appropriate sensitive way.
If this is Mike's last music ever (me mentioned he may retire), what a phantastic ending! He has created a timeless piece of music.
Free Music Review: Breathtaking Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of the smartest purchases I have made in the world of music. I remembered Oldfield fondly from "Tubular Bells" back when I was in college, and bought it just to find out how he had developed. The man has grown into a giant, his genius is in full flower in this one. It's a symphony with an amazing clarity and charm. This is what music is supposed to be: gets into your very soul and enriches it.
