Like Dr Who's TARDIS, Tubular Bells travels through time taking things as they come, doing it's own thing. Oldfield has combined everything good he's ever done in this quite short but truly high quality album. I loved TBII, and this is similar but with modern touches and some retro references to TBI. Man in the Rain is a musical anagram of Moonlight Shadow, and none the worse for that, although this time the lyrics strike home. The ending is dramatic, which I preferred to the cheezy endings of the first two Tubular Bells. A brilliant piece of music.

Free Music Review: Hes done it again!!!

Mike Oldfield completes of the trilogy of Tubular Bells. Even though it doesnt flow like TB I and II, it defines it itself as a powerful album. Part I didnt end that well with and vocalistic track. Mike saved that for the last track 'Far Above The Clouds'. i really liked 'Top of the The Morning', but it didnt fit in well as the opening track for part II. i love it though it proves to me that Mike can do anything musically. i know Millenium Bell well be his epiphiny of his career and i hope to attend that concert. thanks.

I'm not a big fan of Mike Oldfield. Granted, the man is a genius, but his stuff just doesn't resonate with me.
This, however, is an exception. Everything he has done well on the other albums, together, just even better. From the first tones this album is mesmerizing, each track an essential part of the journey. There's something of every musical style. Trance, rock, ambient, folk... everybody could like this.
Also, the last track is one of the most climactic I have ever heard. Truly majestetic.

Free Music Review: Tubular Bells 3--what a CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

Well, When i first heard the original Tubular Bells i was completely amazed and overwhelmed. And almost every album i've purchased by Mike has had the same effect. Like Tubular Bells, and Tubular Bells 2, this one proves that anything is possible, and anything Mike does is still great. It's really really cool, but i wish it could have been released in the USA, so everyone else around me could hear it's awesomeness (i traveled to England previously and when i was there, i bought the CD)

Free Music Review: Moving, excellent piece of music
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a very moving, Celtic-oriented (if you know Celtic history it will be by definition moving!), carefully produced CD which is thoroughly recommended. For info, Tubular Bells 1 was the album that launched the careers of both Mike Oldfield and Richard Branson (the founder of Virgin Records). It is incredible that Tubular Bells has retained both its originality and consistency over so many years. Party on Mike!
