Free Music Notes for Tubular Bells 3Free Music Review: Boy-genius Grown Up Hit: 5 Stars
Since Oldfield stopped trying to please the record company (~1990) he has been back on form. TB III is short but sweet with only one weak track (Moonwatch) which at least gets the listener ready for the blistering finale. Like all his albums it just keeps getting better with repeated listens. His unique guitar style, which has been subdued for the last couple of albums, is back with squealing precision.
Free Music Review: another great incarnation Hit: 5 Stars
The Tubular Bells series has done nothing but improve since the origional. TB3 is no exception to this tread. TB2 was excellent, as was the the origional. This fits in as a great album as well. To date, this is the best version of TB. If he makes a TB4, I'd get that, too; he hasn't made a bad Tubular Bells album, and I don't think this trend will stop. It didn't with the third.
Free Music Review: Third of the Trilogy is the Best Hit: 5 Stars
TB I was the the album that got me hooked on Mike Oldfield. TB II not only expanded on the theme, but actually topped it. TB III is the most powerful piece of music I have ever experienced. It speaks of a union of all with God, a nirvana of the end of time, culminating with the end piece of "Far above the Clouds". If this doesn"t move you, nothing will.
Free Music Review: Similar to TB1 and TB2 but radically different Hit: 5 Stars
It took me two or three listens to get this one, after not really liking it at first. But then it grows and now i can't turn it off. It's one of the better works from Mike Oldfield. The "Bells" ending is stunning
Free Music Review: The Bell Revisited Hit: 5 Stars
The second re-interpretation of Mike's Prime Opera is modern and refreshing. TBIII stands in the among the top five of Mike's finest examples and should be a MUST for anyone who likes good progressive rock music.
