Free Music Notes for Birth of the CoolFree Music Review: not his best Hit: 4 Stars
I really like miles davis but this cd I listen to the least it's just to structured for miles and simple awesome jazz it's just I'am more of a fan of kind of blue and [...]brew songs like spanish key and so what are my favorites
Free Music Review: Great album but I wish it was in stereo Hit: 4 Stars
This is a great classic album. My only complaint is that it would be so much better in stereo (it's a mono recording).
Free Music Review: great album photo Hit: 3 Stars
despite playing with a electic mix of players that would go on to greatness of their own birth of the cool has a very dated feel to it. unlike mileses later works kind of blue and '58 which seem to have stood the test of time better...one of the weakness's of cool is probably due to the fact that so many band members needed to strech out so the album suffer from a cohesiveness that a true band brings to the table..but it miles and it worth a listen
Free Music Review: Inspired but not required Hit: 3 Stars
3 1/2
Disengaged from all the album has come to represent (I refuse to base ratings on historical context and can only honor emotional resonance as a guide), it's an easy going but quality-driven big band mild alternative which does stay rooted in the expected, but does so with enough grace and grit to keep things worthwhile. One can only imagine how cool it would have been though, to witness this actual birth as it arrived.
Free Music Review: A must have for your collection Hit: 3 Stars
These recordings are a must have for an understanding of the shear evolution of jazz, but not the best.
