Free Music Review: Well...
Hit: 5 Stars

You've got it all on this record; the fantastic Complete Discograph by Minor Threat (well, your missing the demo tapes, but you don't really need them)
The CD opens with the blazing 'Filler' followed closely by the aggressive 'I Don't Wanna Hear It.' Most of the songs up to 'Steppin' Stone' are in this same style of angry, fast punk. The highlights of this section of the album are:

'Straight Edge'
'Minor Threat'
'Out of Step (With the World)'

However all the tracks from this section are unbelievably good.
After this the album "slows" down somewhat; still fast, but a bit slower and less agressive. To the end of the album the highlights are:

'No Reason'
'Cashing In'
'Betray'
'Salad Days'

Really this album is among the greatest hardcore albums ever recorded. I don't know why your interested in hardcore and don't own this album; you must be insane or something.

This album along with 'Bad Brains - Bad Brains' and 'Black Flag - Damaged' are the definitive hardcord records. So hurry up and buy them!

Free Music Review: Truly a Classic
Hit: 5 Stars

I remember listening to Minor Threat for the first time like 13 years ago and having my world rocked. A friend of mine gave me their tape and said 'prepare to be changed'. Man, was he right. The sheer ability that MT had to put such energy, power, and message together in a song that lasts all of 1:45 blew me away. This collection of their work is just incredible. Unlike other "punk" bands like Blink or Green Day, or "hardcore" bands like Limp or Slipknot, there is a reason behind Minor Threat's music. It's not just singing about high school and sex and cars and other crap like that. Unlike that junk, listening to Minor Threat not only adrenalizes you, but you get a message at the same time. You don't think so? Go REALLY listen to songs like 'Bottled Violence', 'Stand Up', and 'Out of Step'. It's more than just music. There's something else to it, something that has influenced many people in many ways.

I'll tell you like my friend told me that day. Do yourself a favor. Buy this CD, pop it in, and prepare to be changed.

Free Music Review: Gets You Fired Up
Hit: 5 Stars

This classic hardcore release needs more reviews, it should have about 500 or more like other classic bands I think.
I am totally into old school hardcore punk, and Minor Threat, Black Flag, Fear, D.R.I (early), Circle Jerks, Germs, Bad Brains, and Dead Kennedy's are essential listening for early bands of the genre.

The first thing I noticed when popping in this disc is how well it sounded, not distant or underproduced like some early 80's bands; it stomps on you right from the start and keeps spitting in your face track after track.

Let's face it in todays world, it hasn't really gotten any better, perhaps worse and anyone who could relate to the anger and angst in this classic release will find it suits todays world just as well as it did back then. If you want to scream at the world for all the corruption and lies, all the B.S you put up with on a daily basis, just crank this one up and I guarantee you'll instantly feel better....even happy, I know it always makes me happy to hear it.

Free Music Review: Life Changing
Hit: 5 Stars

It might sound cliche, but yeah, this album changed my life. Until I bought this (a couple months ago) I hadn't really given old-school punk or hardcore much of a fair shot. I was never impressed with the music, and the lyrics were always too immature and self-centered. This was probably the first real hardcore album I bought, and I only bought it because so many people were saying that I had to hear it. They were right. This album totally changed my opinion on older punk and helped introduce me to what are now some of my favorite bands (namely, Discharge). I found that I could completely relate to what Ian was talking about and the whole album is incredibly inspiring. The lyrics are intelligent, the music is high energy, and the songs are really catchy. The best on the album are, in my opinion, "In My Eyes", "Guilty of Being White", and "Minor Threat". But there isn't any song on here that I would really say is bad, some just don't quite stand up to the very best. Essential for anyone who wants to get into this style.

Free Music Review: Major, Not Minor!
Hit: 5 Stars

The term "must-have album" is so overused, but this CD compilation earns it for anybody who is a fan of punk, particularly hardcore.

This is an awesome, uncompromising, incredibly powerful album that nicely captures the intensity and exuberant self-righteousness of Minor Threat. The raw speed and power of MT is still impressive, even confined to a safe medium like a CD. The anger, the energy, the intensity, the speed -- fantastic, track after track. Some of my personal favorites: "I Don't Wanna Hear It," "Straight Edge," "Minor Threat," "In My Eyes," "Cashing In" -- but all of the songs on this album are a kick!

With all the punk-as-fashion stuff going on these days, this album should (hopefully) put the lie to the poser posse ("SLC: Punk," anyone?) and send them running for the next fad something quick. Which is fine by me, as it leaves the field open for folks (like me) who still love old-school punk.
