Free Music Review: this album is an instant classic and then it grows
Hit: 5 Stars

This a double album of punk rock songs...sounds daunting huh...its just that these are punk in the standard sense...theres a lot of folk, funk, hard rock, and more in there...yet its still suitable for your punk rock pals to enjoy too...its a musical journey all over the place with no filler (OK I dont like the one song with bongos but thats really short) the rest are amazing
classics on here
toadies, corona, this aint no picnic, jesus and tequila, history lesson pt II (heartbreaking song considering d boons untimely demise)
This was band that remolded what punk should be, which was a daunting task, but instead of going the route of snootiness made beautiful art for the massesthat may not be ready but the document is there now)
get this and then get post mersh v 1, then 3

Free Music Review: Greatest album ever.
Hit: 5 Stars

I got into the Minutemen about a year or so ago from a recomendation from a guy I mey on the internet. I have this on vinyl, which is much better because of the 2 songs that they had to cut off for the CD, and the vinyl was 5 bucks cheaper, but I would sure as hell pay the extra 5 for this.
Words can't describe this album, I don't think there is one low point on the entire record. Mike and George are probably the best rythum section ever, and D.'s guitar work is just simply incredible.
I really do believe that the Minutemen are the greatest band ever, better than any of those bands like Zeppelin and the Beatles that always get all of the credit for that kind of thing. This album is the finest effort from the greatest band ever. I will never get bored of this.

Free Music Review: Jazz meets poetry as it was supposed to be
Hit: 5 Stars

This record is remarkable for several reasons. The musicianship, the lyrics, the number of songs. One of the most original takes on punk ever made, the issiues on this record are very political and display a disbelief in the American society at the time. But the lyrics are also funny, written in beat-poetry style, and function as conversation pieces mano-a-mano. The music underscores the lyrics as much as the lyrics support the music, they intertwine. With very dynamic playing Watt and Hurley knocks the words into your head, and Boon displays the aggressiveness with angular guitarwork. The songs seem to float into one-another, sometimes quiet, sometimes hard and never boring. This record is a true original and one of the best albums of the eighties.

Hit: 5 Stars

I agree with alomost all of the previous reviewers of this album--this is definitely one of the best albums of any kind to come out of the 1980s. One topic which I haven't seen addressed in the other reviews is the way the CD has been remixed. The sound on the double LP is much better--punchier, and it doesn't sound as processed as the CD. For example, it sounds as if D Boon's vocals have way too much reverb on them. My recommendation, for those interested in this album, is to try and find the album on vinyl, and burn it from the vinyl. You'd end up getting a better-sounding album, with all of the songs on it--some of which are ommitted from the CD. Just be careful: sometimes the gaps between the songs are only a fraction of a second long!

Free Music Review: What, only 43 songs?
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, to describe this album is almost unfair. To call it a masterpiece really is falls short. For some, the first listen or two may be hard to swallow, but anyone who's gone through the record from end to end surely knows the passion it stirs. 43 songs with completely independent and distinctive personalities somehow make a very smooth listen, once you've gotten past that "hard to swallow" stage. Everyone has their favorites and with so many songs, it never fails when "that" certain song comes on and perks up a head and a beckoning to turn the volume up, which invariably could be any dozen or so songs for any individual person. Even the art inside the cd flaps are involving.

Amazing record. NEVER gets old.
