Free Music Notes for Mitch All Together (W/Dvd)Free Music Review: Tragedy & Comedy perfectly entwined Hit: 5 Stars
This man is the comedy equivalent of Eva Cassidy, the beautiful songstress for whom international success came posthumously. The joy of listening to this genius of the fractured joke was revealed to me on a trip to the US in 2006, when my buddy played me his copy of SGL, the forerunner to MAT's gleamingly polished performance. I was pulled up short when I was told that Mitch had died some time before and feel that he was cheated of a more international following, as we were cheated out of enjoying his company for a few decades more.
If you can suspend the sentiment (which I can't) then this CD contains a brilliantly funny and very original collection of bizarre, but completely understandable, observations on life, love, consumer products and the purpose of sesame seeds.
Those of us who have heard Hedberg doing what he did best will be spreading the word across different continents to make sure the world gets a chance to laugh with Mitch and his friends. But how sadly he'll be missed.
Free Music Review: A Non-Stop Action Thrill Ride Hit: 5 Stars
Mitch Hedberg is one of my favorite comedians, so this review will undoubtedly be biased, but I'll try my best to be subjective. I think the best thing about Mitch Hedberg is that he never comes across synthetic... if you've seen the comedy central tour you'll know what I'm talking about. While Lewis Black and Dave Attell are awesome comedians, I think they depend on script and it shows in their preformance. Mitch has a very non-chalant style, and I think he pulls it off very well. The jokes are all awesome. There wasn't a moment on the CD me and my boyfriend weren't laughing (despite the fact we had seen him already preform most of the jokes). Infact, we all got together on New Years to watch the DVD that came with the CD (YES! now I can have mitch whenever I want!). I wish I could compare Mitch to another comedian, but I can't. He has a real original style... you either like him or you don't. I've just never met anyone who hasn't :).
Free Music Review: Mitch is simply brilliant! Hit: 5 Stars
I love to make people laugh. I love to be the center of attention, and it's usually hard for me to listen or watch comedians for that reason. Well, my buddy brought this DVD over and I put it in with an open mind. It was then that I realized how much this guy inspired on the direction I want to go in comedy. This man is a genius. He'll take little things that you never really think about and make a joke out of them, but they make so much sense once you hear him tell 'em. There were a few times I had tears rolling. That's saying a lot since he's not animated. He's got great delivery and doesn't need to be all over the stage. Since then, I'm open to all kinds of stand ups but I compare them to him and there's nobody like Mitch. He'll be at my local comedy club (which I just now discovered) June 4-6 and I am taking a bunch of new Mitch fans. Keep it up, man!
Free Music Review: THE BEST COMEDY ALBUM I'VE HEARD SO FAR!!! Hit: 5 Stars
It's been over a year since Mitch's passing which I'm still disappointed to hear about. But I still believe that this individual was an inpiration to comics everywhere and he probably always has his audiences coming back for more. His style is rare to find. Quick and brillant one liner jokes based on obsevations of everyday life. Between this realese and Stratigic Grill Locations I've notice that there is a major boost in his confidence in the jokes as well as the confidence in himself. My favorite part of the CD is when he starts talking about his teeth in track 4 "I was going to have my teeth whitened but then I said **** that I'll get a tan instead." This had me in my bedroom laughing for days. I showed it to as many of my friends as I could. I was also thrilled about the KIT KAT candy bar jokes and the Dr. Pepper vs. Diet Dr. Pepper jokes.
Free Music Review: A tale of two comedians.... Hit: 5 Stars
Man, I haven't written one of these reviews in years but I had to for Mitch Hedberg.
The guy was a brilliant comic, plain and simple. I remember watching his Comedy Central special for the first time and just laughing at how unique his routine was. The thing is, after you listen to the CD a few times you'll realize that he was really off his game on the CC special. It's like listening to two completely different comedians. On the TV special, he's stiff, hesitant, and appears really uncomfortable on stage. Much of that can be blamed on the audience, which completely misunderstood his humor. The uncut version is especially brutal.
Meanwhile, on the CD he's laid back, interacts with the audience, and is right on with his delivery of much better material. It's really fun stuff to listen to.
R.I.P Mitch Hedburg
