Free Music Notes for Model Prisoner

Free Music Review: Fitting debut CD for Adam Pascal
Hit: 5 Stars

Adam Pascal hit his mark in the rock musical "Rent", and having seen him in that production, plus owning the "Rent" recording, I was immediately taken with his rugged, rocking, soulful voice. When I learned that he was making his own solo CD, I knew I had to add it to my music collection. And, believe me, I was not disappointed. I want to tell you right now that this has been one of my non-stop plays since I received the album this past May.

"Model Prisoner" is a great combination of rock, folk, ballad, and even rockabilly. Adam combines his appreciation of all genres of music to make this album a winner. He composes music that ranges from hard-driving rock, to a very sensitive and haunting approach to the ballads, while his lyrics are real, deep, and thought-provoking.

My personal favorites on the album are the rock based songs "Liken A Razor", "Just Here To The Left of You", "Model Prisoner", the ballads "Which Way To Nowhere" (which features a haunting cello line), "Rhyme or Reason", and the almost mystical "Undiscovered" which features a sitar and Adam's "Aida" co-star Sherie Rene Scott on background vocals. My ultimate favorite, however, is "Cellophane Sun" with it's intelligent lyrics, pop feel, and Adam's sensitive vocal interpretation.

Vocally, Adam knows what songs need the edgier moments and which ones need the softer, lyrical touch. He composed all the songs on the album and this should be a testament to his incredible talent, whether it be composing, singing, or acting.

Free Music Review: The most gorgeous voice in the world.
Hit: 5 Stars

I had never even heard of Adam Pascal before January 7 of this year, the same date I went to see the traveling company of AIDA. Granted, Adam Pascal was /not/ our Radames, but, after seeing the production, I was in LOVE with AIDA. I had already purchased the AIDA soundtrack, and I had received the RENT soundtrack on Christmas. And yet I still had no clue who he was.

It didn't take long for me to fall in love, though. After listening to AIDA nonstop for about a week, I realized that the voice of Radames was highly familiar, yet I couldn't put my finger upon where I'd heard it before. Later that day, I was listening to "One Song Glory" from RENT, when it just hit me -- That's where I'd heard his voice before!

Two weeks later, I was the proud owner of his cd, Model Prisoner.

His voice is rough and soulful, and yet extremely relaxing at the same time. I've never heard anyone with as wonderful a voice as Adam. Adam Pascal is definitely my favorite singer, and I am very picky about singers. Ewan McGregor -- even though he's technically not a singer -- was my favorite singer for nearly two years before I heard Adam's gorgous voice. And now I can have an actual singer topping my list, instead of an actor with an amazing voice.

I highly recommend this cd. And I recommend the AIDA and RENT soundtracks, which also feature his beautiful voice. I love Adam Pascal!

Free Music Review: I've become a PRISONER of Adam Pascal
Hit: 5 Stars

After discovering Adam on "Broadway's Best", I got this CD. To say Adam Pascal is an amazing singer is not merely an understatement, it also sounds cliché.

Adam Pascal's voice is thrilling. His ability to run the gamut of styles, from the soft, whispery stylings at the opening of "Undiscovered" to the hard-power athletics of "Modern Prisoner", his control and execution are immaculate and mesmerizing. Although some of the tunes take a harder rock approach than I normally listen to, I love each and every song on the CD. There's not a boner on the album.

Knowing that he wrote, and/or co-wrote, all the songs on the CD gives me great hope for his future. He has a talent for lyric, and writing for his own voice, he takes wonderful liberties and gives spine-tingling performances.

"Which Way To Nowhere" has become my favorite song. The style and his amazing delivery hearken me back to the days of purity in Rock N Roll, that's been missing for some time, as other artists have given in to the 'formulaic' approach. Adam is a breath of fresh air in the Rock field, and I expect he'll become one of the brightest stars in the genre, past or present.

Definitely grab this CD and include it in your collection. Heck, buy several and spread Adam around to all your friends and family!

Free Music Review: nothing sounds as sweet as this...
Hit: 5 Stars

There exists no words in the free world that can truly describe the beauty of Adam Pascal's voice :) There's something powerful and haunting in his voice that leaves you wanting more. And of course, for all you RENTheads, Adam's voice is as beautiful and distinctly "Adam" as it is on the RENT soundtrack - and we all know how GOOD he sounds on that!

Model Prisoner is a brilliant CD - no doubt about it. I bought it as soon as it came out and I was not disappointed. The CD is highly personal, as you will be able to tell through the lyrics of each song. My favorites are "Liken A Razor", "Every Time Around", "The Time It Takes To Fall", "The One That Got Away", etc... Well, okay, I LOVE them all. There's a little bit of everything for everyone.

At first I had expected something more like MUTE or APB - that sort of hard rock, grungy guitar type sound. But this CD is nothing like that. It's more folksy, more upbeat. But despite the initial shock, I fell in love with the CD immediately.

BUY THIS CD. If you love Adam, you'll love this!

Free Music Review: Fans of Adam Pascal Rejoice!
Hit: 5 Stars

I admit to being slightly nervous when I bought "Model Prisoner" - I'm not a big fan of heavy metal, but I adore "Rent". Pascal's voice may have the intensity of hard rock, but the music isn't what I thought that it would be - if anything, it's rather varied in the styles and delieveries. Some of the ideas begin to get a little worn towards the last tracks - the music is still wonderful, the lyrics are still original, but the theme mostly remains the same - but it's a great CD. The lyrics on all of the tracks are "quirky" in that they're not obvious rhymes, and in most cases, not even rhymes at all, holding the same poetic beauty that "One Song Glory" brings across. The music will continually haunt you - especially "Which Way To Nowhere" - long after you've turned off your CD player. This truly has fantastic songs - if you're a fan of "Rent", you'll probably like "Model Prisoner".
